  1. And look, if there was some body of work that actually supported the idea that guys who have year after year of injury problems just suddenly get healthy and explode their workloads without ever looking back again, then I would be more open to it. But Garrett Crochet would be a literal first here.
  2. His injuries were not just his elbow to where you can blame his entire history on that one thing.
  3. So if he wasn't good enough for pro ball after the one year, how is it that he would have been fine in pro ball the previous year?
  4. His 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons had nothing to do with that.
  5. He has pitched more innings in this one season than he had in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 combined, even including his college innings. The fact that anyone would see it weird to question a guys health history in this circumstance is bizarre. He is the definition of an injury history.
  6. And pretty much every single hitter in the Yankees top 10 too. They have been awful this year. Arias was thought of the next superstar, and has been awful. Pereiera has been really bad with the Yankees. Lombard has been awful in A ball. The only guy who has had a good season is Dominguez and I would be shocked if they let him go.
  7. He's portrayed that way because he has had injuries literally every year of his professional career until now, plus going back to his college career he had injuries then as well.
  8. Even his employers don't feel he is conditioned for a full season as a starter.
  9. He is not conditioned to pitch a full MLB season.
  10. Conditioning and a long injury history are major concerns for Crochet.
  11. For Crochet specifically, I see the risk WAY higher than was on Cease.
  12. Yeah, that's why I gave the "realistic" caveat. Sure we could go get Alonso and Soto in free agency, but are we? Nah.
  13. I would bet the mortgage on a 3rd straight, and give decent odds on a 4th one. I don't see a realistic scenario where 2025 isn't a 100 loss season.
  14. And then crazy amount of pointless roster churning this year, and losing players in the process for nothing is another strike.
  15. I haven't seen anything to tell me that Getz has the stones to wait out a proper deal.
  16. So are teams pushing down college kids while selecting high school kids up higher to cover more of their asks with the recommended slot space?
  17. You say that like its a bad thing. This franchise has been turning in some of the worst minor league seasons in baseball, and low and behold, now that is happening at the major league level. Better Birmingham = Better Chicago.
  18. The Mets could shove their way into a discussion for sure
  19. I wonder if they already missed their window. They might actually be in full collapse.
  20. I am grateful for all of the freetime the 2024 team has given me back by watching them so much less than normal
  21. The pronouncement of his death were premature.
