  1. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) Eh... it's the beginning of the off season. A guy can dream, can't he? Besides, I'm not saying that he might hit that many home runs, I'm saying that maybe he'll have a breakout year in his own way (defense, good lead off hitter, speed, steals, OBP, clutch hits)... If the guy can catch a baseball, run the bases, hit for an OK average, and bunt people over, he can be the 5th OF on my Sox team as far as I am concerned.
  2. My view of this team is that they don't have enough offense to make it, and they don't play enough defense to make up for that.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 09:37 AM) Religion...bwahahaha. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) My last comment was not intended to mock Christianity. It was a shot at AHB for picking and choosing the passages he wants to live by. lol. I wonder where I would have gotten that idea from...
  4. Keeping healthy won't even get the Bulls into the playoffs.
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) 2010 De Aza = 2008 Quentin??? That would be saaWEET!! He has 22 homers in 1700+ minor league ABs.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) So if we claimed him on waivers, that means we'd lose him to send him to AAA correct? So he's insurance if we can't sign Kotsay, and perhaps then the 5th OF behind Wise, Quentin, Rios, and perhaps Pods if he's resigned. It means he has to stay on the 40 man roster. We could send him to Charlotte at the beginning of the season, assuming he has an option, if we keep him on the 40 man.
  7. I got my new tree planted today. Managed to get about a 10 foot swamp white oak for 75% off. It only cost me $40, and it is about 9 or 10 feet tall.
  8. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) Its good to see everyone acting all grown up. http://thehill.com/homenews/house/63941-de...-committee-room Exclusion. It is the new inclusion.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) Didn't you know a true Christian has a right to pick and choose what they want to literally interpret in the bible? I know you are here to mock and laugh, just like you always do when Christianity comes up, but there is a very important distinction that AHB is totally missing. Man is not to sit in judgment of others. All of us are sinners, whether we want to admit it or not. The bible pretty clearly states that all sins are equal under his eyes, because at the end of the day, they all are about us taking away the decision making power for what is best for our lives away from God. Even if you believe that the bible is telling you homosexuality is wrong, it is not up to you, me, the Catholic Church, or anyone else of this world to deny them God. That is between that person and God. Especially when you factor in the best example of a Christian life we have, and look at type of people that Jesus Christ took into his inner circle, I don't think there is a sin around that should be powerful enough to deny someone who wants to know God that chance. We ALL commit enough sins that applying the same standard of biblbical wrongness to ourselves, not a single person alive should be a priest.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Or this... Maybe we could have more military companies running around, that is a great idea! Its not like the military and health care have anything in common.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Um, sure, OK.
  12. Sounds like a prototypical all speed, no bat CF.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) As long as it's not run by the government. One entity putting the others out of business by selling a product artificially below cost is illegal for any other group in the country to do. It is anti-competitive.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) http://theproducers.weei.com/sports/boston...ple-ever-learn/ I like how there were 250 comments about this girls looks, and not a single one of the people commenting put their picture up.
  15. QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 10:16 AM) The sox should really try hard to get Danks signed up. Probably something like 3 years 17-18 Mil with a 4th year Team option at 10 Mil should do it. They tried last year, he turned us down.
  16. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 12:43 PM) It may be the case that the 1B position is easier to fill with league-average talent than many others, but when you start talking about players who are capable of belting out 40 HR's, walking over 100 times, and posting an OPS near 1.000, those guys don't exactly grow on trees, regardless of position. Gonzalez's numbers have been ascending over the years, and he put up an OPS of .958 last year playing half his games at PetCo with no protection. The thought of a sophomore Gordon Beckham and a healthy CQ hitting around that beast makes me wanna... and I'll just leave it at that. I don't see a deal like this getting done without Gordo.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) With the big 3 due for raises in the off-season, I think this is pretty much the ideal scenario we can hope for, especially considering it'll be unlikely that we'll be able to dump Campbell's contract. The nice thing is that as the Hossa contract ages, it becomes much more tradable if he continues at his historical norms.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) One of my friends current facebook status: "Thank God they found the Balloon Boy! I was afraid Michael Jackson was ordering take-out from Heaven."
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) Starting to look like Health Insurers will lose their anti-trust exemption. Good. Bring on the competition.
  20. Eh, even if Dr House saves him, they still won't make the playoffs.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 09:06 AM) I wont fault the Catholic church for being "intolerance" towards gay clergy. Heck, i fault those who DO tolerate gay clergy. If you claim to be a Christian bible based religion, and you say homosexuality isnt a sin, you arent following the bible. The bible has many things you can interpret, but homosexuality is not one of them. It's pretty clear: Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." Romans 1:26-27 - "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion." 1 Corinthians 6:9 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral... nor homosexual offenders... will inherit the kingdom of God." The problem is too many Christian denominations are not sticking true to the word of God. They are bending to popular culture. The Gospel according to St. Matthew 7 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Mk. 4.24 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) Actually I'd say it was directed at the folks, some who visit these threads, who continue to insist it's all the union's fault and if they'd have gone away we'd have kicked Toyota's arses. Even more than that I blame the people who claim to be in favor of unions and all of the gains they get, and then don't support the companies that have them.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) Well it is still 4 more years after this one, right? A lot can happen in 4 years... Because of the style of NFL contracts, there is no downside to a 7-10 year contract. The longer you can wrap up a guy like Jay Cutler, the better.
  24. Zeal for Song of the South was mostly a sarcastic swing at the dirty past productions of Walt Disney, and how it would never see the light of day again because of changes in life views during subsequent generations.
  25. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 21, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) Worked for FDR in 36 and 40. To be fair the media was a bit more complicit back then.
