  3. These stories always suck. The school pays for it, even after they get rid of the problem.

Maybe its a little different, but having a wife as a teacher, she has a bunch of former and current students as servers, not to mention cooks and table cleaners, so we try to keep them happy. As little as those people get paid, we do try to keep that in mind as long as service is reasonable. We go for a standard 20% tip, and go down to 10% or so if things are really bad. My preference also is to contact management for any extreme cases, both good and bad. I very rarely get delivery, because in the end it is cheaper to go get it myself, not to mention much quicker. In the end, we try to be generous with tips and not to think of it as something that is a penalty.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 28, 2008 -> 01:09 AM) Does Chris Rongey post here? I see he is in the group. If he does, I do not know his handle.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 27, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) Probably cuz they are dumb with short attention spans. And they are also probably commies. And Cub fans... they don't like following a quality thing.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) LOL "your ignorant" Seriously, I can't believe you are still whining about this. You wrote something that violated site rules, we edited your title, but didn't close the thread or reprimand you in any way. And yet you are still on this crusade. Give it up. Not to mention "your" (TCQ) going to be suspended if you keep calling people names...
  8. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) In Bailey's AAA playoff start, he pitched 6 innings w/ 2 hits, 1 walk, and 8 K's. A scout there said he was throwing 93-96 in the 6th inning and that he had the best slider he'd seen all season. I think it's fair to say that the groin injury and the sprain he suffered this season were at least contributors to his drop off. That is very interesting. I had no idea that the guy was hurt, especially with something that would prevent him from getting a good push off of the mound.
  9. Isn't there somewhere to find out when a house is in process of foreclosure, but not quite being sold off yet? I think this could have happened in this situation.
  10. QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) ...it was a different time....we didn't know then what we know now... The person below me is personal friends with a celebrity. False (unless yourself counts ) The person below me has met a President or Ex-President.
  11. As we are set up today he would have to bat second, so that we have someone on base for the big boppers. Ideally, he'd be my #3 hitter with runners on base and the big men coming up behind him.
  12. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 11:26 AM) False. Home for the Holidays is a long, long way away. The person below me will see a Blackhawks game next before a Bulls game. True. The person below me was born in Chicago.
  13. Yup, and only the second half
  14. QUOTE (Soxy @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 08:50 AM) So, I don't really know much about the Kennedy conspiracy theories--but what is the thought that Johnson was behind it? Raw ambition? Disagreement with Kennedy's policies? Just wondering. Everything I have ever read about LBJ is that he was a power hungry and dirty SOB. There were questions about how he got elected in some of his prior elections as well. Supposedly he worked with the factions of the CIA who weren't happy about Kennedy backing down against the USSR and Cuba in the missile crisis, and the botching of the Bay of Pigs to have Kennedy murdered. There are also other conspiracy's about the mob being involved, and oilmen paying for the bumpoff.
  15. House was excellent last night, as usual. Great espisode!
  16. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) What couple of million? He made $4.5 million and if he's offered arbitration he'll ask for $5.5 million. That's way too much for a defensive sub with some HR pop. At very worst, we can offer a 20% paycut, to $3.6 million, in which case we would pretty much be a cinch to lose the case. We are most likely looking at around $5 million realistically.
  17. To everyone at Soxtalk, have a happy and safe Thanksgiving whereever you might be!
  18. So to take this in a different direction, did Cincy have any players in the Arizona Fall League, and who were they?
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 09:32 PM) Anybody know what the distance in the air was? Someone earlier in this thread said 90 yards, which sounds about right. He was in the 6th floor, so that works out to 60-65 feet up, plus the distance away that the car was.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) That all sounds pretty good. I may get blasted for this, but, I always felt that FEMA might do well if it and Border Patrol were managed by the military, working along side the National Guard. From a tactical and managerial standpoint it makes way more sense. The other problem is that an agency like this can't possibly be ready for every contingency and disaster accross the nation. Its very existance is a set up for failure.

  22. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) I am a lot less inclined to believe in a conspiracy than I used to be, although my visit to Dealey Plaza a few years ago didn't have much of an effect on my opinion. Stone's JFK movie was interesting entertainment, but from everything I have read and seen, Jim Garrison (the Kevin Costner character)'s particular conspiracy theory has been completely debunked, and even amongst most die-hard conspiracy theorists, Garrison is regarded as somewhat of a nutjob. There are, however, two points made in that movie that are hard for me to ignore: 1) the Warren Commission's "magic bullet" theory (hilariously lampooned in "Seinfeld") is just plain difficult to swallow; and 2) the Zapruder film does seem to show JFK's head snapping "back and to the left," "back and to the left," "back and to the left." To accept Oswald as the lone gunman, one must not only buy into the "magic bullet" theory, but conclude that JFK's "back and to the left" head movement was some type of spasm. I understand that the latter is medically possible, but on film, it certainly does look like the result of a forward hit from the direction of the grassy knoll or triple underpass. On the other hand, that the assasination was some form of "coup" perpetuated by our military inductrial complex, or a "revenge" hit by Castro and/or the mafia seems to require even more of a stretch. The magic bullet theory seems to be more a problem with the Warren Commission having the two men sat in the wrong positions in the car. The Governor was actually sitting further to the inside of the car, which puts the bullet in a perfect line from Oswald to Kennedy to Connelly.
  23. QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Tell that to Albert Pujols.... You mean the same Albert Pujols who has 319 homers in 8 years, right? Its also worth mentioning that his walk rate has gone up 50% since he got to the majors.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) Well, if they're raising ticket prices 11% (think how many extra millions that playoff appearance meant, with all the playoff packages and deposits) at a time when Michigan's unemployment rate is soaring towards Great Depression levels...then KW is going to put a better product on the field than Getz/Betemit/Nix at 2B and Anderson/Owens in CF. Just wait and be patient. I'm very encouraged by the Viciedo signing, and the momentum of Armstrong, Beckham, Danks and Poreda generated in the Arizona Fall League. Viciedo is essentially another Top 10 first round draft pick, so we've really managed to become respectable again with our minor league system in the span of 2 seasons, despite trading away Cunningham/Carter/DLS/Gio/Sweeney. And Kenny Williams himself said it would be possible to rebuild the farm system, without much trouble... And he has gone a long way towards doing so. We are probably back in the middle tier of systems. With another good draft and/or some trades to bring in guys for the system, we are looking at a top 10 system.
  25. QUOTE (Texsox @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) How about "I have faith in you doing your best. We will get through this". Or even a random blink that just happened to be caught at the split second the photo was taken. We have all seen what people can do with cameras.
