  1. Because Kimbrel was getting traded no matter what.
  2. Tony LaRussa "You can't be a Sox fan and want another RF!" Rick Hahn "Hold my beer. On second thought..."
  3. With his hometown essentially being a Chicago suburb, this is one of those occasions where an extension might really make sense.
  4. So the Sox just gave him his final ask. Not a bad move, but honestly at this stage, it probably won't move the needle long term, but it also can't hurt. Glad this is done.
  5. As much as I would like to have Sheets around, I think Kenny Williams said it best with "Where is he going to play?" Sure there are still some ABs to be had as a fill in and part time DH, but if he gets us a SP, I am better with that.
  6. Nah, on to the next thing. It's like you don't remember the timeless classics such as "we can't draft and develop a position player" "I would trade everything for one World Series title" "We never have made back to back playoff appearances"
  7. I wouldn't have said it if it was pretty much anyone else, but Tony earned it.
  8. Also, has anyone checked on TLR? Getting a right fielder might drive him to drink.
  9. BUT WHERE IS OUR RESOURCE ALLOCATION?!?!? In all seriousness, at this stage of the offseason, the Kimbrel deal had to fill a hole. Pollock is a great fit, even with his injury history, we have other back up options for when the injuries happen. If nothing else the defensive ability of the OF just went up a TON, along with a legit bat. Would have been better if he was LH, but this works.
  10. The fun part is everyone is basically insisting that the team should have spent even more on the bullpen.
  11. This is where I am at. He is obviously fragile AF, and pushing him early into higher innings, would have just destroyed him earlier, and still put him behind for getting innings. If he is hurt, he never builds innings either. That has been his main problem since we drafted him.
  12. Well this why JR loves Tony, he will give you the company line no matter what it is that moment.
  13. Oh it 100% is racist. The history and the origins of the term, along with how we applied to to entire populations regardless of their actual tribal and political histories to dehumanize, subjugate, and conquer them over our 500ish year European history here in the Americas is unequivocal. There were definitely times of acceptance for these types of terms, but them being accepted doesn't change the history behind them. If we were talking about actual tribal names, we could talk, but this term isn't that.
  14. Sure but then no long-winded rants making up things that might happen to get mad about is possible.
  15. It's a poll question on a message board. If it is too difficult, move along.
  16. Today would have been opening day according to twitter.
  17. When it comes to the Cuban kids especially, I think sometimes we forget that these guys have essentially not played baseball for years, and are also coming into a new situation, language, etc completely different from where they have been before. That first year can be a horrible adjustment period. Maybe it was a bit of trying to hard, or not being in game shape, or being in the wrong place mentally, but it is really nice to hear that he is turning heads, as that makes a big difference at the top of the minors if Cespedes is a legit future option.
