I think it was him or Trea Turner that caused the rule change. It used to be that you could use the PTBNL to sneak a draftee into a deadline trade. This changed that. A draftee can't be involved in a trade until after the World Series.

A deal that makes sense for the Rays would included young talent a long way from the 40 man roster. Guys who were just drafted or pretty young in LA signings would be perfect.

I think it is more the deadline to add players to the 40 man roster that Tampa is worried about.

Keep in mind these would have to be non-40 man roster moves from the Sox side, and who fits into that bucket while still having some value.

That's the thing, going into both 2021 and 2022 the same core was looked at as somewhere around a 90 win team. In 21they did win 93 with essentially the same basic core. Unless the Monstars stole all of their powers, it is in there somewhere.

Every time the White Sox bring in someone from outside of the organization, the better I feel about this off season.

This is the funny part. A certain segment of fans is still upset with stuff from 40 years ago, but in this case Jerry was way ahead of the curve. He was 110% right in this case. Paid TV was the future and it led to an explosion in baseball revenue.
