If Getz can convince ownership to bring in one less crappy bench player/ reliever per year and spend that money on player development, scouting, drafting, and the minors in general, Getz is already a better GM than Hahn. The problem is Getz seems to be perfectly willing to waste money on pointless players as he keeps turning over an awful roster, so I don't have a lot of hope. A perfect example is wasting a one year deal on Shaw. That $1.5 million could have fed minor leaguers, hired scouts, and/or more modern development programming.

Yet they launched Sportsvision when the Sox were about as good as could be.

Honestly I really want to see him pitching Charlotte as a prep for a bandbox in Chicago. If he succeeds there, it is a really good sign. Birmingham is a pitchers park. I want to see hitters who can hit in Birmingham and pitch in Charlotte.

I love no matter what happens in Chicago, Sportsvision is brought up at a negative, even though in 2024 is the exact business model that all teams use.

When you look at the roster and when you squint you can see them competing in a year or two.

Here's the thing, even oft injured superstars bring heavy prices when traded. Even a Gio Stanton who plays defense no where near Robert, and had every bit the injury history brought back an all star and two big prospects, even with his massive long term contract in tow.

If Fedde proves out to be a 4.00 ERA 1.30 WHIP guy in Chicago who pulls down 6ish innings a start, a LOT of teams will be lining up for him.

Everything is relative. Anyone with even a basic understanding of baseball can see what was left in this pitching staff post Cease. The fact that there are useful pieces in this staff is a win.

This is exactly what they should have done. It was obvious he was leaving. Back up the truck and get what you can for him.

This was such an insane trade for two expiring assets.

If we turn Cannon into a 4th/5th starter who takes the ball every 5 days, that is a win.

Considering this is a trash heap rotation/bullpen and that the stats skew comes primarily from a few guys, I have no problem being impressed with what this pitching staff has done as a whole.

Other people, not me. I don't see the point in setting money on fire this winter for anything other than place holders with this team.

Peak Robert is worth hundreds of millions, that's why.
