  1. When a team is coming off of a 121 win season, the last thing they need to care about is who is DHing in 2025. Get your skill positions figured out up the middle, and then work backwards. DH is literally the last thing.
  2. The goal isn't to get back to 70 wins. You need superstars to win in this game.
  3. He's a top 100 talent, but he has to be able to stay on the mound. If he isn't, he doesn't have that value.
  4. Unless the Yankees see something fixable in him that the Sox haven't been able to get to.
  5. The Garrett Crochet trade will tell me most everything I need to know about what the Chris Getz era is going to look like. If Andrew Benitendi is in the deal, it means Chris has zero power and it just doing exactly what Jerry tells him to do, as no unencumbered GM waters down the deal for their superstar with a bad contract. Maximizing this deal could literally take a year or two off of the rebuild if you can find multiple offensive starts from this deal. Reduce that return for a stupid contract that you should just eat anyway, and that doesn't happen.
  6. This has to be a big year for hitting in the minors. The excuses from the past are worth less and less with every successive day that goes by. If this rebuild has a chance in the middle term future (3-5 years) we need a recovery from guys like Ramos and Montgomery, and some breakout seasons from the guys with some potential.
  7. The Bears have been bad? Since when? Oh right.
  8. And there is a massive difference between getting the guy for 100k and getting him for Fedde and Kopech.
  9. Especially because it seems to be an outlier with the rest of his time at 1B.,
  10. Every single MiLB free agent should be calling Chris Getz as this is BY FAR their best chance at playing on an MLB roster this year and getting that sweet paycheck, pension, and insurance.
  11. This too. A 6 year Jake Burger is worth a lot more to this team than a 3 year Jake Burger starting to hit his arb years.
  12. It's not the worst idea you have ever had... which is saying something.
  13. But in previous years he was fine, as well as when he played 1st in BAL, which usually means something else is going on, like a case of the yips, injury, frustration, or who knows what.
  14. Typically you can hide a pitcher in the bullpen to get them enough roster time to own them. But this year the guys in this draft are probably better than most of the internal candidates anyway so who knows.
  15. Would be interesting to see about a bat and and an arm. Lord knows we could use both. Don't know if any of the starters project, but we could definitely make room for a reliever, or maybe even two. The power 1b from the Dodgers and the CF definitely sound interesting in a lost season.
  16. It's weird because the year before he made zero errors in 9 games. Wonder what was different?
  17. One thing that Sheets doesn't have is any kind of an arm, whatsoever. I obviously haven't actually seen the kid play at all and am fully going off of the scouting reports, but when a guy is being talked about as one of the best arms in the game, you think about a position where he can use it. Based on all of his scouting reports, he sounds like has a decent fallback as a 1b. I will also note that the samples are incredibly small on fangraphs, but they didn't seem to hate him as a defender. In 20 innings he played true neutral at 1B and got dinged for range at 3B in 68 innings. Granted we are talking about 2.5 and 7.5 games here so incredibly SSS to be trying to decide a defensive future based on those numbers. His UZR/150 of 4.7 at 3B would have qualified him as 6th of 14 qualified players last year in MLB, which puts him solidly in camp average. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/coby-mayo/28312/stats?position=1B%2F3B
  18. Also from his call up in August https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/08/orioles-expected-to-promote-coby-mayo.html
