The South Side of Chicago Board of Tourism
QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 18, 2007 -> 08:08 AM) Not sure that those commercials added ANY fans at all. We've been selling out since WINNING, not since making penis-envy commercials that jab at the Cubs or their Fans. If you are ever going to get those fans over to our park, the time is now. The Sox are winning, and the Cubs fans are horribly bitter. Like it or not, we could use that money in our ballpark. Its nice to be all clean and pure and live in an idealistic world, but it doesn't work like that. Baseball teams are expensive, especially winning ones.

QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 18, 2007 -> 08:06 AM) Referencing the Cubs fans is just as bad to me...again, it reeks of "little brother" syndrome. Why do we care if they have ignorant non-baseball minded fans?! Why bother spending actual money to poke fun at that?! This is the exact kind of thing that makes them laugh at us...we have a World Series trophy in our case and we have to poke fun at their fans now?! That's called penis envy...and for NO reason. There IS a reason. You like that $100 million payroll right? That means we have to get fans in the stands.

The South Side of Chicago Board of Tourism
QUOTE(Y2HH @ May 18, 2007 -> 07:56 AM) I think it's incredibly cheesy. Not to mention, I'm against any advertising campaign that pokes or jabs at the Cubs at all. This is why Cubs fans commonly say Sox fans have penis envy, because a lot of them do. Like defeating the Twins in the bottom of the 9th, and then chanting Cubs Suck down the rampway...WTF is that. Fans who care about the Cubs that much are jackasses, IMO, and they annoy me. Stop thinking or worrying about the Cubs until we play them -- like over the next three days. Commercials like this breed this line of thought. Sox fans worrying about the Cubs when they need to be worrying about the Tigers, Indians and Twins is a tad on the obsessive side, and reeks of "little brother" syndrome. But there is the kicker, it doesn't get the jab in at the Cubs, it gets the jab in at their fans. Its a statement to all of the people who still say stupid s*** like "OMG why would you go to a game in that gang infested ghetto? You could get killed!!1@#" If you are getting a reference to the Cubs, you are missing the point.

"That's So Gay" Ruling
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) "Jew him down" is just a common phrase in today's world. Kids everywhere say it. It means the same thing as "To get him to lower the price." Meanings of some words change over the years and that's whats happened with "Jew"... If you don't like it, get over it. Public opinion is generally protected by the 1st Amendment, and if it's someone's opinion that they should be able to say "Jew him down" then they should be able to. "n***** rig" is just a common phrase in today's world. Kids everywhere say it. It means the same thing as "patch something together." Meanings of some words change over the years and that's whats happened with "n*****"... If you don't like it, get over it. Public opinion is generally protected by the 1st Amendment, and if it's someone's opinion that they should be able to say "n***** rig," then they should be able to. Why was gay substituted for stupid? That answer is why society frowns on these stereotypes. Why was gay substituded for homosexual?

Senators Reach Immigration Bill Compromise
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 17, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) “If (illegal immigrants) follow rules, pay taxes and don’t violate laws, we will let them into our community,” he said. I love oxymorons.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Once again, great pitching, timely hitting, and a nice preformance by the pen. Another two out of three games won, and we still sit perched to attack the leaders.

I really like it. Unstead of the typical "come see baseball because it is the greatest thing ever" type campaign, this gets a subtle jab in at all of the stereotypes about the Sox, plus getting to promote our product.

So back to the WHITE SOX GAME Garland pitches over the leadoff double and we got to the bottom of the 5th leading 4-0

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) Gametracker is wrong 1st and 2nd nobody out, pablo is attempting bunt just did, now 2nd and 3rd 1 out what happened in erstad's at bat was deemed catcher's interference, no at bat. Even better now we just need that flyball from AJ! QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) Even better now we just need that flyball from AJ! They just updated with the catchers interference.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
OK, now a nice fly ball here Pablo... That's all I am asking.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
The Yankees have to be thinking about going to their pen at this point...
-
White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
OK thanks... Garland pitches out of the jam and Sox lead 3-0 after 3.5 innings of play.

White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
What happened? Did someone homer?
-
White Sox vs. Yankees, 5/17/07 (W)
Ugh, that's a way to blow a golden opportunity. Two on and nobody out, and we can't even get a guy to third. Those are things that will haunt you against the offense.
