Jason Bourgeois resigned
I have never seen the guy play, but I have to imagine if the guy was half as good as he is being made out to be, someone would have offered him a shot at their 40 man roster, and a major league spring training invite... No?

Who do you choose on matchups?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) I'm just not going to bother answering. I think I will take this road as well.

Wonderful. More chances for a person to get "Rather'd" in an election cycle.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 07:02 AM) Nope, you misread what I said. I didn't say he was honest. I do say that I don't think his testimony rose to the level of perjury. Oh I got what you said, I just don't agree with it, or its forward looking implications, at all.

Tyrus Thomas: the joke
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 01:44 AM) Our coach has lost Tyrus, thanks Skiles!! Meanwhile, Aldridge, who everyone and their mother knew was a polished post scorer coming out of Texas, is averaging 18 and 7 for Portland. Thanks Pax!! HEY JERRY, YOUR GM'S BOTH SUCK!! DO SOMETHING!! Jerry has brought 7 world titles to Chicago. He has done plenty.

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) The USSMariner puts an interesting spin on this. The Angels gave Hunter the same exact deal Ichiro got 4-5 months ago... and Hunter is no where near the player Ichiro is. Great point. When you put it in that context, I am glad that we didn't get Torii.

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Nov 22, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) They say Matthews LF, Hunter CF, Vlad RF, Anderson DH. That is 2 years in a row that they have severely overpaid for a CFer. Will they regret this decision as they did the Matthews Jr. decision? By the way, for those of you who think they could get out of the Matthews Jr deal because of the HGH situation, think again. They were about to do this last year when it first came out and they were told that they would be in for a long tough fight with the players union if they tried it. There isn't a clause in Matthews' contract about HGH or performance enhancing drugs. I guess they could work Vlad into DH some too to save his back and knees a bit over the course of a season. Also I don't think they can do anything to Mathrews now with tha contract because they have known about that stuff for a year now, and they haven't done anything about it.

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
Wow. If I had done a top 10 list of places Hunter could land, Anaheim wouldn't have been on it. At $18 mil a year, they can have him. I wonder if they would be interested in a deal dumping Mathews while picking up about half of his salary? Other than that, I don't get where he will play???

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
The thing that sucks is that because Masset, Aardsma, Sisco, McDougal and company were all complete failures last year pretty much forced us into this signing. Its fair by the market standards right now, but it isn't my favorite thing.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
So living in a country doesn't qualify you to understand foreign policy, but being the wife of the President who won't disclose her records, does qualify as experience? Please. If anything I side with Barrack on this one, as living in another country really helps you understand the culture better, which goes a long way towards shaping policy towards countries and regions. http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/pos...DYzOTYwMzgwZjY=

Tyrus Thomas: the joke
Granted it is a Sam Smith article, but the bolded quotes from Scott Skiles say it all. It sounds like me calling him lazy was being kind versus what Skiles said. This was just brutal. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 07:34 AM) States rights doesn't mean the states get free reign to do whatever the hell they want. protection of this country and border enforcement are responsibilities of the federal government, and sancuary cities subvert that process. I do not see how that takes away from his general states rights positions. If that's the worst you got, give it up. The biggest reasons for the federal government was to ensure free trade across state lines and for the safety and protection of the countries borders. Santuary cities fall directly under the guidelines of securing the country.

For GOP only
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) Well like I said, I don't know that what Clinton did under oath easily fits the definition of perjury. He may have dry humped that line, but I don't know that he crossed it.... I just don't think that what he did rose to the level of perjury, and I don't think that what he did would have gotten him convicted in a regular court either. And there you go right down the slippery slope. Its not really lying, so Bush gets away with it too. Its politics. If we don't have standards for our Presidents, we don't have standards as a country. He lied under oath, and half of the country make excuses for him, while the other half wants his head. The sad thing was that wasn't even the worst thing he did, but that is a discussion for a different day I guess.

John McDonough in as Blackhawks President
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) I would agree he doesn't need to be a hockey expert and I would agree there are tremendous similarities marketing a sports team, no matter what sport it is. Rocky seems to want them all to work hand in hand anyways, plus John is a bright guy so I'm sure he'll pick up hockey knowledge as he goes along, if he doesn't know something about the sport already. It didn't seem like he did in the press conference. As long as he trusts the hockey people everything should be just fine. And you don't have to be an industry guy to surround and trust guys who know the sport.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) I have to agree with you. I LIKE what I hear. It just isn't presented like a Baptist preacher at a revival, so it doesn't sound right. He actually answers questions! Actually I really respect the guy for actually admitting that all of the answers to all of the issues. I like the fact that he is willing to leave certian things to states rights, dispite the possibility of them going against his personal beliefs. I respect that a lot. I have yet to hear anyone else take positions like that.

John McDonough in as Blackhawks President
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) He doesn't really need to know hockey to be a good President. He will hire people he trusts to give him the correct information, and I'm sure will keep DT around, I doubt he'll have much input over the on-ice product other than trusting those he puts into place. We're going to see a much bigger focus on marketing, and as you said he'll be most helpful in the Chicago aspect of the Chicago Blackhawks... Jim DeMaria and Tony Ommen can focus on the hockey aspect (and I'm sure those who he brings in)... Where this franchise is today... such a stark contrast from two seasons ago. Are you kidding me? This is a stark contrast from two MONTHS ago. I wouldn't believe it, if I didn't see it with my own two eyes.
