  1. They are professional players. That is my arguement. You might as well make someone who gets traded from the AL to the NL eligible as well because in my eyes it is the samething.
  2. I hate the fact that the forgein pros are allowed to be ROY canditates. I love Shingo, but he should not be eligible for this award
  3. I would consider Juan an upgrade over Jose, but I would take a chance on Crede over Uribe at 3B. I really get the feeling we will regret dealing Joe Crede.
  4. Great year Jaime Happy Birthday man
  5. Personally I think less of you after knowing you for 12+ years...

  10. Good to hear Especially since we might never see eye to eye on this one
  11. Don't take any of my points the wrong way. I love Maggs. Geesh I even have a cat named after him. He has been my favorite player on this team, all of the way back to the Robin Ventura days. There is nothing I would want to see more than Maggs to continue on to the HOF. Why Kenny openned his mouth in the first place is beyond me. His media savvy (the huge lack there of) has never been in question. I wonder if it was in response to a direct question or if he offered up the opinion?
  12. Just curious for opinions, with all of the repeated natural disasters in FLA could that state end up having a sort of a Bilandec effect on the national election? [For those who don't know-here is some history Bilandic was Chicago's mayor from 1976-79. He lost the Democratic primary against Jane Byrne, who gained a bit of political revenge by beating the man who had fired her. Byrne's victory over Bilandic also was viewed as a stunning blow to the city's storied Democratic political machine. A native Chicagoan, Bilandic was an alderman who represented the city's Bridgeport neighborhood before succeeding Daley. Daley also was a product of the South Side community, as were his two predecessors. His son, Richard M. Daley, is the current Chicago mayor. Some observers say Bilandic's mayoral fate was sealed by his administration's handling of the Chicago blizzard of January 1979. He took a considerable amount of heat after it was disclosed that he authorized more than $300,000 in consulting fees to a former deputy mayor, including a $90,000 contract for snow removal that faltered after a winter storm smacked the city with 20 inches of snow. Black leaders said a key contributor to anti-Bilandic sentiment came after train stations serving black neighborhoods were temporarily closed during the blizzard. "I believe if it hadn't been for that snowstorm, he would have been re-elected in 1979 and probably gone on to serve a number of terms as mayor of Chicago," said Rep. William Lipinski, who served on the City Council with Bilandic. ] Could the election swing to Kerry because of lack of response, or vice versa to Bush for getting them what they need to recover, or it won't matter-peoples minds are already made up?

  14. Yeah 1918 was a curse of a different color
  15. Those kind of things just amazing me. Like right now there is more computing power in a calculator, than there was in the computer that landed the Apollo on the moon.
  16. After the 1993 falling out, Carlton Fisk will not be a member of this organization as long as JRs group owns this team. PUdge will not work for them.
  17. If those are lies, why doesn't Maggs easily prove them wrong? It would be soooo easy. Once again all he has to do is show his medical records or bring the media into a workout. Instead we have Maggs holed up in Miami, not talking to the media (unless you count Kotex-boy as media) and speaking through his agent. If Maggs is healthy and willing to disprove all of this so called slander, he could do in in a heartbeat. The fact that he doesn't tells me something.
  18. After seeing John Kerry's history and voting record, and his stances on Iraq even during just this election cycle I have no doubt if the polls would have said to invade Iraq, we would have invaded Iraq. The other thing that is really bothering me right now is that the media and the UN are basically ignoring the genocide in Sudan. No one wants to pay attention, and no one wants to do anything about it. Even the word "sanctions" we deemed to harsh by many of the European countries. It disgusts me that these people's lives are so trivial to the UN.
  19. Which Maggs and his agent could easily counter by either releasing his medical records or inviting the press along on one of these workout sessions. Then KW would be caught in a bold face slander if it were true. It is that easy, and all of this would be over.
  20. "We know we can't count on the French. We know we can't count on the Russians. We know that Iraq is a danger to the United States, and we reserve the right to take pre-emptive action whenever we feel it's in our national interest." NOT GWB in 1997 on Crossfire. http://www.washtimes.com/national/inbeltway.htm The truth never hurts. There is nothing in Kerry's past to indicate he would have done anything that differently after 9-11.
  21. And if we don't offer him arbitration we can't negotiate with him at all, which means he doesn't matter what his worth is. Plus by making his value so low that we lose him for nothing, that means we don't get any draft picks either. At least by driving his value up, and getting someone to offer him a big contract, we get draft picks, even if we have no intent of resigning him. Bascially what people think is that we are slandering Maggs (intentionally diseminating wrong info) so that we can drive his value so low that we can't resign him, and we can't get draft picks for him. Why the f*** would the Sox do something so stupid? I know the hate for JR and KW runs deep in these parts, but that is ultra-ignorant. With every other big player that has left here, we have done everything to insure that we at least got the draft picks. Now all of the sudden we don't want the franchise superstar OR draft picks? Come on, GMAFB.
  22. QP Sing it sister!
  23. For once and for all, they cannot "lowball" Maggs. The minimum contract that Magglio Ordonez can be offered is $11.2 million for one season, IF they offer arbitration. Lowballing him does no good, because they can't pay him anything less than 20% of what he made last year. What is the point? If we don't want to resign him, we need to drive his value up, not down. We need someone to outbid us, not to drive his price under his floor cost to the Sox.
