    Interesting to see Greeny looking at interest rates instead of cutting the budget deficit to address the current account deficit.

  9. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) My Grandma was hell on wheels. No doubt her advice for avoiding a fight would have been to land the first punch and make count. ^^^ Mine too.
  10. MEAT IS MURDER!!!! Packing up the baby and going to the in-laws. In otherwords, the usual.
  11. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) so soxtalk can't have any more fun topics anymore? every single god damn thread has to turn into a political/religous/other BS argument? GMAFB Its the new hip edgy spicier SLaP... Don't leave a thread without starting an arguement.

  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) You can go back to last season and dig out the same articles from a year ago that said the Sox payroll was going to be I know what's being reported in the paper, but I've also followed this organization too closely, for too long, to take everything that's printed in those papers at face value without filtering them through my own patented Bulls*** Detector© and drawing my own conclusions. Spot on. There were how many articles last year claiming that the Sox were barely going to be over the 2004 payroll of $63 million, and that was with a flat attendance to base it off of. Then we get to Spring Training and we have all of the sudden found $10 million somewhere. KW doesn't advertise his budget, and these guys are just stabbing in the dark if they think they can guess it. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) That quote fails to take into consideration that JR has consistently put profits into payroll for the next season, regardless of how much it jumped the previous year or two. Spot on again. The White Sox payroll budget ALWAYS follows profits from the prior year. Some people want to argue with me on this, but you can go clear back to the 90's on this, and find it true year after year. If revenues tighten, payroll drops. If revenues increase, payroll rises. The White Sox are run as a zero sum team. They might as well be a not for profit organization, because that is exactly how they are run. Every single stinking year profits turn into payroll increases. The ONLY way the Sox don't hit a big payroll number is if Kenny can't find guys that he likes to fit into Ozzie's system, who happen to have big paychecks. Also factor in JRs history. For almost 10 years the Bulls had the highest payroll in the NBA and were a perenial title contender. He kept the core of that team together until Jerry Krause convinced him to do otherwise. Personally I think even if Paul Konerko isn't on this team in 2005, there will be another big named player who is. There is just too much history to think otherwise.

  17. Ooh, ooh that means this is my turn to post links from unbelievably biased blogs, make fun of your intelligence, and then cry when things don't go my way, right? :crying Ok your turn.
  18. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Point well taken, however, he didn't "go nuts" until he was provoked to do so. If by "go nuts" you mean send threatening messages and emails to people, then yes you are right. Sorry we take threats of bodily harm seriously here.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Greasy's not at the wedding??? I'm shocked. He's the flower-boy Congrats Frank
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) I have watched the Boy Scout youth protection training dozens of times and am one of the trainers. Possible scenarios include giving the kid alcohol or drugs, then telling the kid he's going to get into trouble unless he consents. Showing the kid attention, offering to buy him things. Gradually shutting the kid off from everything else, then threatening to abondon the kid unless he consents. All sorts of scenarios that sick people do to kids. Baseball tickets...
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) I saw this story last night. It's a great story. Hillsdale, MI. I remember that god-forsaken place. Wasn't that where the blizzard cross country race was? Or was that Adrian? It was somewhere in Michigan. Then it makes sense that an 18 year old could lead them
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) I agree that Mercy is getting piled on here. There is one way to prevent that... don't act like you are better than everyone else.

  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Relative to the other side of town.. the Sox are a bargin with their pricing. Also, they are one of the last in all of MLB who does staggard pricing. I know it sucks for those strapped for cash, but if we want top talent, we're going to have to contribute to it in this way. And if we keep winning.. it will only get worse. and if we want a huge payroll, it HAS to be this way. It sucks for people like me who are on a really tight budget, but if you want to do the crime, you have to do the time.
  25. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Don’t you think you’re over-reacting to a light-hearted observation? And putting my hyperbole aside (if you can), are you saying you disagree with the gist of my response? Be honest, now. I was just pointing out the obvious, just to be consistant.
