  1. The idea that you have to destroy stuff to be a leader is one of the dumbest things that still remains from the 20th century. It means you can't handle some adversity like a damned adult. Grow up.
  2. Hopefully they give him a cell phone with pre-recorded messages on the other end so he can't do any damage. "Yes Tony, kids these days are awful" "Sorry Tony, I can't go on a beer run with you, its 8:30 am" "I know the unwritten rules of baseball aren't written down for a reason" "We'll look into that"
  3. You know those times where you really, really want to be wrong, but it just won't happen.
  4. Players also make sense as they are probably fed up with the garbage and lack of leadership by the manager in the clubhouse.
  5. Getting a starting goalie plus moving up 15 slots into the first round? Seems like a solid step up to me
  6. It's not hard to stop and look at this last press story as something that is the final straw in the clubhouse with a team that is already having some major problems.
  7. Stone has never known when to shut up. It's what got him out of the Cubs organization.
  8. This I would agree with. He is also arrogant enough to think it would work.
  9. I mean it could have been a campaign to blame the players, but if it was, it was incredibly dumb. Like who wasn't going to make the connection between bad player leadership and a bad manager? If your employees aren't interested in working, why wouldn't you look at their bosses? It seems obvious to me, but I guess Jerry or Tony would be absolute morons with how to deal with fans and media.
  10. With a hard cap in the NHL, you can really do some damage if you have the ability to take on cap room in a deal. I mean the Hawks upgraded a second round pick to a late 1st round pick and took on a starting goalie just by having some room under the cap. And yes, the Hawks have needed to sell for a while, but really did a poor job of it with the initial returns. Hopefully these guys really know how to draft, because the levels of picks weren't good.
  11. I mean all you have to do is go back and listen to Hahn's non-answers as to how he was involved in hiring Tony.
  12. The rarity of a player like this being available overrides all sanity. They will both give up tons for him, and will throw a truckload of money at him.
  13. Having a defensive OF to cover the OF mess of a defense is a good thing. Adam Engel is just fine when healthy, but if not, Billy would be a fit.
  14. It was really, really obvious that the Sox front office had a modern baseball mind in mind when Rick Hahn got up on Zoom and talked about his ideal manager to replace RR. They spent all of those years suffering through shitty baseball after stripping this to the studs and rebuilding. The last thing Rick and Kenny want to see is this ruined by a mismatch of manager and players. Maybe they lost the behind the scenes fight with Jerry, but now they are trying to win the battle of public opinion.
  15. Look, Ozzie was a mediocre manager, but he would be a huge improvement over this mess. So would Ricky or anyone else from the last decade or so.
  16. If this is what playing hard looks like, I would hate to see a lazy and/or stupid team.
  17. And who exactly is responsible for the players? In 40+ years, Jerry couldn't figure this out?
