  1. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) I think a lot of people are severely overestimating the amount of time this team will be bad, and how they will be losing intentionally. 2017 will be mostly garbage, no doubt. But really, that's about it. This isn't the kind of rebuild where a moribund, barren franchise begins from zero, accumulating teenagers through draft picks. Thanks to their roster of great players with great contracts (that paradoxically did not produce a great team), the Sox are acquiring close to major league ready, impact talent. Things will change much more quickly than some people seem to think. Especially in the two-Wildcard era, this team will be competing by 2019 for sure, possibly even 2018. 2018 is crazy talk.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) Oh my goodness. it's fans like you that i detest. Why are fans like you so damn scary? Yes, the white sox will suck next year and the year after that. THEY'VE SUCKED FOR 5 YEARS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO WIN. Now if Moncada and every single elite or damn near elite pitching prospect we've acquired sucks, underachieves, etc, while flopping on multiple top 3 picks we get from being so bad then i guess you're right, we'll suck for 15 years. but that's not gonna happen. not even close. wake up and be thankful to b a sox fan in 2016. Eh. I have no interest in wasting major league money on an intentionally bad product, nor do I feel like getting excited about knowing this is going to be the worst time to be a Sox fan in decades. Hoping what might happen in five years isn't really a reason to be excited today for me. It is the route we have chosen and all, but it is so depressing. It isn't like you can sim this time period to see if it works like OOTP. You have to live through the misery. Bleh.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) It does matter what you think because you keep complaining about the change of course. We have been in the middle of long term suck since the end of 2006, with no plan except cobble things together and cross our fingers. It hasnt worked. They arent wanting to lose forever, there is a little bit of light in the horizon. I honestly cannot understand why this is so upsetting to you after watching the completely dead and dysfunctional product that has been thrown at us for the last 11 years Intentionally losing is the worst position of all.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) ok genius. So what do you suggest they do? And make it good. Because I will destroy that ass. It doesn't matter what I think. But getting excited about sucking for a really long time just doesn't hold any level of excitement for me. I already passed on Soxfest because who am I going to go see? I also passed on the kids club membership, because even free tickets aren't going to be worth it this year by the time parking and ballpark prices are paid. No interest in buying into intentional and long term suck.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) And 1 playoff win in 11 years does nothing for me. But hey. I will say buying into hype is totally right up your alley.
  6. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) I think you are at least a year too late with this observation. I think most everyone is ridiculously optimistic in theirs.
  7. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) Yes, Twitterbis where im reading all the posts. Reddit to a lesser extent but they are more knowledgeable overall. You just put Reddit and knowledgeable in the same sentence.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) The White Sox are attempting to build something long-term that will be special/sustainable. More importantly they're getting with the damn times. There's still much work to be done. But how can you not be virgin about to lose their virginity excited right now? Moncada will be a superstar. Yes, a SUPERSTAR. WHAT.A.TIME. Years of suck with no end in sight isn't really exciting for me, but hey.
  9. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) Its seems right now they half assing the rebuild till Quintana traded. It is actually just the opposite. Half-assing it would be taking the first deal they got offered instead of negotiating to get the best deal possible. Thankfully they aren't worried about impatient fans.
  10. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:34 PM) I'm starting to wonder if this is rebuild or not or they just wanna trade the adam laroche whiny babies. I think a Truther site is missing its mascot.
  11. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) Saw it for a 2nd time, actually liked it even more. You come in with a pre built attachment to the characters, and now that you know their fate, it makes it more emotional, at least for me. Also, RIP Leia. I could totally see that. I went with my kids, and they were blown away by everyone dying in the end.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Agree. Nightengale is a definitely a whitesox gawker. I think he'll end up in Houston for Martes, Tucker and someone other than Musgrove. But to me he is perfect for Pittsburgh. A team with limited payroll that can appreciate Q's contract; he's consistent and as "low risk" as possible re established upper tier pitchers; and Pitt consistently develops prospects, such that they are likely to recoup what they lose. Unless that someone other is Bregman, Rick Hahn screwed up if he comes home with that offer. That is just terrible.
  13. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Can we not be bitter towards teams who decide not to give us what we're asking for? It's perfectly reasonable to decide not to give Francis Martes, Kyle Tucker and Joe Musgrove for Jose Quintana. That is pretty insane honestly. That is a pretty terrible return for a front line starter.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/jose-qu...rts-CQ-RSS-Feed I think we all kind of figured Houston was out after they backed down during the winter meetings. That really isn't surprising at all.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Agreed . Way too much smoke. I do think we have gone way too far down this path for something to not get done at this point. Someone is going to blink, and probably within the next week if I had to guess.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Please tell me that's not Brandofan? lol. That isn't him, though BF has posted from time to time. He is way more intellectual than that.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Please boot him again. Adds nothing. Its the old Bmr, and he has been rebanned. We let him back in to see if he had changed at all, but he hasn't.
  18. QUOTE (BRIRO2017 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Good deal. Obviously this board is his life, so he has much more to lose. No? You spent the last 10 years trying to get back on to Soxtalk after getting banned originally. That's right, 10 years. You are here for a week, and are already calling people retards, and talking about people who have no life. Apparently you didn't figure out how to stay on Soxtalk during those 10 years.
  19. Tracey Myers ‏@TramyersCSN 16m16 minutes ago Marian Hossa will go on IR, Anisimov will come off, play tonight. Q now hopeful Hossa plays in outdoor game. #Blackhawks
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Keep in mind, BN is Kenny's mouthpiece too. It'll be interesting to see who breaks news since Rosenthal won't be tweeting for a bit. Except there seems to be other corroboration of his story.
  21. Steve Grzanich ‏@SteveGrzanich 54s54 seconds ago BULLETIN: Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has died at 60 reports @People magazine
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) Eh. If they were one year deals, I'd agree. BOth are signed through 2018. Would add $25M to the payroll both this year and next. That is quite a lot to swallow, and would definitely affect the Sox chances of competing in 2018 if a bunch of stuff went right this season with prospect development. If we were to take on those guys, I would want their entire top 5. To start with.
  23. Just keep in mind where Joel Sherman works...
  24. SportsCenter ‏@SportsCenter 20m20 minutes agoBREAKING: The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Rex Ryan.
  25. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) Can we stop suggesting Bregman as a potential return? Not happening. I do see Houston as the least likely team to break down and overpay out of all of the teams that have been talked about.
