Sox Sign Jeremy Giambi
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) From Doug Padilla of the Sun-Times: Even though MLB wants to pretend they had a blind eye and didn't know that steroids were as prevelent as they are, here is proof to the contrary. Giambi had no ties to the Sox, yet KW got assurances from Tellum before signing Giambi. So, it is very easy to come to the conclusion that Jeremy Giambi's steroid use was well known throughout baseball. If it wasn't, why would KW ask about them? Yeah, at very least there are guilt by associations going on here. I like the fact that Tellum stuck up for the guy. There might not be a better agent-owner relationship on the Sox than what Tellum has with this team. Hopefully that means something good. It also makes sense why the Sox are giving this guy a chance. This is a favor to Tellum, no doubt.

The Official Pablo Ozuna Bandwagon!
Pablo has looked solid this year, and I will be really interested to see if he can carry it over to when they start seeing more major league pitchers as camp wears on. Regardless, he looks like a fine 25th man.

Lofty Expectations
QUOTE(munchman33 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Well, based on the fact that Contreras has never had a losing season, I'd say your pessimism is more trolling than anything. DBAH0 trolling? Now I have heard everything.

Around The Majors
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 07:45 AM) Interesting Hardball Times Article here about which players they think will improve on last season and who will go the other way. They think Buerhle's ERA will increase from 3.89 to 4.41. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...es-could-speak/ People have been predicting the downfall of Buerhle for years. Basically his only downfall has been pitching half of his games in the worst pitchers park in the AL. All you have to do is look at his road splits to know that.

Israel draws up plans to strike Iran Nuke Plant
QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) And Israel will do it, too. The precedent was set with Iraq back in, IIRC, the early '80s. And isn't Israel still technically "at war" with Iran? I think they are technically still at war with the entire middle east.

Wow, that's fast
That's incredible. Michael Johnson was a freak of nature. The two hundred he ran at the 1996 olympics is something I will never forget. Both of his 100 splits would have been world records.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) El Duque looks really good. Hitting his spots. He looks ALOT better after his first inning of work. His fastball seems like it is just under 90, along with sharp break and movement on his offspeed stuff. On a side note, Jeff Francsis has looked solid, but not all world like he has been advertised. He has pitched from behind a decent amount, and guys have been getting good swings on him.

Rockies @ White Sox Game Thread
Nice throw on an SB by Widger, but Ozuna dropped the ball. Helton flies out to the track to Dye to end the inning. 1-0 Sox after 2 1/2 innings of play.
