Update: Tilson BACK IN walking boot
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) I don't think the Sox are real concerned about his service time. I feel for Tilson, but in the same light, the man has been cashing an MLB pay check for almost a year now, and accruing an MLB pension. Not the worst thing in the world if he never makes it back. I think he would trade it all for a real shot at a major league starting job.

Update: Tilson BACK IN walking boot
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) It's become comical, but I do feel for the guy. Obviously he's been able to live out a dream more than most, but quite the gut punch to finally make it to the big leagues and then be injured over and over and possibly missing your shot for good. Its sucks for him and the Sox. This is the time they should be evaluating if he is a piece worth keeping or not. Instead he sits and rots. In the meantime he has pretty much lost his shot to Leury.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) Just like the olden days... The rest of working america is ok with commuting, some even flying every monday and then home every thursday. Why cant they? The public transportation system is pretty great in DC as well. I've got no problem offering them a cheap/no cost alternative for the job they do. If they want something fancy, then they can pay.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:32 AM) Somewhere along the lines of history, representatives started to feel like they should be living like kings. Being a public servant should NOT entitle you to fancy upscale housing in DC. This is not supposed to be a cushy job. You were elected for that position to represent your constituents. Not to live a life of luxury. Build them a dorm facility. Problem solved. If they stay there, housing is free.

Red Sox Targeting Frazier?
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) I'd prefer younger players with upside, but I'd be fine with an Owens / Swihart package. Swihart alone would be pretty awful at this point, but better than nothing, I suppose. Which is about what Frazier is worth. I'd be fine with a deal like that. I mean it is either going to be that or guys who are super young and raw, but performing awfully in the low minors.

Red Sox Targeting Frazier?
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:40 AM) Swihart has no trade value at this point, he cannot stay healthy and his production has been terrible. He's 25 years old and not getting any younger as well. I'd much rather look for younger players that still have upside. Frazier really doesn't either, especially with pending free agency and about $5 million in salary still due.

What's up with Saladino?
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:51 AM) I'm nearly certain you were among the people who thought Saladino was a nice piece but not a starter on a WS contender. I could be wrong, though. I was. But I feel no need to celebrate a kid who could have been having a breakout season to prove us wrong having a potentially career altering back injury.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:50 AM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/06/28/jos...kees-white-sox/ "There were 10 clubs watching Quintana pitch Wednesday evening at Guaranteed Rate Field, where Quintana fired 6 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed two hits and four walks while striking out six in his team's 4-3 win."

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:10 PM) Jesus, this is such bulls***. Do you recognize how condescending and just f***ing rude it comes off when you guys post this? Put your almighty wisdom on the line and tell us what we should expect then. A clear step short of how much is in this post though.

Quintana
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) A scout compared Calhoun to Altuve offensively this week This sounds like one of those posts that will get posted over and over for a decade by Sox fans if they trade for the guy and he doesn't attain that level.

Quintana
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Which is exactly why he can't be the centerpiece to a Quintana trade. Yes, you want multiple waves of talent in a rebuild, but it's absolutely critical to have that first wave or two be filled with boatloads of talent so you actually have a quality foundation to build around. You don't trade your most valuable trade asset for a guy 5+ years when you still have significant positional gaps in the top half of your system. We desperately to need a few more high ceiling bats that can be paired with Moncada, Robert, Collins, Burger, etc. in the next 2 to 3 years. We just spent $50 million and two years of international signings on a guy that isn't that far away from the same time schedule, and who hadn't played competitive baseball for a full year. If it takes him an extra year or two to get here, but it is the sort of talent that is being talked about, he is worth more than any of the no power middle IFs that are being talked instead of him.

How do you rate the rebuild so far?
QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) Yep. Once I see further movement from our core I will begin to think otherwise. I also don't think Q's value will get any better than it was this summer. He is who he is and teams know it. There will be several options on the market as well. We will get a solid package but nothing better than this summer probably. Fire does melt steel.

How do you rate the rebuild so far?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:01 AM) How anybody could give the rebuild a 10 is beyond me. Until the guys we got in the Sale deal prove they are good major leaguers I'll stick with a grade of 2. Ditto the guys in the Eaton deal. I give this post a grade of 1.75.

Sox claim Alen Hanson
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:52 AM) I really love fast players that play fast. Leury had highly graded speed and never seemed to really show it. Hanson is a blur. He has been a huge plus so far, and seems to be hitting better than he ever did for Pittsburgh. Hopefully the historic attitude problems don't resurface when guys like Saladino and Moncada cut into his potential playing time.

zach collins
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) I have a feeling he more than some others will be slow to adjust to the grind of catching every day over a 100+ game season. Catching is universally known as developing slower than the other positions because of all of the extra defensive responsibilities they have such as blocking pitches, calling a game, throwing out baserunners, etc.

zach collins
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) I wish everyone would quit talking about how his defense is sooo good. Fact is, he is not hitting at all, and statistically is getting worse. If he does not improve, next year at this time he will be in the "Bust" category, along with a few too many other first rounders. Don't talk about the good, only focus on the bad, and give up on him in a season. Got it.

What's up with Saladino?
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Yeah back issues are no fun and seem to linger and end guys' careers sooner. I will never understand people who get so much joy out of I told you so.

What's up with Saladino?
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:13 AM) A lot of guys here fell in love with him, but most of the smarter minds took Saladino for what he is: a solid utility player. I bet you actually hurt your back trying to pat yourself on the back again.

White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) Flowers is hitting .331? Lol. The guy that played for the Sox couldn't hit his weight. Moving on from Flowers to sign an Aliva / Navarro platoon was a mistake, but I don't fault Rick for moving on from Tyler. He'd been here awhile, and outside of game calling and framing, he was a bad baseball player. His OPS+ with the Sox was 84. OBP .289. He was offensively inept. Some guys develop under different regimes, and that is certainly the case with Flowers (to this point). I'm not losing any sleep over it. I know there is some hard core hindsight going on here, but there was literally not a single person who wanted the Sox to keep Tyler Flowers. None.
