  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:40 AM) It looks like they are stock piling them so they should get an outstanding rotation of of the ones that do. So in five years we can be back to where we are now, with outstanding pitchers, but no offense or defense. What a waste.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) If we're going to engage in a three-way deal with Pitt/NYY, I would prefer we take the opportunity to acquire 2 position players as the top two pieces, if possible. I know we love Rutherford, and he would be an idea 2nd piece. Just wish we could make that first piece either Meadows or Torres or Frazier. I agree in regards to stacking talent and not worrying about fit quite yet, but it sure seems like these other orgs are hoarding their position players ahead of their pitching prospects. I think that is an indication of value that we are accepting, which I wish we were unwilling to do. Yeah, if we aren't getting the top pieces from either system offensively, hopefully we are getting a car load of players back. Otherwise it is another return that makes sense on paper, but not in terms of any sort of actual roster building.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) Keller is way more valuable than Newman, IMO Not to the farm system we have now.
  4. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 06:55 AM) Am I the only one who likes Matt Barkley? I'm not sure he's the answer, but he certainly makes some plays and seems to have some poise on the field. I wouldn't mind the Bears keeping him around on a "prove it" one year starter deal and drafting a QB to be his understudy. Barkley has a terrible arm, and his accuracy has been ugly at times. That said, there is no reason he can't be a quality back up in this league. I don't want him as a starter, but no reason he can't pull a paycheck for a lot of years in the NFL.
  5. QUOTE (Moncada @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) We need potential elite hitter not more pitchers. Yeah, I'd rather not get back Keller and get back more bats. This team needs position prospects, otherwise we are just pushing the rebuild even out further down the road, assuming the pitching actually works out.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 04:18 PM) I started Better Call Saul two nights ago. Definitely has that same binge watch feel that Breaking Bad had. Also hoping I can convince the wife to watch Fargo. Figure we could get through that in five days easy. I can't wait for BCS to come back as well. It is just as well written as BB.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 10:25 PM) Frazier will probably be a 3 WAR player next year getting paid like 1.5 to 2 WAR player, so he certainly should have some surplus value. He is also a good enough player to warrant a QO and will likely return the acquiring team a draft pick. We should most definitely be able to get something of value for him. The Giants seem like a good fit to me. We have seen over and over again that one dimensional power bats don't have nearly as much value as they should on the open market right now. If Frazier was a FA, his annual rate would be really close to what he is expected to get this year in Arb.The only thing he has going for him is that he only has one year of obligation coming up, instead of the 2 or 3 he'd get as a FA.
  8. I'll never get the jealously and anger directed towards those who have information and are willing to share it.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 04:10 AM) How does this heat up the Frazier market, like, at all? Because they both hit 40 homers? How is that even a hot market? He'd be an upgrade to quite a few teams, but, even if I agree with them selling on him, he's not going to net a ton. Maybe a couple of 45-50 FV prospects with upside. Guys who are 3-5 years away. I'm OK with that return, but that's not a hot market. Yeah, if anything it throws more water on to the Abreu and Fraizer markets.
  10. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) Brian Bilek ‏@BrianBilek_ #WhiteSox are in trade talks on a "complex" deal they want to get done by Christmas. Nothing finalized but names & scope of deal are fluid. 7:45 AM - 23 Dec 2016 Brian Bilek ‏@BrianBilek_ 3 way trade would entail Quintana to #Pirates, McCucthen to #Yankees and a package of prospects that's headlined by Glasnow to #WhiteSox. Brian Bilek ‏@BrianBilek_ Outside of Glasnow, #WhiteSox would receive some combo of Mitch Keller, Blake Rutherford, Kevin Newman, Miguel Andujar & Elias Diaz. 7:46 AM - 23 Dec 2016 some raBBit bombs link If we are only moving Q, I think I am OK with that as long as the combo of players is the top of that list, and not the bottom.
  11. I GOTTA LOTTA PROBLEMS WITH YOU PEOPLE!
  12. The problem is those guys have about zero surplus value.
  13. Wow, that is like half of what he was looking for to start with.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) When ARod signed with Texas back in the day, I believe we had the second highest offer at $190M. With a new TV deal being in the works, I could definitely see Reinsdorf being very motivated to make a free agent splash to help boost its value. And clearly we'll have a ton of financial flexibility to fit such a salary in our budget. While it's unlikely we land a guy like Machado, I fully expect us to be in the mix. I remember it being like 8/160.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) Yeah, still far less then he'd get on the open market. Looking at one dimensional power hitters are getting? Not too sure of that.
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) I don't know if it says it's imminent, but perhaps a stamp of approval that it seems to be the case. I don't get the crap Merkin gets, he's a first division beat writer. Hayes is very good too. Doesn't have the 10-15 years of relationships Merkin does but covers the necessary stuff and is a real baseball fanatic. If you understand what job these guys have, and what they have to do to get information in their job, they are extremely good at what they do. Merkin especially is one of the best around. No he isn't going to spill inside information ahead of time, but if you know how to read what he posts, you can get really good information from him.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) My assumption is this is tailored to being about the Cubs/Cardinals because the only thing Phil Rogers ever talks about is Cubs/Cardinals and Arnie Munoz curveball. Curtis Granderson is crying somewhere.
  18. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) Rosenthal on MLBN just now says with the signing of Nova that the Pirates could be more inclined to add Glasnow as a piece to the White Sox. My first thought was that signing Nova could well be so that they could include Glasnow and not miss him as much.
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 08:59 AM) I think people don't realize how many prospects Kenny traded that weren't that good. "prospects" It is much easier to list the ones that were good TBH.
  20. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 10:49 PM) There's been multiple reports that the Yankees never got past the "Oh you want Frazier or Torres?" stage. If there are two teams bidding against each other, I would guess it's between Houston & Pittsburgh. To go along with the reports that Moncada was untouchable.
  21. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 06:20 PM) They aren't going to deal Q. The roster isn't going to be dramatically different aside from Robertson gone. That's how Reinsdorf does things. Fire can't melt steel, amirite?
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 05:55 PM) Yanks did show interest in Quintana (@jonmorosi on it) but don't want to part w/frazier or Torres so likely a non-starter https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/811720851435438080 Bye Felicia
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 05:34 PM) Robertson would bring a fair amount back, but I almost feel it's best to move Jones and Robertson at the deadline. Teams have shown a willingness to pony up big prospects for stud, high leverage relievers. Just last year the Yankees got two huge returns for Chapman and Miller. That is the exact opposite of what is being reported re:Robertson.
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) The Sox have 3 other prominent players to trade and you don't hear a thing about them. They have Q and Jones. That is it. The rest are a list of names that aren't bringing much in return in the current market place.
