  1. Sell the players on the other teams.
  2. The difference being a decent ballpark attracts people in many places even when the team isn't good, which is really important with a fan base that doesn't show up when things aren't ideal.
  3. Honestly the best place in the US to start another team would be the NY/NJ market. Even if you divided it up by 3 or even 4 teams it would still be bigger than pretty much any other team market.
  4. Look, if you haven't figured out this is a rebuild, you deserve to pay to watch this team. I can't think of a better punishment.
  5. Great managers aren't going to anything with an awful team. Look at Bill Belichek's record minus Tom Brady.
  6. Then he would literally never talk, and that would upset people. Or he could tell the truth, and that would upset people. This whole franchise is total BS right now. Do you need it said to you every day?
  7. I don't expect him to be truthful. I guess that is the difference between us.
  8. I mean if people want to waste their time being offended by anything this group does this season... sure have at it. But good lord, we all know what is out there in 2024. This team and everything about it are going to be awful. If you feel the need to be offended by that, I don't get it, but sure.
  9. If they aren't giving him a playbook... in the words of Hawk HE GAWN!

And they guys they send out first are the ones coming back last.
  11. ALL of these guys are being overinflated. I think a lot of guys have caught a bad case of Tatis syndrome.
  12. You are a fan of the wrong form of entertainment then.
  13. And one of them has way higher bust potential?
  14. Can I interest you in a slightly used baseball stadium with plenty of parking?
  15. It would have been an interesting move, and one I am sure wasn't too far away. Substitute "right hand starters" for "left hand relievers" and "Thompson" for "Horn", and it is pretty much the same sentiment.
  16. of all things, this one I don't care about. I don't expect a manager to come out and say "these guys suck, see you in 2030."
  17. This is going to be a loooooong season if people are hanging on this dude's every word.
  18. This struck me as selling on a guy who may well have zero value very soon. He is also a guy who has to be approaching Rule 5 territory as well. I will be honest, I have no idea if this guy just needs a change of scenery or is what he is, but I do appreciate them being convicted in their self scouting and moving on from a guy who they don't think they can get anything out of. Sure you hope to get more out of him, but at the same time, is a future reliever better than nothing? Thompson has been awful in his minor league career to this point, and if anyone should know Thompson, it should be Getz. He isn't even a top 30 guy in the MLB.com, Fangraphs, or Keith Law. Law didn't rank him or even mention him. He sneaks in at #27 in BA.
  19. And there is a pretty decent chance that if surgery is set for Friday, this happened long before said claim period.
  20. On a team with a ton of youngsters, a guy who can go out and give you a lot of innings on a regular basis out of the pen is something that is valuable. Not burning out your kids who are your future is a thing.
  21. He is out longer term with a shoulder injury. IIRC he might start throwing again by the end of spring training.
