  1. I do not care about 2025, or even 2026. These seasons should 100% be about accumulating assets for our next playoff team.
  2. Why not both? But holding on to guys who are leaving in two months doesn't make a lick of sense.
  3. The idea is pretty obviously that if you look at someone like Adrian Houser who has one year of control left, and then the return they got where they got somewhere around 18 years worth of control back from Tampa Bay that gives you more opportunity to capture future players with control. No matter how good, or bad Houser is, he is gone in a year. Either way we have 2 more months with him, and we have to try to resign him in the free agent market. But now we have three other players who might help us in the future, instead of nothing.
  4. I mean obviously that is going to happen (playing the games), but if you are sitting here on August 1st talking about what you think is going to happen in the near future, a projection system isn't a bad thing to cite.
  5. I've said it before, and I will say it again. If you come to Soxtalk needing to hear only your opinion reflected back at you in similar words, you are on the wrong website. This will never be that place.
  6. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6527576/2025/08/01/mlb-trade-deadline-grades-2025/?source=dailyemail&campaign=601983&userId=6062851&source=dailyemail
  7. I agree that if we leave out all of the bad parts, the Sox have been an OK team.
  8. In all seriousness, I would expect the Sox to look at the pitchers and OFs that hit the wire.
  9. Again, get Lenyn Sosa a LF glove and make room for this dude on the IF.
  10. Can I interest any other MLB team in a slightly used Josh Rojas/
  11. There has been talk of Grant Taylor being a reliever for years. The difference? Shane Smith has four months of history at MLB of being a really good starting pitcher. Grant Taylor has never been able to do that at the MiLB level
  12. The Twins did have the #10 farm system at MLB before all of these trades, so it isn't unreasonable to think they would have a big jump.
  13. Shane Smith into the bullpen next year? Maybe at some point in August or September to finish the year and keep innings down, but there has to be a near zero chance of that happening to start next year.
  14. This thought is exactly what prompted my initial "the money will be spent" statement.
  15. It's more like $55-60 million when you fill up the roster.
  16. Between signing Mike Clevinger 3 times, and their penchant for over the hill prospects I can't decide if this is hilarious or making me want to cry.
  17. Let's be honest, if Tampa can't figure Mead out, we probably won't, but at least this is a dude with some upside.
  18. Imagine being one of the biggest revenue teams in baseball and then trotting out the corpse of Bruce Levine how you ALMOST got Adrian Houser. JFC!
  19. Not being one of the worst franchises in baseball is a great place to start for me personally.
  20. Or you can expect they will waste money on 2nd or 3rd tier players and expect kudos for it.
  21. Ah yes, the money will be spent. Playing the greats hits album again
  22. The Plan Getz: Please! Jerry: No Getz: PLEASE Jerry: No Getz Pleeeaaaase Jerry: No Getz: pretty please Jerry: No
