  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) Here's my thinking on this. The media shows violence in Iraq to push their liberal agenda and undermine Bush. After so many hours of watching violence in the name of Allah, the American public naturally starts to get a jaded view of Islam. Funny how there are unintended side effects for what gets shown on the news...
  2. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) SS2K, The fact people actually believe that the owners and baseball were naive to the use of steriods is what is laughable. If anything ever happened the whole thing comes down like a house of cards, Canseco alleged that GWB knew that the team was using roids back when he owned the Rangers. This is nothing more than selling newspapers, books, and magazines. Don't take my reply the wrong way... I have no doubt EVERYONE knew. To think otherwise is well... bliss.

  4. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) But just Bonds acording to you not Sosa, Mcguire, Giambe, and others. Steroids were legal until just a couple of years ago in baseball. Last I checked throwing a world series and betting on baseball were clear rules. You cannot kick someone out of the league just because you hate him And therein lies the rub. Bonds broke no baseball rule that we know of, unless they have evidence of his cheating since the rule against juicing went into effect. It sucks because I want to see none of the juicers rewarded for cheating, but in essesence it is baseballs fault for being sissies all of those years and not demanding that players not cheat.
  5. QUOTE(samclemens @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) your post makes no sense. since when are baseball players above the law? bonds apologists at this point just come off as deaf blind and dumb. no other way to say it. Great arguement. Sam Clemens would be proud.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) I'll ask this....this thread has absolutely nothing to do with his Red Sox. We're all talking about the trade, and everyone is saying how much they like the trade because either a) Cintron is a very solid utility player or B) the great Baj is gone. Then, redandwhite comes into the thread, and basically rips it to shreds saying how he makes too much money, has a low OPS, how the Marlins would have traded for him, etc. It's funny, but I never thought I would be accused to causing trouble by sticking up for the White Sox. As much as their was whiny b****ing going on between myself, redandwhite, and rock, we still managed to discuss in details various aspects of this trade, etc. Considering that Jason was in the middle of this discussion talking about the trade, I thought things were resolved at the end. And if you go back and read the thread, he never once brought up or mentioned a Red Sox player first, and repeatedly tried to steer the conversation back to this particular deal. I got to see his fandom, Alex Gonzalez, and Manny Ramirez all mentioned off of the top of my head by other people who weren't RnW. Stick up for the White Sox all you want, but what the kid thought of Alex Gonzalez meant nothing to what he thought of the deal. It would be like me following around RockRaines and mentioning Charles Macon and Maurice Clarett as failed OSU Buckeyes everytime he posted about the White Sox. One has nothing to do with the other, and doing so would ruin just about every thread it got posted in. This thread was about the Baj/Cintron deal, and that is exactly what RnW posted about. He didn't like the deal why most everyone did, and instantly someone had to mention the Red Sox, then we got 8 pages of crap with an occasional nugget of good conversation mixed in. Maybe the problems between everyone got resolved at the end, but the point I am making bore mentioning in my opinion as an admin. Just because the kid is a Red Sox fan, doesn't mean every single thread he posts in where he disagrees with somone, they have to mention the Red Sox to validate their arguement. It makes for terrible threads. Maybe now RnW can post without someone mentioning the Red Sox, or WhiteSoxJosh can post without someone mentioning Kyle Orton.
  7. Thanks for pissing away another thread guys. We really needed eight more pages to know that RnW is a [gasp] Red Sox fan. Could you guys try one favor? Could you actually argue the content of his posts instead of pointing out that he is [cliffhanger] a bigger Red Sox fan than White? We get it, now what is the point of stalking every post he makes with that? It gets old.
  8. In order for Munoz to be outrighted, he had to clear waivers right? I am kinda shocked no one took a chance on him.
  9. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) He pitched in the spring opener and that was it. Ozzie must have a big time beef with him. That much was obvious at Soxfest when he ripped him as something like gutless during the Q&A session. I don't remember Oz's exact wording, but it was blunt and that was his point. Munoz never had a chance.
  10. Wow, so if he is outrighted, that means he lost his spot on the 40 man roster too, right?
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) Chicago State is on 95th and King. You pass it on the South Shore just after the 115th/Kensington stop. My mother taught there for about 30 years. Butt ass ugly campus. Interesting history. Originally started in a boxcar. They are doing some big expansion project down there... It looks like they are building a new arena.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Half of Soxtalk loves Baj the other half dislikes him because the other half is so in love with him. Ah yes, the much beloved contrerians.
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Wow! 7 pages in an hour and a half. Either this is the biggest steal in the history of baseball or we are running out of s*** to talk about. c. Soxtalk loves Jeff Bajenaru.
  14. As the assumed President of the Jeff Bajenaru fan club, I hate to see him go. He has been an awesome guy who has done everything asked of him at Soxtalk and more. He did chats, interviews, and answered every question ever asked of him through PMs, email, and even the ones he saw posted. I hate to see the kid go. But that being said, this is an excellent trade for both Jeff and the Sox. It has been obvious that Jeff wasn't what the Sox wanted, and I am estatic to see the kid get his break. He should have a real shot at a bullpen job down there, and we get back in Alex Cintron a kid who could be a starter at 3B, SS, or 2B by his offensive numbers, to give us excellent depth, and a great insurance policy if injuries crop up. Kudos to Kenny, and best of luck to Jeff. The Sox are losing another class act.

  17. A bunch of us had this discussion on the train yesterday... Would Brokeback Mountian have been an oscar nominated movie if it starred a couple of cowboys who looked more like Larry "the Cable Guy" vs the two guys it did star?

  21. Damn I was hoping for the cinderella story from the southside. Oh well, it really goes to show you that CSU has come a long way from when they won a total of 20 games... in 5 years.
  22. With the way the NBA plays defense and the respective levels of competition that they are playing against, I don't see how anyone can say JJ doesn't have 20 point a night potential in the NBA. Hell Hinrich gets brought up, and there isn't a facet of the offensive game that Kirk is better than JJ in. He's a better shooter and penetrator, not to mention JJ can actually hit a clutch shot. If Reddick gets drafted by a team with a solid penetrator at the 1 or 3, or a team that has a center who you can dump the ball into, he could score 20 points a night from the 3 point line alone. I say all of this and I cannot stand Duke. I would much rather see Morrison be the better NBA player simply because of how much I think Duke fans sound like Yankees fans. JJ Reddick will be a very good NBA player.

  25. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 7, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Awesome article. I liked his press conference the best: "How is everybody? How are you doing?" Johjima asked the assembled crowd. "Thank you for coming today. My name is Kenji Johjima, from Sasebo, Japan. I am very happy to sign with Mariners. I like Seattle city and Safeco Field. I love baseball. I want to succeed in the big leagues. Thank you." So he already speaks better English than one Sammy Sosa every did...
