  1. I'd put in a waiver claim on him for sure.
  2. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) You're always defending the White Sox, but here, it's indefensible. So let's assume Sale and Q were not receiving the return value they expected. Ok, now what about Robertson, Cabrera, Eaton, Gonzalez, Shields? None of them were receiving interest? I can't believe it. Are we to believe trading Duke was the ONLY deal we thought worthy? They screwed themselves publically acknowledging this team was mediocre, then doing nothing to change it. If someone can tell me something we actually passed up that is worthwhile... It is all assumptions and anger at this point.
  3. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) I can't think of any reason not to trade Melky, Robertson, Gonzalez, or Shields. I guess Frazier you could hope he rebounds to finish the year and sell in the offseason but no reason with the others. Because the return wasn't going to give you enough to justify the deal. I mean, why do we need the next Leury Garcia? If there was a legitimate deal out there, that is one thing, but I have yet to see that we passed up something that would have really given us a better angle for hte future.
  4. Or people could just be mature and not resort to name calling. I mean, seriously, it isn't that hard.
  5. That really isn't a lot of money if you can get him anywhere close to his early time here. Would a change of scenery help? I don't know.
  6. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) True. I can't remember the last time JR did what's best for this organization? This whole damn thing is stale, lacks a direction and is pretty boring. Nothing like Hahn saying 'We are mediocre' than not addressing necessary changes at the trade deadline. To me, this is simply irresponsible. Two consecutive seasons of not selling off key assets at the deadline. The whole "nothing prsented itself to us for the long term sustainable success" crap is getting so old. You are a bad GM, Rick. You are a bad president, Kenny. And Mr. Reinsdorf-- you are out of touch on what it takes to achieve modern day success, so yes you are a bad owner. My favorite team in all of sports sucks and that pisses me off. Here is the problem. If the return on a deal is only mediocre, how does that help you get any better? I mean they were willing to deal guys if they got the right offer, but they didn't.
  7. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) I have no idea.. I made that pretty clear in my original post.. No one knows what was offered or talked about, its all rumors to this point Then why assume otherwise?
  8. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) This is a team that traded its top pitching prospect for Drew Pomeranz, are we really supposed to believe its the Red Sox that are the ones holding these talks up? If we could place bets and then after the trade deadline the GMs came out and said heres what we offered, heres why we said no I would put all my money on the White Sox trying to strong arm Boston into giving up way more than whats necessary. Where are you seeing that they offered Moncada?
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) Has anyone confirmed yet that we made no deals? I know some deals are announced late. And what's this bonus time stuff flavum was talking about? Haven't seen it said as of yet.
  10. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:48 PM) To be perfectly honest, I would be just fine if they said Moncada, Benintendi, and Devers for Sale. Done Deal. Obviously, I don't know the specifics of the discussions, but if were dicking around with lottery ticket A Ball players being added im just dumbfounded by it. That's 3 of the top 23 prospects in baseball, 2 of which are performing at a high level in Double A. That's MORE than enough for Chris Sale. This will more than likely be an unpopular take on the proposed Sale packages They also aren't offering Moncada, and might not even be offering Benintendi.
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) That is the worst of all of this. If you couldnt get fair value for Sale and Q fine but the fact you didnt try to bring in some young talent for ANY of the other guys is unbelievable. Where are you seeing that they haven't tried anything else?
  12. Gallo sounds like he is going to MIL in Lucroy deal, which means no chance for a late Rangers push.
  13. LuCroy to Mets is dead.
  14. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) I have no interest in getting Bradley, Betts, or Bogaerts in any deal for Sale/Q.. to me, that trade makes no sense. Not only would it lower the package, we would open a massive hole in our rotation and while getting a very good position player, I don't see how we are in any different situation than we are in now. If they are going to trade Sale/Q, it should be for a haul of top prospects. I know that they all wont work out, but I like that road better in terms of how this team can have a real chance of building something special To me, getting young guys that are already proven makes a of sense. You still get some cost control, and you lose some of the uncertainty of turning into the next Brien Taylor.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:25 PM) Why is that such a priority? Enough of the retooling bulls***, I'm more than fine with getting only minor league prospects and waiting for them to develop. If you trade Sale, you have no business in receiving MLB ready talent. There is some level of value to getting a young star that you KNOW is a major leaguer versus guys who are projected to be. There is a difference between getting a guy who could be like Kris Bryant, and getting Kris Bryant.
  16. QUOTE (heirdog @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) Im starting to get the feeling that DD is like some Soxtalk posters...beating a dead horse. No Boegarts, Betts, Bradley or Moancada, then no Sale, Dave. See you at the winter meetings when you will put them in play after missing out on the playoffs. If you wait until the off season you can get a player that is on a major league roster right now.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) Looks like Beltran is going to Texas, not sure for what yet. Tate
  18. Yeah, Boston still not willing to give up Moncada, and maybe on Ben
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) I see the chances of Shields opting out as about 5%. The dude isn't going to get a deal at $22M AAV over the next two. He'd be an idiot to opt out. Here is the question. Could he get 4/60? Could he get 3/50? That ups his promised money, and at his age that could be big. It isn't as simple as being over 22AAV.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) Do we really want to dilute the board to the point where every one is neutered? We believe that people here are smart enough to debate a topic without needing to resort to name calling. If you consider that "neutered", then the answer is yes.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) Meh, still don't think it happens. The posturing by the two sides seems to far apart. Boston seems to be you are lucky to get Ben. Chicago seems to be I want it all.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) Yeah, again, I get it. And again, if you are going to dock me for that $63 million, it takes his value way the hell down...meaning, if you are going to include it in the equation for receiving Sale back, it's not like I am getting a prospect, it's like I am getting a $63 million guy that has never played. Then you hang up and listen to what the Dodgers, Texas, and the Yankees have to say... or you wait until the off season when you have even more options.
  23. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1m1 minute ago Asked a source how strongly I should pursue possibility of #RedSox acquiring #WhiteSox’s Sale. His response: “Don’t waste your time.” 109 retweets 78 likes
  24. The admin/mod staff just had a discussion over board content as of late. The board rules flat out state that personal attacks on both other posters and people in the organization are not allowed, and can be something that gets you suspended and/or banned. I know there hasn't been a lot of enforcement of this lately, but it has to stop. It has reached ridiculous amounts lately. Consider this everyone's warning. Personal attacks can and will bring suspensions of 10 days, or longer, as merited. When it comes to debate you can argue about the subject material, but not the subject. The same applies to the organization.
