  1. If Kenny really is leaving as soon as after this season, we shoudl be on the phone right now looking to work this guy into our system somewhere high.
  2. I will say this much about Gio. Almost all of his drop off last year traces back to his defense. His FIP alone is almost a run lower than his actual ERA. Much of the run up in H/9 is also related to the defense. Teams aren't stupid, and can see these numbers in front of them, probably in a much more detailed format than the generic stats which are out there. He is a guy who gives you 30 starts a season, and works into the 7th inning pretty much every 5 days. Those guys are hard to find, and can save a pen. Lucas Giolito has a lot more value than people are giving him.
  3. More like there is no sense wasting my time. But yes, rest your case. Please.
  4. No you are right. None of the Sox are worth anything. Doomed to fail. No point in even talking about 2023.
  5. Oh right I forgot. The Sox can't go any direction but down. My bad.
  6. You get something back for him, hopefully something that fills other holes.
  7. I will be honest, while I think Gio could have a nice bounce back year, dealing him isn't the worst idea since he isn't sticking around.
  8. I am not really worried about the other 29 teams, though it will still be a bad deal for a very long time.
  9. I would feel like this would be the ideal spot for him.
  10. Sox fans don't have the patience for getting contract output in the front end of a deal, nor the organizational willingness to spend over those bad contracts.
  11. Either way, it will be an instantly bad deal the day it is signed.
  12. Let me just say this outloud. Whoever pays Judge $300 million is going to regret it. This is a guy who has had a lot of problems staying healthy, and is probably a DH for a large portion of his deal.
  13. This. It isn't some grand conspiracy or laziness or something. The guy doesn't have the base that all of these other guys have had.
  14. It is patently absurd. With any discipline at all, this is multi-generational wealth.
  15. That's just a really odd way of putting, almost as if giving it the even worse case scenario without context of other teams having free agents to replace as well. Take a team like the Dodgers who are losing around 20 WAR to FA without any turned down options and non-tenders. Apparently the Dodgers need 20 wins of improvement by this scale? Or the Yankees are in the same boat chasing about 20 WAR in free agents. They need 20 wins of improvment? Well, I am sure there is an alternate rationale to explain everyone else except the Sox away.
  16. The Sox need 100 wins to compete next year?
  17. This. You could instantly invest like $500 million of it, and still live off of the returns, even after blowing the last $100 million on absolute nonsense or something.
  18. Apparently I should just let you debate yourself.
  19. The crazy thing is after payout and taxes I think is is like 700 million.
