2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) It's not a voluntary retirement though, doctors won't clear him to play. He's "medically disabled". Yeah, he is not walking away, he is being forced to walk away medically.

David Robertson is a fantastic closer
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) And Sale cost himself two starts by going crazy pants on the team. Karma? And I think David Robertson blew one of those saves immediately after getting over worked because of the Sale meltdown.

Justin Morneau 2017 DH
It would be interesting to see what they told Morneau to get him here this year. I'd love to have him back again next year hitting in between Abreu and Frazier in the 4th spot.

2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) I'm sure there will be some sort of injury settlement for the part that isn't covered by insurance. There isn't any need for a settlement. The contract is fully guaranteed.

Rick Hahn on Inside the Clubhouse
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) Second to final paragraph. We've heard every spring training for three years now "take a flier" guys like Paulino and Belisario could be dealt at the break. Some of it has been bad luck (injuries to Crain and Floyd), or injuries such as Jackson or Avila (really too long to count) but we haven't managed to turn many of those types into gold like we used to. For every Phil Humber we hold onto too long, there have been another five Bonifacios, Teahens and Beckhams with even less value than when they were acquired. Even the classic names like DeAza, Santos and Reed were't turned into anything that helped the big league club. Conor Gillaspie would be another fine example...someone who is exposed long term and whose value, however negligible it was, was wiped out because the Sox don't have any other options from the minors than overplaying him. Even this year, they could have dealt Shields or Gonzalez and didn't pull the trigger, for whatever reason. Last year, one of the first cuts was Junior Guerra in October. Just lots of questionable decision making. To protect who, at that time? Who was offered for Shields and Gonzalez?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Lol at Chad Le Clos. Maybe don't talk s*** to the GOAT I just said on facebook that it was like talking s*** to Michael Jordan in his prime. All you are going to do is piss him off.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) lol, that means he was 1 day short when they sent him down. He'll get it now. Really? He was that close. Wow. Just the fact they called him up today means he has it already then.

2016 MLB catch all thread
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I don't think they have to pay the whole contract. There might be insurance on it. And they still get money went to them by the Tigers regardless if they do or not. Similar to how the Shields situation works if someone takes him. Texas supposedly has the contract insured.

Avi to 15 day DL
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) Still might go with Shuck in center lol I am sure Shuck will play most of all, but seeing as they tried to get rid of Shuck at least twice already this year, I can't see them not playing Coats at least a fair amount.

Avi to 15 day DL
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:27 PM) I'd sure like to see the club actually give Coats a real look this time. Had just 29 plate appearances in over 40 roster days last time. Can't really expect a rookie to succeed like that. He should get some time vs LHP at DH, and some corner OF time when days open up. Can also be a D replacement late in games, PR and PH. Just to know if there's anything there. He doesn't have anything left to prove in AAA. With everyone they are missing, they don't really have a choice right now.

Jose Abreu
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) OK. All I pointed out was 3 straight years of decline is inaccurate. 2 straight years of decline is accurate. But nice to see you want to get involved. I know you have never pointed out a post not being accurate. Sure. 3 posts ago. Even after he agreed with you, it was turned into being mad or something ridiculous to keep it going. This is the kind of unnecessary stuff that just grinds the board to a halt. We got it, move on.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) You're the one who is upset. I am just pointing out saying in decline 3 straight years is inaccurate. I guess accuracy isn't meaningful when you post. lol, you really want someone to argue with you. Even when they don't you turn it into one.
