The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) yes i know, the poor conservative victims, your life is hard. My point was this hysterical rhetoric isn't something new. Hey welcome to the club! Neither is demonizing the President by labeling him as everything evil people can think of under the sun. It never did cause a genocide in the nineties when Bill was President, and it didn't cause one in the last decade with Bush as President. It took throwing a curveball, but I am glad finally someone can admit it.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Am i the only one that remembers the 90s? Why bother? Everyone has forgotten about everything bad the Dems did then, so I figured it was OK to forget the GOP sins as well.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) Its one right-wing nut writer, who I am sure who have an audience of right-wing nut followers. I don't think there is any doubt that the far right wing of the GOP pretty much spazzed out during the past year, seeing that it appeared the Dems and moderates were taking over, and that the modern version of conservatism was failing. The result is what we have now - a larger number of idiots than normal, shouting from the rooftops. Those idiots were always there, they just weren't as vocal or exposed. Fortunately, they are still a small minority. These people have always been out there. No one paid attention to them until the Dems figured out that they could demonize them into winning elections.

2016 Olympics
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) Seriously, it's like you guys don't realize Rio is in the discussion. I assure you our corrupt system would be a shining beacon of gov't transparency there. Do you really think they have the heavy hitters that the Daley's have?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) When people talk about the liberal media they are referring to main stream media. I linked to a noted liberal site. I'm suggesting that the MSM will not cover this story. I think there is a big difference between the actions of a right wing nut, and governmentally funded organziation, but maybe that is just me.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) And here lies the difference between the p**** Democratic Party and the GOP. If the roles were reversed anyone associated with Newsmax would be guilty of sedition and treason whereas right now this story will be swept under the rug and we'll keep hearing about ACORN. Damn that liberal media. The funny thing is that you contradicted yourself just by posting links from actual liberal media. The other big difference is that I doubt newsmax is federally funded and had the now President appear before them and tell them that they were going to shape policy in his administration.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) It's pretty old, I had that up in my dorm room in 2002, and I know it was old then. Sometimes I think I married my wife because she looks a lot like a young JD. Interesting...- White Sox Parking- Is my math correct?

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:47 AM) Obviously, there are more than a few opinions about where we're headed. The chief economist at my firm happens to be incredibly bullish. I'm not quite as bullish as he is, but I do think the worst is behind us. Time will tell. Bullish? I am impressed. There aren't too many of those around. People either think stocks will stagnate or go south. Then again, maybe that is the sign to buy.- 2009 Cubs thread
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:47 AM) Don’t you dare call me on my hypocrisy, Southsider2k5! You know how that makes me feel! Eh, its all in good fun.- Fish or Cut Bait - players who are Rule V eligible
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) Also, why on earth would we keep Wes Whisler? His only value is that he's our only lefty above A-Ball, really, Whisler has just been dumped from the 40 man, and no one claimed him. That is the best testimony of his value, really. No one in MLB wanted him on their 40 man roster. There is no point in worrying about someone wanting him for their 25 man.- Disasters Rock the Other Side of the Globe
So Balta are the two quakes related? And are they related to the 9.3 on Boxing Day 04?- Fish or Cut Bait - players who are Rule V eligible

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) White Sox have done it too (Swisher). It's just a natural reaction to cover one's ass, QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) Let’s just agree to disagree, and try not to turn this into another Swisher thread. Now, back to the Cubs sucking. lol.- Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 08:34 AM) Short answer, because they're Democrats. Unlike the modern GOP, there has never really been a singular voice in the party. Which is why I really think if a party is going to split, it isn't going to be the GOP.- 2009 Cubs thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) That's the Cub way, take a guy and trade him at his absolute lowest value, while at the same time demonizing him on the way out the door in order to gain fan support for the move. It's all about PR there, even with the increased payroll and expectations. On a side note, the Rockies walk off, extra inning win officially eliminated the Cubs from playoff contention tonight, so those who really, really hate the Cubs can sleep easy tonight, as it's now been 101 full years and the streak moves into it's second century. Bradley did it to himself.- Zambrano: Sox One of Three Teams He Would Go To
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) Assuming Buehrle's hangover ends next year, you got 4 All-Star caliber pitchers, whom let's assume best case scenario...If Buehrle pitches like he did Pre-Perfection this year, Peavy like he's capable, Danks & Floyd like they did later in the season and you could have 4 Cy Young contenders on your hands. Even with an average scenario, the top four might be the best in the AL.- 2009 Final Attendance figures

In all seriousness, if the Dems really believe that America wants this, why are they afraid to use their political capital on it?- Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Harry Reid has said he'd like to, but that would be vastly more "Politically controversial" than anything else the Dems have proposed. Reid is a little b**** then. Both sides are so in the pockets of health care. That is what that means. - Alphabetical Conversation Thread
