Thome rumor
Jim Thome would be the #1 target for me if I was KW, and could get the Phillies to pick up a good chunk of that contract. Even if Konerko comes back, I would go after Thome for the 3 hole.

Stern fans wondering why "best of" was on today
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) I don't even know what "Bob and Tom" is... They are the morning show for Q95 FM out of Indy. They have been voted morning show of the year many times over their time on the air. They are in syndication around the country, but never could catch on the in Chicago market in the couple of times they tried it. Here is their website, I think they stream their show on line, try giving them a listen. http://www.bobandtom.com/gen3/index.htm

Bears impending QB "controversy"?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) You're not supposed to lose your starting job to an injury. However, what is it now, like 3 injuries in 3 years or something like that for Grossman? This team should stick with what's gotten it to 5-3 until it stops working. Heck it is hard to call a guy with 6 starts in 3 years "the starter".

I absolutely hate the feel of a brandnew baseball cap. It doesn't fit right, and it makes me look like a bandwagon fan, especially now. But I had to have the Sox hat with the World Series patch on it. Damn I can't wait for softball season so that I can sweat in it, and break it in.- Pirate Attacks Cruise Ship

Bull has a few things working for him The number one thing is that he is left-handed. Number two is that he has been able to work in every concievable role as a pitcher in the minors and do it well. Number three is that Bull has put up solid numbers at every stop in the minors, barring last year when he was gutting it out and pitching over a major injury. (even then his numbers were OK after returning early from his injury) The final thing in my head is that guys like Bull tend to have their chances align and get a shot. From his numbers and talent, it is obvious to me that he is going to be pitching at AAA, unless he has lagging problems from his injuries. When you are at that level of the minors, and if you get off to a start that catches some peoples eyes, you can get a shot. Once you get a call up, its all up to you from there. I get the feeling he gets a shot. Maybe not with the White Sox, but then again, who knows.- Bears impending QB "controversy"?
Orton is the starter IMO until proven otherwise.- I suspect her time on the "outside" will be short
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) For every person like this one, who is let out too early, there is another person who does their time and genuinely reforms who is kept in too long. There's a reason I dislike mandatory sentencing on all levels: sometimes, a mandatory sentence is too long for a crime committed (i.e. 3 strikes kicking in on a drug possession charge or something like that), and then on the other hand, there's cases like this, where the sentence was clearly mandated to be too short. I'm in favor of giving more power to judges, juries, and parole boards in these matters. Rather than mandating durations, why can't each one be evaluated on a case by case basis? We're already trying and imprisoning people on a case by case basis. Is it? What kind of recivitism rates are we talking about for violent offenders? For Sexual predators? For child abusers? Isn't 120 offense enough to know that this woman probably isn't going to be able to handle freedom? If not, how many times does it take?- How do you wash a jersey?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) That $250 billion had to go somewhere (read: Halliburton, Exxon Mobile, etc.) to generate economic growth, come on! But forget the fact that 3,000 died in one day here. Oh wait, they're not connected. Nevermind. Not to mention the people that had been killed in between the first and the second gulf wars, or were still going to be tortured and killed, or would have been victims of Saddams next war.- Iguchi finishes 4th in AL ROY voting

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) It is.. we have them also and have no problems. Also.. I got 2 new phones within 3 months so if you do a little complaining they will likely hook you up with just a $20 activation fee. We STARTED complaining the second day we had the phones. At first they told us that we had to complain to the store we bought the phones at. Then after the first month the store told us that we had to call the company and complain. Then after we started calling the company they told us because it was after the first month they couldn't do anything for us. They could sell us new phones for full price, or we could buy out of our contract for the full price of $150 a phone. We called them every couple of weeks to every month for almost a year, before they FINALLY offered to send us different phones a month before our contract was up, only if we would renew our contract for not one, but two years. Finally after a particularly long argueing session making it up three layers of management they offered to let us out of our contract for no charge. We took down the name of the person who told us that. At first she refused to give us anything more than her first name. She wouldn't give us her email address or a direct line to get ahold of her. Finally she gave us a last name after much more arguing. Of course when we got our finally bill, there were $300 in charges plus taxes in addition to our last months bill. So we called them back and the name that she gave us didn't exsist, and she hadn't noted our account for anything at all, except for the disconnection. And she didn't even note that she had ordered it. After a bunch of research and arguing the guy finally found her email address noted to something in our account. The guy even accidentally admitted that they don't always give their real names. After that the guy who was helping us had the gall to ask if we wanted to pay the final bill over the phone. We told him we wouldn't pay a dime until their was a new bill in our hands that had the correct totals for everything. It took them three days of phone calls to "find" the mystery woman, and it took another two weeks to get a corrected bill. I can't tell you how many hours we wasted trying to get ANYTHING done with them, and I will make sure I tell everyone I can my stories just to make sure no one ever makes the mistake of getting them for service.- buy a cellphone off ebay
QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) I've never had a problem with them. We had problems from day one, and they lied to us every step of the way. Even up to the end they were trying to scam us.- What Do You Expect?

Signing up with Cingular was you first mistake. Call them daily and b**** about every single thing that goes wrong and try to get out of your contract. They are basically a criminal organization as far as I am concerned. Their customer service personel use fake names, so that when they tell you they are going to do something, you can find them to prove it. Don't EVER sign up with Cingular wireless.- Powell Aide says torture orders came from Cheney
NO big suprise here if this is true. Low level military people don't just do things willy nilly. They follow orders, as they are trained from day one. You might have a rouge person or two, but when it becomes a pattern, there is a reason for that. As I said after Abu Grahib, someone told them to do this, and that person has to be found.- Neighbor saves starving infant.
