  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) They aren't on the list because they all made the playoffs last year and we won 72 games and finished in 4th place, thus unlike those teams, we have to get A LOT better. How hard is that to understand?? Then why didn't they call the list, winners who won a lot of game last year, and the losers who lost a bunch of games last year and reliving those moments? if being a bad team was the prerequisite for being on the list, how come the rest of the bad teams weren't on the list? It was the winners and losers of the winter meetings, how hard is reading?
  2. I get the feeling the Sox are going to make a run at Alexi Ramirez for way less than either Rowand or Fuk gets.
  3. Kenny Williams is a big fat idiot?

  5. So if missing out on big players was the standard for being the biggest losers at the winter meetings, why weren't Anaheim, the Yankees, the Red Sox, and Cleveland on this list after missing out on Cabrera, Santana, Santana, and Bay respectively?
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) I'm not talking about that. Ozzie is pretty immature himself, and Kenny's quotes made him look like a spoiled brat who didn't get his way so he complained about the media. The same guy who constantly stated earlier he would be after every player who may improve the team, b****es about the media and other teams reporting when he is doing just that, and when he falls short, its their fault, not that he misread the market and really didn't have a shot unless he wanted to drastically overpay. Yeah its not like his boss fired the guy who won his other franchise six world titles or something...
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 01:31 PM) He has to say that. I don't know about you, but anytime I have a product to sell, I like to tell people it is the s***tiest thing out there. I find the honesty helps sell more...
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 02:26 PM) Who is going to check to see if Ozzie and Kenny have grown up yet? Oh I have a feeling that there will plenty of people obsessing about everyone of their moves and non-moves for some reason...
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) You wouldn't. I wouldn't. Ozzie and KW just might. Oz and Kenny will be able to tell pretty quickly in Spring Training if Brian has grown up at all.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 11:22 AM) How many years did it take after Lyle Alzado died because of cancer he claimed came from steroid abuse did these 4 game suspensions start occuring? And they were still how many years ahead of MLB?
  11. The NFL started giving drug suspensions about a decade ago. They were way quicker to do something than MLB, and MLB, between the anti-trust, and the commish's powers to act in the best interest of the game, they have been a complete failure in this aspect. The NFL even had to have this happen during labor negotiations, which MLB didn't.
  12. The Tigers also paid $15 million for Maggs's 2005 season, which was a complete waste. His contract was basically a 4 year $75 million deal when you factor that in. Even at that price, his numbers aren't that far out of line.
  13. The NFL is the wrong sport to reference in this case. They suspend people for off of the field problems They suspend people for drugs and prefomance enhancers They enforce the intergrety of the game by making rules to keep their sport classy MLB wishes it was the NFL, because at least the NFL has integretity.
  14. What a joke. Baseball hasn't learned a damned thing from a near decade of these drug "scandals" splashing accross the newspapers. Bud Selig needs to read some baseball history and look up baseballs first real commish, and see how he solved problems. GROW A PAIR BUD!
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) People with that type of attitude should just follow the Yankees or Red Sox FFS. I was wondering when all of these people though we turned into the Yankees...
  16. Bryan Little was a part of one the most memorable games in my childhood. The Sox were getting no-hit by Dave Steib until the 9th inning. In the bottom of the 9th, trailing 6-0, Rudy Law, Bryan Little, and Harold Baines hit back to back to back homers, followed up by a doubles from Ron Kittle and Carlton Fisk. They did end up losing 6-4, but it was a hell of a way to end a no hitter.
  17. And that is Brian Anderson's biggest fan that has to say he is growing up FINALLY... How sad. This guy may have literally pissed away 10's of millions of dollars because he would rather party, than play. A decent CF now commands eight digits a year in salary, maybe that will be enough incentive for Anderson to wake up and see this as a 24/7 thing, versus just a job.
  18. Interesting... Any idea the dollar amount or years he is looking for?
  19. The 40 man roster was full. We could not draft a player in the major league portion of the draft. period. The rosters were submitted weeks ago.
  20. He'd be a good fit for this team's needs, and it would allow them to spin off Gonzalez to somewhere else, oh like Birmingham for example.
  21. Does he actually play CF, or is that just speculation/wishful thinking?

  23. America: With LDS being a relatively small group in the US, with some bad stereotypes that go with it, could you tell us about your faith? Romney: Well why don't you tell me what you want to hear? I guess I shouldn't have expected anything more from the guy that hasn't had a backbone in his history as a pol.
  24. My opinion on this, for whatever its worth, is that this is a terrible deal. It will literally stall the mortgage market for the next 5 years, and really make it difficult for anyone with middling credit or lower to get a home loan. Part of the appeal of the American economy, and its ability to bounce back quickly from slowdowns is the ability to take a loss against bad debt and move on. As a bank you are only allowed to have a certian percentage of your deposits out in the form of loans. The longer these bad and unprofitable loans sit on the books, the fewer and fewer people will be able to borrow, because they are going to be crowded out of the lending marketplace by these loans that are sitting in pergatory. If you own bank stocks, sell them now. If you want historical references, look into the Japanese real estate crashes of the 1990's and the state owned Chinese businesses. Bad debt hinders economic recovery everytime. This bill is a terrible deal. It will be interesting to see how the next President gets blamed for falling homeownership rates.
  25. Last I heard KC had an offer to Rowand (I have no idea what it was) and Texas was looking for a CF before. Other than that maybe Philly is interested in Rowand still, but it sounded like the price was too high for them. I guess that could always change.
