Marlins scouting Mig Gonzalez
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Here's how often people mentioned him before June this year. https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Asoxt...2F2016&tbm= Sorry, he was mentioned once. When signed. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry3190653 Out of curiosity, if the Shields trade had never happened, what is your best guess as to where you would have ranked Tatis in the Sox system?

Marlins scouting Mig Gonzalez
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) And I guarantee 95% of the people on the board didn't give a s*** about Tatis and probably were writing him off as a White Sox LatAm signing. My guess is a vast majority of the board didn't even know he existed. After the trade many were penciling him in as a future MLB player. Yeah, I don't recall hearing his name ever between the July 2 signing and the trade.

Anthony Ranaudo starting vs. Cubs on Wednesday
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) Turner and Fulmer will be working out of the bullpen. Ranaudo will be a starter. There is no spot in the rotation for him or I would guess he would stay. One of them will be gone when Rodon soon returns.

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) I'm aware. That doesn't really help the "lineup".

Anthony Ranaudo starting vs. Cubs on Wednesday
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Yet somehow Jacob Turner remains on the big league team. LOL. Mark The difference is that Turner is available to pitch out of the pen right now. Ranaudo isn't going to be able to pitch for days because he just started. For a fried Bullpen, that is meaningful.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Surprised about the Frazier news. Which most likely means that any potential extension talks haven't gone anywhere.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) You are hilarious. Already defending the front office for what they may or may not do. Of course the message he was responding to was one that was blaming the front office without any actual knowledge of what was going on, so that seems appropriate.

The Top 30 White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2016
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) We are going to do a #AskFutureSox mail bag of sorts about the rankings. Various writers would answer, depending on the question. So, if you have in-depth questions, post them here and we'll put them in an article in a few days. Go! Which player has the best chance to make a huge leap in the rankings by this time next year?

2016-17 NHL Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I'm not really in the camp that says he'll be a star, but I think he's a solid 2nd line player out of the box who can play on this team for a long time. I don't know anything about the kid other than the press clippings, but if you get a solid 2nd liner out of it, that is all you need as the Hawks.

Marlins scouting Mig Gonzalez
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) This board would not care about Tatis at all if he weren't traded for Shields. QFT

The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
Profar has a career OPS of .685 so far. Gordon Beckham is .679. I don't know if it is injury related or what, but so far Profar has fallen very short of the hype.

7/26 games
QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) Good to hear that he's getting noticed! Would love to see our international scouting to start paying dividends stateside. It is coming. A bunch of these guys have flowed into the lower levels of the minors. Arizona and Great Falls are loaded with international signings. Some have even flowed into the full season teams.

7/27 Games
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) Was just realizing there's no UDFAs in the MLB, all drafted or signed internationally, rooting for McRee to break that Yeah, it is nice to look at the numbers, but the odds of them meaning anything important are about zero.

Todd Frazier Trade Thread: NYM?
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:52 AM) I would consider offering Frazier an extension if he is interested. He's better than our usual 3B disasters. I believe this is what will happen with Frazier.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) Yeah, all teams' top 5 prospects are not created equal, that much is for certain. But what would you want beyond their top 2 guys? I wouldn't trade Sale for two top 10 guys and a few lottery tickets. Would you? I have to get at least one legit and projected star player out of a deal to start. Not just a good who is projected to be a starter. It should be a guy who looks like he will anchor a position for the next decade. The second guy should be a very good prospect as well. Then we can start talking about more projectionable guys.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Well all I know is if I am Rick and another GM calls me and tries to tell me ANY of his prospects is not on the table for Chris or Jose, I'm just going to laugh and hang up. That is simply preposterous. So true. We don't HAVE to deal Chris Sale. If teams aren't willing to back up the truck of their minor league system, there is no good reason to do so.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (FT35 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Right...of all the teams Boston would be the most likely to rebound...but if we take 3 of their top 5 prospects, plus a couple other pieces, they will be short on top prospects to deal for significant pieces for a couple of years--unless they don't win the WS this year or show they have a huge shot at it early next year and sell vets to rebuild. Same position competitively as us--all available resources at the MLB level--1 maybe 2 main players of interest in your system. If the MLB team struggles to win, they will have to pay. Now we all know they CAN/WILL pay...but the reason they are successful has been the fact that they have developed a nice crop of talent from their system. If we raid that system--they will feel the heat from that in one way or another. Boston has a super young and controled core of position players. They aren't nearly as worried about prospects going forward as most teams.

White Sox Listening on Sale
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) I want the same thing as you guys do, but I really don't think the Red Sox are giving up both Moncada and Benintendi on top of several other top 100 prospects. Everyone agrees it's too much. "WELL THEN THEY DON'T GET SALE. SIMPLE AS THAT." Exactly. There are many other options on the market. They aren't as good as Sale, but if the cost is too high, they'll settle for less. And that's fine -- I want to keep Sale personally -- but my point is this: we aren't getting Moncada and Benintendi, so don't let your heart move that direction. Why would you settle for lesser return on a superstar pitcher with his contract? Either you get a ridiculous return, or you don't make a deal. Basically if you make a deal, you have to feel really, really good about the sum of the parts you get being better as a whole than Sale will be going forward. If the goal is to fill multiple holes, you have to feel pretty confident about getting at least two, if not 3 good starters out of this deal, with the chance at having at least one positional star come out of this deal. If not, why are you making the deal?

The Top 30 White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2016
Again, I am thrilled to see so many Latin signings starting to push through on to the list. We should have some of the first group of those kids hitting the majors very soon.

2016-17 NHL Thread
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) The Hawks now are so much like what the Red Wings were for so many years, right? It always seemed like the Wings used to get richer all the time, year in and year out, just because everybody wanted to play with them. Totally. They had a core of a few main guys, and they would just pull the rest of the team out of their ass on a regular basis.

Dodgers kicking Tires on Q
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) Those 2 reach FA in different years so one of those statements is incorrect. Sale 2019, Q 2020. They both CAN be free agents in 2020.

Dodgers kicking Tires on Q
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Profar can be a FA in 2020, so I don't see any appeal there. Just like Sale and Quintana.

2016 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) Fair enough. I also dont want to make it sound like I think Trump wouldnt try this s***, Im sure he would. I just think its very one sided to just make it sound like Trump is the only candidate in this election who is capable of doing something like that. It might never be able to be completely proven but the women who made accusations getting audited right after is pretty damning imo and is fair game in this election. The important part is to not be honest and to maintain plausible deniability.

2016 Republican Thread
I do have to laugh at the wikileaks reversal of opinions. When the topic was Iraq War, the right wing was calling the leakers traitors, and questioning the source, while the left just embraced the information. Now when the topic is the DNC and Hillary, the left is worried about the source and the right just embraced the information. I wonder why we never go anywhere politically...
