Jared Weaver
That's hilarious. I hope the guy flops and signs for near nothing. I don't know where college and HS players get off thinking they should make that much money and get a ML contract.

Sox fans raise $110,000 for charity this weekend
QUOTE(toasty @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) ... you assume that the wristbands were made for free! They did say all prodedes go to charity. So the Sox could have taken the hit on making them, and just wrote it off.

Ed Farmer
QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) That's really my beef with the White Sox booth. So... much... dead... air... I have the opposite problem with the TV booth. Not enough dead air. I don't really care how many golf balls you lost to a former player etc. That't the beauty of TV, sometimes you can let the game do the talking.

Hey Mario!!!
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Hey ss2k5, were u waiting in line to get Pierzynski and Podsednik's autograph on Sunday? And did you also ask KW a question about Sweeney and Anderson? I thought it might have been you, but I couldn't remember cuz the last time I saw you was at the tailgate against the Bo-Sox. CWSOX45 I did get Pyrz/Pod on Sunday. My question at Sunday's Q&A was for KW to give us a surprise guy out of the minors who would make a big splash this year.

No names on Cubs home jerseys
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) But the striped clown pants have GOT to go. Yikes. Why? It fits the way they have played this year for sure

Anyone else win a chance to buy cubs/sox tickets?
I can go this weekend if you need someone to go for you... You could try calling the team and see what they say. Or email Brooks directly.

Hey Mario!!!
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) He did leave early though. Had a family thing to do Sunday. He was next to Mikster and Ozzie most of the night. Ah, I read as he was referring to the youngins in our midst.

Hey Mario!!!
QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) I probably saw him a couple of times but just didn't realize who he was. It sucks because I've talked to him since the days of the ESPN message board. That was back before anyone knew about WSI and Soxtalk hadn't even been thought of yet. Was he one of the guys that had to leave the bar? Nope, he is old enough. He was the shorter guy with glasses that was almost straight across from you guys. Saturday he was right next to Oz Jr. while he was over there.

Name to watch - minor league invite
Interesting name, but I would imagine most of the NRI's are going to be IFers unless the Sox make another move. There are zero pitching spots up for grabs with the Sox, unless someone gets hurt.

Pablo Ozuna?
QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) I presume they signed this guy to a minor league deal then? Hadn't heard anything about it. Minor League Free Agent is what they indicated.

Ed Farmer
QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) Mr. Baseball Pants would be the best nick name ever. Don't give it to that pud, its too pleasant a nick. I think if Ed Farmer was a Native American, he'd be called "Bores to Tears" No that title would go to Ken Harrelson hands down. If I had to hear how the White Sox tied the Yankees with 242 home runs again, I was going to kick his ass myself. He just kept repeating himself all weekend. I almost wondered if the dude is getting alzheimers or something.

Da Bulls!!
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 07:25 AM) I think the bulls will get in but you're right it would be a major accomplishment for them to win a playoff series, however if they can some how get into the 6 slot they'd have a pretty good shot at winning their first round matchup, a long way to go but just something to look at with that 6th playoff spot. The 6th playoff position is going to be the ideal slot to be in this year.

No names on Cubs home jerseys
I gotta say, as a baseball purist, I love the idea, and I with the Sox would revisit it.

Planning Iran Invasion?
So they are planning ahead just in case they need to attack Iran? Can I just say, duh? You don't think Iran has had thoughts of attacking a much weakened Iraq? And what if Iran does have nuclear capablity soon? Do you honestly think they would hesitiate to use it against their Zionist moral enemies in the US or Israel? I know the article saids that people are pushing for this, but I don't buy it just based on common sense. There is no capability to attack Iran without letting Iraq collapse, and that ain't gonna happen. Plus the author goes out of his way to paste labels on the people he obviously doesn't like, so that kinda tells me his bias is in his eyes, which means the objectivity of the article is about zero. To me it looks like he is taking some obvious facts, and doing a Michael Moore job on them. To me this article ranks up their with the conspiracy theorists who said that Bin Laden was captured and was going to show up before our elections and that the price of oil was going to plunge right before the election, both to assure Bush reelection.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) Here's my sellout game idea: "Ribbie and Rubarb Reunion Night" True story. When Southpaw was introduced at the Openning cermonies, I yelled "We Want Ribbie" at the top of my lungs.
