  1. If the rankings were re-done by highest ceilings, how would you top 3 look? How about by highest floor?
  2. Turns out Kolek for Gonzalez wasn't that crazy afterall.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 11:32 PM) Scott MerkinVerified account ‏@scottmerkin Sale, who has all the jerseys he discarded Saturday, is hoping to do something charitable with the situation. Now that would be a cool way to turn this story around. Good for Chris.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:50 PM) Beckham was fantastic at 3B in his rookie year. Saladino did a good job over there too.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) On the radio yesterday, Barry Rosner said the Rangers and Dodgers are the two teams really going after Sale. Doesn't seem like Boston is involved Urias +++ makes the most sense for the Sox. They get the next Chris Sale, and some other pieces. Sharing a facility with the Dodgers in AZ, they should be as clear on who they like in their system more than any other team in baseball.
  6. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:47 PM) I used to like B&B. Mostly because it seemed like they had fun. But the Aroldis Chapman trade was the last straw. Bernstein ripped the Blackhawks over Patrick Kane (no, I don't want to get into it again), but Bernstein shook off the Chapman trade as, well, sometimes you overlook these things to win. I think someone tried to call him out on it, and he pulled, the "Well, it's a different situation..." No, it's not. Either you are against abuse or you aren't. Either you give the guy a pass or you don't. Either you wait for the law to run its course or you don't. There's no gray area when it comes to abuse in any form. Or any team. Whether it be Penn State, the Blackhawks or the Cubs. I am done with them and I am done with him. Bernstein is all against the violation of women... unless it is to his own benefit, and then hey totally cool.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Oh no Sale is losing to the Cubs trade him now! Lol Ha, right. I jumped in here to see what the score was. I was thinking we were getting killed by the tone. Nope, 2-1 Cubs in the 3rd, lol.
  8. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) yeah and hundreds who will be and dozens who will be stars. just nobody knows which are which when they are 18 years old. As opposed to one you KNOW will be.
  9. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Exactly. Reread my post. I hope some poor sucker thinks Abreu is the player he used to be. Maybe some GM will overpay for him. lol, sure.
  10. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) Why are they signing guys who won't become major leaguers? The minors are loaded with thousands of guys who will never play in the majors.
  11. QUOTE (ron883 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) It's great that Abreu forgot how to hit homeruns. Huge, huge disappointment. Hopefully the sox find some sucker who thinks he is still a starting caliber first basemen. He just isn't this year. Trade him away. If he sucks that bad, why would someone else want him?
  12. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Greenie and I and the other malcontents are not quibbling over Tatis, per se. we are complaining about constantly trading young guys for over-the-hill bums. If guys like Tatis aren't going to become major leaguers, it isn't a bad thing to turn them into actual major leaguers. That is everyone else's point.
  13. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) I understand how the draft works OK, I'm just making a point. You don't pony out $700K to a 16 year old unless you think the guy *might* turn into something special. Sure. But that still doesn't change the fact that he wasn't considered one of the top players in Latin America, nor in the White Sox system.
  14. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Yes you did, and you misrepresented another poster's opinion in the process, so there's that. Eh, not so much, but that's OK. It is obvious what picture he was trying to paint there. He was assuming what the team was going to do, and that it was going to be the worst case scenario.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Northside is better to ask this than me, but I'd say high 30s to mid 40s. That's not how Latin America signings work compared to the draft. My guess was at the very end of the top 30, at best.
  16. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) well the Sox valued him ($700,000) the same as our #7 prospect curbelo. Not really, no. It is a completely different set up and signing structure. If Curbelo had been an LA signing, he would have gotten a ton more money.
  17. QUOTE (captain54 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) I wasn't blaming anyone for anything. It's a waste of time responding to you. Even if I preclude my response by stating I'm not looking to be confrontational, you still feel the need to defend the organization to the death, then come after me. It's almost surreal Anyway, one more time. Then that's it No I don't know for sure what's going on. I don't claim to. I've had minor dealings with JR via charities, spoken to Kenny Williams at SoxFest, and have seen him around town here and there. I was friendly with a sportswriter who's since passed. Also, I have followed this organization for 35 yrs. Those are my credentials for your review, sir The decisions that are made that have to do with the future of the Sox, involve one individual who a) has a ticket for lifetime devotion and loyalty to the Chairman b) has a tremendous ego. c) won the lotto as the GM in 2005. d) practically drove the franchise into the dark ages, then gets promoted I've got a problem with that. You or others may not. Whatever Bottom line, that's my take on it, and I don't really give a damn whether you agree or not. I think it is odd that you have such a large problem with people who don't share your opinion. Even when not in the conversation, you still feel the need to project your anger into someone else's conversation, as you did earlier. We all know you hate the organization and the people who run it. That same theme runs through all of your posts. I, on the other hand, am typically optimistic and derive and refuse to waste time on anger, from the organization, and don't feel the need to turn every conversation into a negative one, especially when it isn't especially relevant, just like the previous post. I get you feel the need to be angry. We all can see that. It would be nice to have a conversation where that anger wasn't needlessly interjected, again. I mean you can absolutely post your opinion here, but I don't get why you assume a personal insult when someone doesn't agree with you. It is a message board, and not everyone is going to agree with you.
  18. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Meanwhile, the poster wasn't blaming the front office for anything in that particular post, but rather sharing his opinion about what he thought would be management's upcoming course of action given their current situation. So that is what seems appropriate, given what a message board is presumably designed to allow someone to do - sharing opinions. Which is exactly what I did.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Here's how often people mentioned him before June this year. https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Asoxt...2F2016&tbm= Sorry, he was mentioned once. When signed. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry3190653 Out of curiosity, if the Shields trade had never happened, what is your best guess as to where you would have ranked Tatis in the Sox system?
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) And I guarantee 95% of the people on the board didn't give a s*** about Tatis and probably were writing him off as a White Sox LatAm signing. My guess is a vast majority of the board didn't even know he existed. After the trade many were penciling him in as a future MLB player. Yeah, I don't recall hearing his name ever between the July 2 signing and the trade.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) Turner and Fulmer will be working out of the bullpen. Ranaudo will be a starter. There is no spot in the rotation for him or I would guess he would stay. One of them will be gone when Rodon soon returns.
  22. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) I'm aware. That doesn't really help the "lineup".
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Yet somehow Jacob Turner remains on the big league team. LOL. Mark The difference is that Turner is available to pitch out of the pen right now. Ranaudo isn't going to be able to pitch for days because he just started. For a fried Bullpen, that is meaningful.
  24. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Surprised about the Frazier news. Which most likely means that any potential extension talks haven't gone anywhere.
  25. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) You are hilarious. Already defending the front office for what they may or may not do. Of course the message he was responding to was one that was blaming the front office without any actual knowledge of what was going on, so that seems appropriate.
