  1. And we also don't have to crush them by publicly putting it all on one person just in case they do fail. It makes it easier to pivot without burying one dude, and it also reduces the need to have one guy potentially fail a bunch of times before making a move since he has the "title" of closer.
  2. This is what I am hoping for. Especially without literally no closing experience in the pen, hopefully a guy like Wilson, Kopech, or even Leasure steps forward to take it on.
  3. Thanks for the clarification. I had no idea of the split in treatment of funds. That is wild as hell.
  4. Free? Still too expensive to be subjected to the White Sox.
  5. Our optimism or pessimism means nothing here. It's all about the product on the field.
  6. 1. Not the White Sox 2. Not the White Sox 3. Not the White Sox 4. Not the White Sox 5. The White Sox
  7. IIRC Nolan Ryan was the first to do it.
  8. It's a non-guaranteed deal. He was absolutely in his rights to release him and contact him again. It's shitty, but it's legal. Maybe unethical, but absolutely not against the rules.
  9. TBH this worries me more than any of the signings from their winter. This is a lost season, and it really doesn't matter what the active roster looks like outside of rushing kids. But if you get a bad rep, it will hurt you once the team is good.
  10. How bad must the Braves be if they are signing White Sox cast offs... oh wait.
  11. Gaming the roster slotting here is a pretty important deal if you want to keep these guys around.
  12. These guys are all going to be awful. Most of them are just placeholders until the talent eventually gets here.
  13. I read to the end. You changed your argument at the beginning from something about who we didn't claim because of Pillar, which isn't remotely true, and went to something else when you learned MiLB deals aren't guaranteed or rostered. But cool. Grrr.
  14. And this signing didn't stop them from claiming him, because he wasn'ton the roster all winter. But why be accurate?
  15. Nice move of the goalposts.
  16. MiLB free agents on non guaranteed contracts cost nothing until exercised and occupy no roster spot. A team could make 50 deals like this over the winter and it wouldn't matter to the 40 or the payroll. I know you want to be mad, but at least be accurate.
  17. Because it wasn't promised and they could cut him. And they did. And the signed him for less.
  18. He took a payout on a nonguarenteed contract.
