  1. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) How about when Colon struck out Bonds 3 times and then Bonds faced him later in the game and hit a ball about 947 feet? I was there. I was there too. I was sitting in Section 101, and Bonds hit that ball about 15 rows over my head. It had to be the hardest hit ball I have seen in person.
  2. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) I would think any Q + Robertson deal would have to start with Torres and Rutherford, and then the negotiation over the final couple pieces happens. For that reason, I really like how the Yankees system matches up with the Sox. Haven't heard much from Houston since the Gammons rumor, but I wonder how much of that is that they just don't have the prospects that the Pirates and Yankees have to get Q. If they are willing to deal Bregman, they can get a deal done with the White Sox. My gut feeling is that with as by their book as they are, they have no desire to get it done. They are almost Vulcan in that once their logic tells them no, they won't do it.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) I just think we might be better served with a possibly elite CF than a passable 2B. I mean, in a post-shift world, 2B is a spot where Neil Walker and Daniel Murphy can fake it. I feel like Moncada's toolset may be wasted there. I love this deal SO Much better if we turn Moncada into a CF than a 2B.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) Sing was a good kids movie. Plenty of pop songs, old and new - good actors. It's worth a watch if you have kids between 7 and 12. We saw it yesterday with the kids. I got a lot of laughs out of it.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) Torres + Rutherford + Andujar + Adams or Montgomery is a solid package This would also be a nice haul. Torres and Rutherford might be our two top position prospects before Moncada was traded for.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) That is great stuff. LOL.... "not to be confused with Dr. Dre the talented musical artist". (Or just annoy him) Agreed. Great read. Good luck to LL (Not to be confused with Cool J.)
  7. QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) There should be 5-6 pieces coming back for Q and Robertson Torres + Frazier/Rutherford + Sheffield/Kaprielian + Andujar + Tate/Adams + Sands/Perez If that framework actually got done, it would be by far the best trade of the off season for the White Sox.
  8. The White Sox were getting no hit by Dave Stieb going to the bottom of the 9th. It was to the point where the fans were rooting for the no hitter. Then Rudy Law, Bryan Little and Harold Baines went back to back to back off of Stieb. Craziest switch in a game I have ever seen. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CH...198508240.shtml
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) Honestly, I think he IS if it is a deal with a ton of depth instead of one that is top-heavy like we usually expect. The strength of the Yankees system is that it is chock full of guys like that. Rutherford/Kaprielian/Mateo/Sheffield, for example, would be a pretty amazing haul. Agreed. The Yankees have so much positional talent. They also have about 4 guys who could headline a deal by themselves. Granted I want to see the Sox clean off of the top of the Yankees, list, but at the same time, there are a lot of ways a deal could get done as they have both depth and quality through their system. The telling thing is that even with all of the names listed, there are still plenty of other quality guys who haven't been discussed. Billy McKinney hasn't been mentioned, and neither have guys like Wilkerman Garcia, Donny Sands, or Leo Molina that could be on the back end of a deal.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) My guess is that the Sox want Torres to headline, but the Yankees are refusing and offering Frazier instead. The Yankees, realizing Hahn has enough other suitors to not budge from Torres, are looking for ways to add more value if they're going to give up Torres. I'd be shocked if it would be both Torres and Frazier. Like mentioned above, best case IMO is Torres/Rutherford + a couple interesting arms like Domingo Acevedo and/or Jonathan Holder, or maybe even Torres/Kaprielian + a couple smaller guys. And we should be happy with that. Yes, you could theoretically max out by separating the pieces, but you can't expect literally EVERY deal to come at max efficiency, and if all it takes to grease the deal is an expensive reliever, then just do it and move on. Sox still have Nate Jones to use to exploit the reliever market. Totally agree here.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) If you get money back does that mean that what you get back does not count against the luxury limit? The problem the Yankees have with Robertson is if they go over the threshold, his salary in essence is quite a bit more than they are paying him. This is accurate.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) I think posters are in for a world of dissapointment if they think we'd get both Torres & Frazier in a Quintana deal. Robertson is worth something, but his addition is not resulting in another top 20 prospect, even if we pay some cash. I think any framework here revolves around one of two pairs of headliners, with either Torres + Rutherford (more desirable) or Frazier + Mateo (less desirable). Perhaps adding Robertson is what's required to get the Yankees to include Torres in a trade, as he may be the lone "untouchable" in the system. I think the complementary pieces would primarily be pitching based, with maybe a lesser positional prospect like Andujar included. Honestly, a Torres, Rutherford, Sheffield, + package for Quintana & Robertson would be a huge haul IMO. I think expecting much more than that is completely unrealistic. I think the question isn't if Robertson is worth one of those guys on his own. The question is would Robertson being in a deal push the front line guy from a guy like Rutherford to a guy like Torres, or would it maybe force it to be two headliners plus two other guys, instead of one headliner and three other guys.
