  1. Do you think this is somehow unusual or odd for a company to contest valuations or property tax bills for a company this size? Because, for the record, there are companies with valuations of hundreds of times that market cap which are doing exactly this every single day all over the US.
  2. More specifically, lots of other people's money.
  3. It's really not if you read up on it. About a billion is related to infrastructure. The other is related to the stadium. There are different parts of a project which are covered by different legal entities, funds, and taxing bodies. Some authors like to add the other things into the "stadium" bucket. No matter what happens there the infrastructure and other pieces of the district will be done and funded by tax and private sources. The actual stadium project itself seems to come in at somewhere between a billion and 1.2 billion depending on who is writing it up.
  4. For the first time in decades NE has completely new management. I don't think we can ascribe a trend to a team without a front office or coaching history to base it on. They may well try win now mode. Maybe the go full rebuild. No one really knows.
  5. I have no problem with them taking Caleb #1, I just see his possible outcomes having a MUCH wider variance over how his career could play out versus Harrison. That's why I love trying to figure out how to get both.
  6. For my two cents, while I get why you take Caleb Williams #1, if I had to bet on the guy who would most likely be a HOF out of this class, I take Harrison every single time. He is going to be HUGE.
  7. The city gets to nominate a set amount of the ISFA board, so at the very least he has those votes seemingly under his control.
  8. I wish this was a prop bet, because I would be pounding the under.
  9. I have a big soft spot for TA. His background reminds me of a lot of kids in my hometown who come from disastrous home lives and bring that chaos into adulthood. The guy obviously has some demons and hangers on who want to milk him, and he feels bad cutting those poisonous people off. The ability to live your life in a mode where you aren't registering everything as a threat to your well-being is a thing a lot of people never learn. His reactions to thing on social media remind me of a lot of high school kids I see on a regular basis. I feel for the guy. Most of it is through no fault of his own, though some of it is.
  10. We need a few of these to happen in the next coming years.
  11. Hopefully the kid figures out his stuff and gets back to what was a great start to a career.
  12. If they could figure out to package #9 and Fields to get #3 (Harrison) along with Williams #1, that is the dream.
  13. OK, Sox park has been panned since it opened. Between the angle of the upper deck, it's extraordinary plainness, lack of a skyline view, distance from downtown, and (my personal favorite) the color of the seats, Sox fans hated this place since day 1. It consistently is rated as one one the bottom tier parks in baseball. Granted the remodel fixed some of the problems, but this park has always been looked down on pretty universally. In fact the vocal part of the Sox base has been bemoaning that we didn't do something Camden like until, quite literally, they unveiled a plan to do something Camden like. Weird, right? I definitely won't argue that the Bears managed to go under even Comiskey II's low standards, because they absolutely did, but that doesn't take away from how the base has viewed Sox Park since 1990.
  14. Let's see, we have 115 years of history at 35th and Shields, or that Tray said so. Hmmmm.... Also, I see you are really working hard on not making it personal.
  15. If he is tradeable, they might even be willing to pay up some of that money to get him out and get a return.
  16. If it gets to the option, it gets declined. If Yoan has a good enough season to where his option could be picked up, I think the Sox trade him before the deadline so that they don't have to deal with it, and pick up whatever they can get for him.
  17. Paul DeJong at a higher price than Tim Anderson. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.
  18. Apparently Eric Hosmer retired. No truth to the rumor that it was to get out of signing with the Sox.
  19. When people say worse than last year, I think there is no doubt we have less talent than the start of 2023, but I do think this team is better and significantly deeper than the end of 2023. The last two months were some of the worst baseball I have ever seen. There is a difference between being bad, which I think this team is, and being in a complete free fall, like we saw to end 2023.
  20. So a man who wants no information on his team or activities out there leaked that he is asking for a billion dollars because why?
  21. Why would Jerry leak his own ask to the general public with a figure of a billion dollars?
  22. I wish I could care about the 2024 season even a fraction of the OP.
