QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) That's too bad it wasn't that great. Last years seminar was really good. It had Rowand, Wunsch, and Olivo with wives. It ended up being pretty funny. Miguel Olivo's wife was awesome. I remember he talking about going off on people heckling her husband

Ozzie: Lee didn't retaliate, got shipped out
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) All this is old news. Coulda woulda shoulda. It's a new year and message needs to sent to the Twins. Very first pitch to a Twins hitter in 2005 needs to be "chin music". Throw down the damn gauntlet and let's go kick some ass. Its not old news. The point is to make sure it doesn't happen again. The best way to achieve that is to get players who won't allow s*** like that to happen. That's why you get an AJP type player.

Ozzie: Lee didn't retaliate, got shipped out
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) I don't wanna turn this into another debate on the drill Torii subject but, would Carlos going in hard really have sent the same message??? Ozzie shoulda had someone peg him, take the short suspension and send the message to the Twins that we aren't their b**** this year. He could have sent the message. You can go from going in hard, to rolling the SS/2B. Rolling him is what Carlos needed to do. He needed to make hard contact.

Ozzie: Lee didn't retaliate, got shipped out
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) At whitesox.com they said it was later in the same game. Not two weeks after. I was there, Ozzie said it was two innings later, not two weeks.

You have put in the time and have done everything they have asked of you. Hopefully this year you breakout and get some headlines.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) Willie is an idiot. What a stupid thing to say. Its one thing to get pumped and another to be a complete dumbass. After listening to Hawk and Ozzie slam him right in front of his face, I am glad to still see he has some confidence left. They could be crushing this kid, they need to be building him up instead.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) LMAO!! I got several "hey.. nice comments in the Q&A" in the bar from many people I didn't even know. Most wondering what happened to the "real Steff". I have to say.. this fest was the best one of the 9 that I have attended. We met so many nice people. Ditto. That is exactly what Angie and I talked about the whole way home last night. It was a great year, with tons of great stories and friends new and old.

Ozzie: Lee didn't retaliate, got shipped out
That was my first guess at who that was. I could remember the play and was going to try to find play by play from that game to reconstruct it.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Do you think Ross is off the couch yet, or is he in the house with his moronic comment. Every married guy in that room was cringing as Ross was telling the story about how he got together with his wife. Its not that he is sleeping on the couch, she will bring that up at every opportune time for years.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) How so? The differences between Gallas and Boyer are incredible. Gallas and his group did a great job between the lines. They had ideas to bring new things to the park and great promotions. But there were the little things that were missing. Brooks connects with fans instantly. He communicates in a way that makes you feel like you are the most important fan the White Sox have. He loves the fan interactions he has. He also really gets that it is the little things that stick with people, and can make them lifelong fans. And they really are exploring all avenues to get people to the park, and make it easier and more appealing to do so. The ideas they have and the innovations they are talking about are excellent.

Pods or Rowand in CF?
QUOTE(False Alarm @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) aaron also has a stronger arm than pods from what i've heard. gotta factor that into the decision. Aaron's got a B arm for a CF. Everything I have heard is that Pod has a bad arm. That is another good reason for Aaron in CF.

Opening Day Lineup
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) I'd say Carl will spot start in RF and get a day or two per week at DH once Frank returns. Carl is gonna be a valuable guy for the Sox this year. Reports are that he was motivated by embarrassment at how he played last year, and that he's in great shape this year. If his weight is down and his knees are sound, he has pretty good speed for an old guy. He can fill in at 3 spots ( CF, RF and DH ) and I'm sure he can play left if they need him to. Good power and contrary to his Boston experience, a good teammate. Plus he's crazy, and that's a good fit on an Ozzie team.... Carl looked good at Soxfest. I also never realized how funny of a guy he is. Everett made sure to say something to every single person he signed for, and talked to everyone he could in the bar also. He is a really personalbe guy, and it is 100% obvious that all of that stuff that happened in Boston was complete Media/Red Sox character assassination. Carl is one cool dude.

Pods or Rowand in CF?
I am glad Ozzie made it clear that he prefers Aaron. He deserves the chance to keep CF. I never realized that Aaron never played CF until he got the majors. He has made huge strides in his short time up here. Ozzie said he should have gotten the Gold Glove.

Notes: Williams not blaming Mags
And actually after the Sunday Q&A session I went up and said thanks to Kenny for coming back this year after last year. He said he didn't think that last year was that bad. "You all got to say what you needed to say, and I got to say what I needed to. It was good" And then he talked about how these sessions were good, because it was a great source to exchange accurate information.

Hey Mario!!!
Yeah he was there all night Saturday. Real nice guy B)

Notes: Williams not blaming Mags
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Was there more questions for him on Maggs on Sunday..? I think I was the only one that said anything about him on Saturday.. I don't recall anything else said about Maggs after Kenny gave his speech about Magglio. It pretty well closed the door on that topic.

Ed Farmer
Someone needs to give Ed Farmer some fashion tips. A purple shirt, short pants, no socks, and loafers are not appropriate Chicago style
-
Notes: Williams not blaming Mags
Kenny was awesome in his replies on Maggs. He has learned a lot in his 5 years on the job. 5 years ago he would have trashed Maggs. This year he made sure to remind Sox fans of Maggs on the southside.

Sox fest = Love fest!!!!!!!
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) Jeez, Steff must be paying off these staff reporters. She got a lot of run in that article. There will be no living with her after this. After this article??!?!

EX Sox Player might be coming back
A healty Tony G would be the PERFECT 25 man on this roster.

Curry and Chandler
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Thats good news from JR. At least he TRIES to spend money on 1 of his teams. *Sigh* Seriously though, I hope they can resign both. It was keep the team motivated. It's really great that Curry has tepped up his offense and Tyson is turning into a defensive monster! The Bulls attendence is almost as much as the White Sox, and at a much higher price point. If the Sox were netting 90% of capacity for their attendence, their payroll would be much, much higher.

A very amusing thread from another board...

*Official* 2005 Soxfest Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) What question did you ask on saturday. Maybe ill remember who you are. On Saturday I asked about the last roster spots, and what chances do guys like Jeff Baj, Felix Diaz, and Wilson Valdez have for competing for the 23rd, 24th, and 25th spots on the ML roster.
