  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) yeah yeah war on christians etc...blah blah But seriously you'd think after 200 years Texans would be better at picking their battles. Someone could trip over that and break it. It looks more like a trail marker. That's like saying the World Trade Center is a hole in the ground.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) She was in the backseat of your car when you first hooked up with your wife? I was asleep by "...good-bye..."
  3. QUOTE (WCSox @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) The problem is that Cabrera isn't a "boy." He's a 26-year-old man with a wife and a kid at home. I'm sure that I was at 0.2 once or twice back in my mid-20's, but I wasn't married with a kid, nor did I get into a physical altercation with a woman and end up in the slammer. Cabrera needs to grow the f up. Speaking of Cabrera and "boys" http://www.projo.com/redsox/content/projo-....1ea977ff9.html
  4. Nancy Faust is as much of Chicago White Sox history as any player, coach, manager, or owner every could be. I will miss her dearly. She provided the soundtrack for many of my favorite memories in life.
  5. QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) From 2006-2008 Dye posted a -21 UZR rating or worse in RF. You can argue the validity of UZR as a stat somewhat but when the numbers are that bad for that long, its pretty obvious that the player is a bad defender. Also according to Fangraphs JD played at SS for a third of an inning in 2005. Weird. That was the crazy game in Oakland that included injuries, suspensions and ejections.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) Jared Allen had 4.5 sacks, a safety, forced fumble, and fumble recovery. It doesnt get much better than that, mullet or not. To be fair, that offensive line was pretty offensive. Not that Allen isn't good or something, but I think my 150 pound ass could have had two sacks yesterday.
  7. Holy Crap, Torres as Mario is freaking awesome.
  8. I could really see the Sox trying to bring Big Jim back. I know what Kenny said, but what other left handed run producers out there that fit our budget?
  9. Good god, the Packers offensive line is HORRIBLE. The Bears are going to eat them for lunch.
  10. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) I sort of think things like this can pretty easily get lost if you are talking about a 1.6 million acre land grant. And that could easily mean a loss of 1.6 million acres in the future. Heck how hard is it to envision a scenario where a developer promises to keep something in tact, in return for mining rights, logging rights, a mini-mall etc?
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 07:05 AM) I thought you have said the Cubs couldn't add to their payroll until the ownership issue was settled? Now its all on Hendry? Maybe he just had 50 cents
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 12:45 AM) Cmon Kenny. If he's a big fat slob he won't be effective. He looked good this year. He was not Fat Freddy. If he gets fat he will have a s***ty April and May. He needs to be in decent shape. Guys can pig out in the offseason. You are not at all concerned of him becoming Fat Freddy? Its a million dollars. To you and I that is a lot. In the baseball scheme of things, it is two minor leaguer's salary. It is like buying a lottery ticket for the powerball in terms of how much it cost us. At the end of the day, if he is "Fat Freddy" you cut him, and you don't care.
  13. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) I may be an Illini hater and all but how can you put them over any school that has multiple championships. Duke has 3 titles and still is below Illinois? Doesn't make sense to me. There are three teams in the Big Ten that are behind them don't deserve it.
  14. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) For the longest time I was convinced that all decent vodkas were practically indistinguishable, but a recent side-by-side blind comparison at a spirits store promotion carsed me to revive my opinion. I now consider them to be nearly indistinguishable, if they are consumed straight and side-by-side. In a mixed drink, I'm still not convinced any of the super premium brands are worth shelling out for compared to the acceptable results you can achieve with a mid-grade vodka. Did mythbusters do pretty much exactly that?
  15. Langley is probably working on it too...
  16. The really interesting part is that if things happen to where they have to take down the monument, it will make people think twice about donations like this to the Parks Department. Why would you donate when the possibility that they could come along later and destroy your work? I don't pretend to know the legal aspects of this case, but that hit me pretty quickly.

  18. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) What dooms him isn't his play, but his 2010 salary. He won't be back. But thanks for some awesome years, JD. There is nothing to stop us from declining his option and resigning him for less.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) On the other hand...they're going to have a top 3 of Verlander, Jackson, Porcello, they're still going to have Granderson, and whether or not Cabrera cares he's still going to hit .300+ and hit 30 some home runs and drive in 100 runs. Inge will still be there to kill us, Losing Polonco will probably hurt but then they may also get Zumaya back. Jackson who fell apart down the stretch, and Verlander who is going to be a TJ special the way he is getting ridden.
  20. Good to see that there is a hierarchy even amongst the nerd population.
  21. Even if I knew what that was, I still wonder if that is an insult or not...
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) How so? Are they losing some key player? Their clubhouse might be, but that's Leyland's job. Its actually the guys that are coming back. Ordonez is now an $18 million slap hitter, and your top player seems to completely not give a s***.
  23. Stop, hold up, wait a minute, don't go there cuz I ain't with it.
  24. Does it really bother anyone else that JD went into big tailspins when things got questionable for his status with the Sox? When they were talking about trading him before his extention, he fell apart. The Sox trade for Rios, he falls apart. Is he that weak mentally, or is something there?