  13. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) Now the Yankees want the Sox to eat money in a Quitnana trade??? Yankees want to flip Robertson like they flipped Miller and Chapman, must think they have some recipe to keep him from blowing 6 run leads in the 9th inning. I honestly do not doubt them. In any case if they want Robertson + Quintana AND want the Sox to eat money (this demand coming from the Yankees still beggars belief) they must be willing to part with Torres + Rutherford and more. So that's good news for talks with other teams. It also means its time for the Nationals to nut up and make their move for Robertson. NYY has a chance to get under the salary cap next year for sure.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 27, 2016 -> 08:18 AM) Eat some of(hell eat the whole damn thing) and just bring back a serious haul. Again, if it upgrades the front line guy to be their top guys, then get it done.
  15. QUOTE (BRIRO2017 @ Dec 26, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) Couldnt care less.... Then go back to where ever you have been for the last decade...
  16. QUOTE (Moncada @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) I'd take Vlad Jr over most of the guys that have been talked about in this thread Absolutely.
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 10:44 PM) Some random dude on Twitter pooping: #pirates acquire Quintana/Gardner/Cash, #yankees get McCuthen/Robertson, #whitesox get Newman/Keller/Rutherford/Sheifleld/Tate/comp bal pick I'd be so stoked. Now that is interesting.
  18. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) I believe he meant the pirates make the deal and trade cutch afterwards. Also, I agree with those questioning why wouldn't just eat some money to get a deal done and boost the return. I would be willing to take on money if it means getting Meadows, but that is about it.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Yea the Matt Barkley hype can officially stop now. The more they have opened up the playbook, the worst he has looked. He has zero arm strength so he has to anticipate where his receivers will be more than most. Most of his picks seem to be putting the ball into an area where the WR doesn't end up going.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) If by one dimensional you mean all he can do batting is hit HR's then I guess he is one dimensional. However, the true meaning of one dimensional since you are comparing him to guys on the open market now is power while being severely limited defensively. Since Frazier plays 3rd base and plays it decently I wouldn't classify him as 1 dimensional. Thus the logic behind your opinion of his value falls short. Todd Frazier on the open market would get how much per year? If EE is a $20 million player, Frazier is probably in the $12 to 15 million range, tops? His arb estimate this year is $13.5 million. He is a one dimensional hitter, who had by far his worst year defensively. He put up big negatives in UZR and Range factor. He even put up a Dwar that was negative by two wins. That would make him a one dimensional player.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) Do we really accept that as fact at this point though? Worst case, couldn't you just complete the trade and then move McCutchen afterwards? Secondly, isn't equally s***ty that the White Sox are unwilling to take on salary to complete the transaction? If the White Sox take on McCutchen, they reduce greatly the prospect return.
  22. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) Does cutch really make that much sense for the Yankees? That team really needs pitching I have no idea what the Yankees motivation is for him, but there seems to be smoke for the fire.
  23. This is pretty alarming. The news service Reuters did a nationwide survey on lead exposure in children. The findings are very scary. There are areas out there with 20 to 30% of kids testing high. To put this into prospective, the findings in Flint Michigan were a fraction of that total. Please see the chart enclosed in the story. http://www.reuters.com/investigates/specia...a-lead-testing/
  24. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) The Pirates do not want to part with Meadows or Bell, the three team isn't likely to happen and the Pirates need to move salary in order to take on Q's. Yet, the Pirates are still pushing to get a deal done, how? If they are willing to give up McCutchen instead to get more prospects from the Yankees, more power to them. I am not particular about where the kids come from, but I am particular about getting a big haul for Q. If that means getting guys like Andujar and Rutherford from the Yankees instead, cool.
  25. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) I know it's not in Jerry's nature, but wouldn't it make sense to pick up some of Q's money to extract more value from the Pirates? Then you can let Cutch regain value during the season, trade him at the deadline, and move Meadows in. Sox could ask for Glasnow, Bell, and Newman. I guess we could, but really is there enough money involved that it would materially improve the deal? I mean I would take on the extra money if it mean the difference between Kellen and Meadows, but would it?
