Thanks for your help........
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) Sorry, but if we have major disaster I don't want to see armed Chinese military walking down our streets. Probably not a worry. The Chinese have barely lifted a finger to help this region of the world after this tragedy. They are the largest and nearest major industrial country to this disaster, but they have sent zero heavy machinary to help out these people. There monitary contribution was lacking as well, and there has been about no public aid from China. If they won't help their neighbors, I doubt they would help us.

Ben Davis to the Dodgers?
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Donald Lucy in Great Falls White Sox ®. He is years away from the big leagues though. Either that or the Hernandez kid. But he is way down the minor league ladder as well.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Trying to figure out the train stuff now. For any of you that might know.... i guess the 'rock island' metra line goes to the lasalle st. station....? how far is that from the hotel? any help really appreciated. Here's a map. It is probably about a mile and a half from the Metra station to the Hyatt. As cold as it is going to be, I would cab it. Train and cab would still be much cheaper than paying to park for the weekend.

28% deferred
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) It wasn't good enough for Maggs because Boras always want to get his clients on the free agent market. Once he switched to Boras, there was no way in the Sox had a shot at signing him. Deferred money was just the excuse they used. Even thought a few different sources have said their last 3 offers didn't include any different money.

ESPNHL
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Why doesn't it add something to basketball? Basketball was a joke in the 70s with the fights and after Rudy T almost died, they cleaned up their act, then their imagine, and soon were a major sport with major revenues. Football is physical but doesn't need fighting to fill the stadiums. Rudy T was sucker punched at the worst possible angle. Hockey fights don't usually start like that, and neither do basketballs. 95% of hockey fights are cleverly coriagraphed dances done at specific times to elicit a teams specific response. Both players agree to fight, otherwise an institgator penalty is given, which puts that team at huge disadvantage, so if the other player doesn't want to tangle, the great majority of the time they don't. You are making hockey fights sound like some wild west thing with no rules and no etiquette, and its not anything like that. Heck fighting in hockey is safer than boxing is, yet people pay $50 to see it on pay per view, and no one is calling for a ban on it, dispite people being killed and braindamaged from it.

MLB to announce new steroid plan on Thursday
Its a good start, but I would still like to see them get close to Olympic or NFL style punishments. Right now they are looking at giving players the same punishment for using a corked bat, as using steroids. And I don't think those two, while both cheating, are even in the same ballpark.

Bulls vs Sixers
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Damn you SS2k5!!! ::shakes fist:: Damn I flipped on the game late, and thought it was Philly up by 30, then I looked again and realized it was the Bulls up 30 I can't believe they destroyed Philly that way. First 30 point win for the Bulls since 1998.

Chicago based Amtrak hits truck-sized boulder
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) The thing about Amtrak that bothers me... It could be a half hour train ride or a cross country trip, but every train I get on always has a bunch of Amish looking people on it. I mean it's like they have nothing better to do then take the train (although come to think of it I guess they don't.) Do yourself a favor and read up on the Amish

Bulls vs Sixers
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) The spread is Bulls by 1.5. But ESPN preview said Gordon is questionable with a back injury. Should I put money on this game? Personally I wouldn't. Davis is coming back off of injury, Gordon might not be 100%, they have no one to guard Iverson, and their victories have been kinda scary against teams they should blow out. That is just MHO through.

Rumors thread
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 12, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) 6.5 mil/year? What an insult. It probably scales up. Because he isn't in his FA years yet the front end will be low, and the end will be really high. Probably something like 3 mil, 6 mil, 10 mil for the next 3 years. MBs contract is very similar to that.
