Jose Abreu Released
Should we talk about his career RC+ of 102 as a 1B? How about his career .727 OPS? He's a mediocre bat and a below average 1B by pretty much any measure. He's also one who is in his arb years.

Going back a bit further, you can also throw Pavin Smith into that pile. I don't see any true 1B success stories over that same time frame being picked this high.

Like I said, in recent years if it had been just Vaughn, you could chalk it up to White Sox being White Sox and hope recent changes would make a difference, but when a guy like Torkelson, who had every bit the offensive hype that Cags has had, ends up being another Andrew Vaughn, it should raise some red flags, especially combined with fears of the baseball being juiced in college this year.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...

Yeah, no. She was going to block a shot, that's it. Its freaking basketball, it happens. All of the same people who five minutes ago were talking about how their freshman team cut selves could beat Clark one on one are now horrified to find out that they play real basketball too, and that sometimes, they even get fouled. Noooooooooooooo. Even the people on the floor knew it was a play on. They went, picked their teammate up and walked away. If the people on the floor were actually concerned, they would have gone after Reese, but they didn't. Even after the game both Clark and Reese said it was nothing. Crap like this is why media gets a bad name, as well as the hangers on looking for a few cheap clicks and some engagement.- Guaranteed Rate
This is the company, and not Sox park. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/06/15/guaranteed-rate-toxic-environment/- How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?
Considering we are very close to halfway through this season and still haven't won 20 games yet, I think you are being overly optimistic. The answer is they know this franchise has the worst talent level from top to bottom in all of MLB, and they are going to have to look to put together something in the future, they aren't doing anything today or tomorrow.- Jose Abreu Released
No one is trading for Andrew Vaughn right now.- Saw a reference to this NY Times/Athletic article posted here last fall...but even if just 25% of what Dave Wilder asserted was true,
Better starting point. Caulfied even commented. I am just curious what is new today.- Saw a reference to this NY Times/Athletic article posted here last fall...but even if just 25% of what Dave Wilder asserted was true,
It got buried into here for some reason.- Regretting the Lost Julks
It's also followed along with him getting less regular time, so no real surprise there either.- Saw a reference to this NY Times/Athletic article posted here last fall...but even if just 25% of what Dave Wilder asserted was true,
I am just trying to understand what you are trying to say here.- 6/16 Sox @ D-backs 3:10PM CT
It is hilarious that this is played some sort of trump card. Ooooooh you really got everyone there. Oh wait, we are still on pace for the most losses in MLB history in the modern era. Nevermind.- 6/16 Sox @ D-backs 3:10PM CT
I was not thrilled to see the jump from AA to MLB with a guy who is going to vitally depend on pinpoint control, but it is what it is now that he is here. (well at least until Getz sends him out) When you have raw kids, you can't be surprised by how varied their bodies of work are from outing to outing.- 2024 - MLB Draft Thread
Yeah, give me the guy that the Sox development history actually profiles to help, and we can sort out the rest later.- How much is a guy like Fedde worth in a trade?
This is a team being outscored by over 2 runs a game last I saw. This isn't just adding a power hitter and hoping some kids do something bad. I also think you are being WAAAAAY over crazy on the manager losing them 10 to 12 games, but then separating out also the pen as if they are separate things.- Saw a reference to this NY Times/Athletic article posted here last fall...but even if just 25% of what Dave Wilder asserted was true,
I am still not following what new is being said comparing this pst to the first one.- Saw a reference to this NY Times/Athletic article posted here last fall...but even if just 25% of what Dave Wilder asserted was true,
Am I missing something here, or is there nothing new here and this is just a rehash of 9 months ago?- Fire Chris Getz
And the worst is yet to come, that's what's wild.- The Light at the End of the Tunnel

This is the dumbest "controversy" ever. Reese is going for the ball and got Clark upside her head. It was nothing. It's a slick small guard move. Instead of going high glass where a shot blocker can get to the ball, you hold it more out and then give it the Gervin flip at the end. Reese just couldn't get to the ball because Clark's head was in the way. It wasn't even a "hard" foul. Only two types of people have a problem with this foul. 1. Someone looking to exploit the race angle, or 2. Someone who has never played any playground or competitive basketball ever in their lives. In the 90s this would have been a play on.- Crochet preparing to be starter
I was waiting to see who would do the insecure I have been mad about this for six months bump of these threads.- Fire Pedro Grifol
lol, yeah right.- 6/16 Sox @ D-backs 3:10PM CT
He has to throw a regular fastball to get guys off of his change up. If guys know it is going to be change, they just don't swing and let it fall out of the zone. - Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
