  1. There were a ton of rumors out there about him being in various trades at the deadline to improve 3B. Enough so that Bruce asked him about it. And not only were they looking to improve the position he played, they were talking about him in trades to do it.
  2. I guess we are going to do the Shaw thing again, but even the "excused absence" thing isn't it. https://www.chicitysports.com/chicago-cubs-matt-shaw-trade-alex-bregman-nico-hoerner
  3. Who even the Cubs have been trying to get rid of since he got there.
  4. Why though? You already have a guy who HAS that, and instead would bet on a dude who has never had it? Mead is 24 and with over 500 MLB PAs and over 1700 MiLB ones. Lenyn is one year older.
  5. Been on this train for a minute now.
  6. He has 5 HRs in about a seasons worth of MLB ABs. Lenyn just put up 22 in almost the same amount of PAs that it took Mead to hit 5. The most he even hit an MiLB season was 15.
  7. There has definitely been a thing internally for him for a while now. They are also putting him out front of a lot of stuff for a dude who isn't in their plans.
  8. And a large portion of it happens if the Sox are there or not, so honestly, it makes more sense to have two teams there to justify the costs for something like 100 nights a year, instead of just the soccer schedule.
  9. I think this gets lost in translation, but states and municipalities throw money at companies all of the time in the name of Economic Growth. Billions upon billions of dollars. Hell companies were lining up to throw $50 billion in tax incentives and infrastructure at a Trillion Dollar company in Amazon. It wouldn't be a weird or abnormal thing for the Bears to negotiate a package like this, even in Illinois or Chicago.
  10. I think that has been a problem for a while in Chicago sports in general. We have a lot of paper rich owners in this city, and not cash flow rich. Especially before the Ricketts bought the Cubs, outside of maybe the Hawks owners, these guys wealth was largely tied up in the fact that they owned teams. Jerry being a real estate guy meaning, again, a dude whose wealth is NOT liquid. The McCaskeys are literally rich because they own the Bears. Unless they sell the team, they don't have billions sitting around to build a stadium, so the offer IS important to them.
  11. And all you need to know is that we just picked up a similar (or better if you believe the hype) off of waivers.
  12. LIke I said before, I have no doubt Indiana will whore itself out in order to try to win this. Really it is up to Illinois to how deep they want to dig.
  13. According to my sources, the Mets have committed more money than their 2026 international signing bonus pool allows. The rumor in the industry is that Wandy Asigen will likely not sign on January 15th and that the Mets will try to reduce his bonus. Here is the list of their signings.
  14. It is amazing we still don't know what happened there.
  15. If you can get a 50/50 split, and agree to a solid revenue definition, they will come out ahead. I don't think either of those will happen though. Most other sports are different through because their primary funding is a national deal, which almost all teams have significant, but very different, local deals.
  16. The off sounded like Petty coming off of a bad start in the majors, and two dudes coming off of TJS.
  17. I can't help but look at the fact the Sox and Luis Robert deals with Cincy seem to have a clear delineation. For a couple of million dollars, they could have let him walk. For $20 million they can have him for a full season. And if the Reds reporting is true, they can trade Robert and pay $10 million to get three pitching prospects with some rust (injuries, poor MLB performance, you know the Getz Special). The question then becomes, are the three pitching prospects worth $10 million to the Sox.
  18. With as many teams as are out there in financial trouble, it would actually be a great way to acquire talent. Why teams and GMS are scared to do it? No idea.
  19. If the Sox (or Dbacks in this case) would have taken on the full deal, the returns would have been much different.
  20. Honestly? The Bregman deal is going to age horribly. They should have just manned up for Tucker after trading valuable assets for him.
  21. This is a great place to end this.
  22. Alpha Don't Tread on Me turns into Beta Obey and Comply so fast, it will make your head spin.
