  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 07:36 AM) Carlton Fisk says hello. But I agree on principle, Dye was a fantastic signing, but its time to cut him loose after the season is over. Jermaine Dye with White Sox has a World Series ring and another division title. He has 163 homers and 452 RBI and a top 5 MVP placement, in just under 5 years, while not playing under 138 games (not including this year). Carlton Fisk hit 214 homers and drove in 762 over 13 different seasons, to go with the one playoff appearance and a Top 3 MVP placement. I know that is the common acceptance around here, but Jermaine Dye has just as much claim to that title as Carlton.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) We going to outbid the Yankees and Cubs? Highly doubt that. The Cubs aren't going to have any money. The Yankees are another story.
  3. Even if he is just a 5 or 6 inning pitcher, Peavy would make us a heck of a lot better.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) If he'd said the higher number you'd have complained about that too. Honestly, neither of them is true. I find it disturbing that you all now find it OK for the President to use whatever number he feels like at the time, but don't seem to want to question anything else he is telling you.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) Seriously though what the f***. We've been over this weeks ago. The actual number really isn't important enough to argue about like this, the point is made. Actually it is pretty important. People are running around just making up numbers and using that as the basis for why we should destroy our current health care system. It is the center of the whole damned debate.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) He said something like "30 million uninsured citizens" instead of using the 46M with the more ambiguous "Americans" which includes migrants and aliens (legal and illegal). Where is the lie in this? If you are using different numbers to different audiences, that is pretty telling...
  7. It just makes Obama a liar.
  8. If there is anyone on this planet who could figure out to game the corrupt Olympic Committee, it is the even more corrupt Rich Daley administration. He's the thing I keep coming back to when it comes to Chicago chances to win the bid.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 07:47 AM) LINK I could hardly read that with out gagging on the irony. Yes, the Republicians have some how invented demonizing the President. GMAB.
  10. I was really impressed with the movement that Hudson had on all of his pitches. I can see how he would be hard to square up.
  11. Dye is 20 for his last 106 going back to August 1st, for about .188. Going back to the All-Star break he is 29-160 for .181. I really hope it is an injury problem.
  12. Quit while you are (6.5) behind.
  13. I guess I am the only one who remembers Bush being booed during the state of the union?
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) What in the f*** does this have to do with anything His has to do with people acting like disrespecting the President is something new in the last 7.5 months. It is a left wing load of crap. Talk about a propaganda machine.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) Bush's policies. Not that man. lol, OK.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) Is that the lineup for the next And1 mixtape? They're gonna give up 150 pts a game There is pretty much one guy in that seven that will play any defense.
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) He got respect for authority (ie they shook his hand, greated him, listened respectfully), not respect for his crappy ideas. Obama himself has spent the last two years disrespecting Bush, don't feed me that crap.
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) I dont think Bush was ever yelled at during a speech to congress. Many hated him and thought he did a REAL bad job, but you still respect him. That is complete crap. W got zero respect, even from Congress.
  19. Not a snowball's chance in hell for that.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) No mater what people do in other countries, shouting out during a speech to the join houses is not acceptable on any level.. ever. THat's not how it's done here. You respect the president, even if you disagree with him. The "tradition" is just to not applaud on points you disagree with. that is you "heckle" After the 8 years of W, it is funny to see that in a Democratic thread.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) Figgins is definitely very overrated around these parts. He's a valuable player, but he's not a $30 mill player, and that's what it may take to get him. One hamstring or groin injury, and his value drops. How many guys are there who can play through that?
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) The aldermen voted 49-0 in favor of giving King Daley a blank check funded by the tax payers. Unbelievable. Why would you say that?
  23. There is also globalthermonuclear war potential. Lock up the strip clubs.
  24. Aye this thread has gone into the loo.
  25. Ummm, why did everyone just turn English?
