  1. The team made an honest effort at Wheeler and set the market for him. That's fine.
  2. Eh, it wasn't quite the same as ACTUAL free agent top of the market spending, but I will say it did set a record for that time period.
  3. 1. Albert Belle. That's it. That's the list.
  4. In an unrelated story, the Assyrian Church of the East has been Excommunicated.
  5. Wheeler doesn't bother me as badly as the Harper/Machado/TLR troika.
  6. A few months ago you were telling us how he could step in for Vaughn.
  7. Which was my entire original point in saying that guy doesn't seem to exist now.
  8. Call me crazy, but calling a kid who still hasn't drawn a paycheck to play baseball, a future White Sox 1B doesn't seem like a thing that furthers discussion, and is quite literally what turned this into a tete a tete over who can be called a future 1B instead of you crapping on Tim Elko.
  9. There is nothing wrong with drafting guys like Wolkow if you have the pieces in place and you think you can do the dev work on them. The problem comes when someone is trying to call them future starters on a playoff team, just because they are in the system, or even better, when they aren't even drafted yet, and apply them anyway.
  10. Like the need to run into a thread where a seasoned professional doesn't think the White Sox will be good for years and correct everyone who agrees?
  11. Which act is the one where you claim a SS who hasn't been drafted yet, in a draft that hasn't happened yet, in a draft that hasn't been seeded yet, is a name worth mentioning as a future White Sox 1B, but then getting upset because when you called them a future 1B, you apparently forgot that meant they then wouldn't be playing SS, none of this has any basis in reality?
  12. Toronto is about as close to a mirror image of Chicago as exists in this hemisphere. About the same size and history. If they can win, Jerry should be able to.
  13. I do think this is fair. In hindsight it is easy to judge the results, but the guy was the top available player at the position the Sox needed to fix the most. If we had done similar with guys like Machado and/or Bryce Harper, I can't help but draw a new timeline that looks much different.
  14. You know you CAN draft power hitters anywhere in the draft right? Listing guys who aren't drafted, and who were drafted as an all glove, we hope he hits, SS is irrelevant. It's blue sky imagineering.
  15. Jerry isn’t spending real money this winter, or next.
  16. Jerry isn’t spending real money this winter, or next.
  17. Today? All of them. Colson has shown to be an actual fielder. Two aren’t 1Bs, and both are YEARS away, at best. One isn't in the organization. Are you just Caulfielding names now?
  18. I would start with ANY good ones, but hey, who am I right?
  19. I mean if we plan on not sucking this decade it would typically include a real 1B, but this is the Getz era so it may well be the Utility Player of the Month Club.
  20. That description is very apt of the roster management the last few years too.
  21. I don't think they have a long term solution currently in the system, which is pretty crazy TBH.
