  1. And if we don't offer him arbitration we can't negotiate with him at all, which means he doesn't matter what his worth is. Plus by making his value so low that we lose him for nothing, that means we don't get any draft picks either. At least by driving his value up, and getting someone to offer him a big contract, we get draft picks, even if we have no intent of resigning him. Bascially what people think is that we are slandering Maggs (intentionally diseminating wrong info) so that we can drive his value so low that we can't resign him, and we can't get draft picks for him. Why the f*** would the Sox do something so stupid? I know the hate for JR and KW runs deep in these parts, but that is ultra-ignorant. With every other big player that has left here, we have done everything to insure that we at least got the draft picks. Now all of the sudden we don't want the franchise superstar OR draft picks? Come on, GMAFB.

  3. For once and for all, they cannot "lowball" Maggs. The minimum contract that Magglio Ordonez can be offered is $11.2 million for one season, IF they offer arbitration. Lowballing him does no good, because they can't pay him anything less than 20% of what he made last year. What is the point? If we don't want to resign him, we need to drive his value up, not down. We need someone to outbid us, not to drive his price under his floor cost to the Sox.

  5. Just a hunch... Ben Davis will be the worst hitter on the team next year.
  6. Once again, another happening for the, WTF is wrong with people, file. http://www.wftv.com/news/3743456/detail.html
  7. Was the first Sox game of the year to go without a game thread. I thought about starting one, but was curious if anyone else would. Oh how the mighty Sox have fallen
  8. Well at least 56% of us are right
  9. Rams Steelers Vikings Giants Falcons Ravens Eagles Titans Chiefs Broncos Colts Seahawks Raiders Cowboys
  10. And like I said, Maggs is the one who can prove KW by either openning up one of his workouts, or releasing his medical records showing improvement. Basically one of two things is going on, Maggs people are lying to KW, or Maggs people are telling Kenny the truth, and KW is lying to us. Like I said in the Kotex-Boy thread, it only makes sense one way.
  11. Happy 32!!!
  12. Carlos Lee = $8 million for 2005 Paul Konerko = $8.75 million for 2005 Get rid of one of these guys, and that $15 mil a year doesn't look that much more expensive. Remember we also are getting rid of Maggs (which is pretty much spent) $5 mil for Valentin, and $6 million for Koch. That is $11 million more dollars which means we could fit Beltran into our budget at $15 mil/yr and still have about $4-$5 mil left over depending on whether CLee or PK got traded. Don't dismiss this as impossible, just yet.
  13. We could either restock the high minors with bigger prospects (ala Cleveland), or we could try to restock our pen and get a starter. Plus getting Beltran to fill in the spot? Damn, that would be almost too good to be true.
  14. Yeah I am glad to see that the Sox learned something from Arnie Munoz, who had the same kind of stratospheric climb through our system in one year, went to fall league, went to winterball and then came into camp with a dead arm. Rest up Brandon, you earned it.
  15. That doesn't surprise me nearly as much after spending that night out to dinner with Darcy and hearing him talk about not wanting to fight his exteammate because he had the flu. But I'll bet that would have been a great time.
  16. Lots of these guys are pretty well financed. Remember Saddam drains Billions (with a B) out of the oil for food and medicince program sponsored by the UN, and Al Qaeda is also working there who has huge money reserves as well. Granted not your joe average guy has money, but the groups sponsoring these guys are loaded.
  17. A draft will not happen until WW3 happens. It is waaaaay to politically unpalatable to get passed into law, there would be people rioting in the streets.
  18. It will be interesting to see their browser. I'll definately try it out.
  19. Guys the two big sinister plots being hatched by Kotex-Boy are mutually exclusice. Once again in his rush to screw over someone and steal headlines, his whole article is based on the impossible. If Kenny Williams wanted rid of Magglio Ordonez so badly, why would he be driving his value down? That is just dumb. If you want to get rid of someone, you increase his value. KW would be talking about how well things are going, how he is recovering, this isn't that big of a deal etc. You try to talk someone into thinking that he is worthy and able for his "Vlad money". By driving down his value all that means that we aren't going to offer him arbitration AND we aren't going to recieve any draft picks thereof. He isn't going to decline arbitration to take a cheap one year deal to stay here, and KW knows it. His agent would be an absolute dumbass to accept it. And if KW was involved in some sinister plot to blacklist Maggs, it would be as easy as Maggs openning up one of his workouts, and/or releasing his medical records SHOWING improvement. At least Maggs's agent has got to realize that is the quickest way to show he is healthy enough to get his big contract, and yet there hasn't been ANY substantive proof of ANYTHING from Maggs side of this, except innuendo and talk. The burden of proof lies firmly on Maggs side. Those inactions right there tell me that KW might be onto something. Heck remember when Maggs came back, the team kept trying to talk Maggs out of it? He wanted to play sooner than he came back. Then when he did come back, he wanted to play the OF when the team didn't think he was ready, and he pretty much insisted on doing it. Then that quick he was back on the DL, done for the year. It is obvious the guy was trying to do whatever it took to get back out there, no matter what was best for him. The question becomes, was he out there for his team, or his next contract? I hate Jay Mariotti and the whirlwind of lies and bulls*** he comes up with. I just wish for once, he would cross the line, and someone would take his ass down for good.
  20. I honestly think it will be both. Elections and terror.
  21. Nevermind, I just saw your answer about where they play
  22. Damn how do I root for him? DE-TROIT SUCKS!!! BTW where in Chicago do they play? If they tickets aren't too bad, I might go check it out.
