  1. That sounds vaguely familiar.
  2. It's like seeing a washed up rock band, whose last hit was pre-disco, at the county fair with their one remaing living member so you can see them play their one hit.
  3. After this I wonder if Getz hit up Mark Buehrle while he was shooting his commercial?
  4. No option for 26? We are going to pay the guy about a million dollars in 2025 for filling innings. If he keeps Clevinger off of the roster, I will count it as a win.
  5. I would be pretty shocked if he was fully OK, and no one else was willing to take a chance on him. Pitching is such a needed commodity by pretty much every team in baseball.
  6. Yeah, unless is is a 1+1 type of deal, there isn't any upside to this deal for the Sox. They can't fix him soon enough to show the rest of the league he is fixed before the deadline. This almost certainly about filling innings in 2025, and nothing else.
  7. I never said I, or anyone else, was innocent, but I am not the one complaining about a lack of decorum or quality discussions either. That's the entire point. Adding to the problem doesn't fix the problem. If you really want the sort of discussions you are asking for, mocking a dude with obvious issues isn't the right path.
  8. This line right here. Stop and think about what this implies. If I think what you are saying is "so ridiculous", I now have permission to derail any actual conversation for name calling. Who decides what that standard is? Who decides when it is acceptable? If I deem something "so ridiculous", or how ever you want to deem it, I now have permission to do EXACTLY what you are upset about, in that you would now be "unwilling to entertain it", as you had previously said, when it comes to an opinion other than your own. You want to know why Soxtalk is here? It is a decent amount of people deeming other people's opinions "so ridiculous" they can then attack them as they see fit, while being "unwilling to entertain it" when it comes to anyone who takes the opposite side of an argument.
  9. My fear is that the cause and effect is backwards, unfortunately. We obviously need more years to confirm or deny, but this has been an alarming uptick in major surgeries with a long history of not really seeing that level of injury.
  10. When one person decides that decorum doesn't apply to them, it applies to no one. THIS is what you are seeing on Soxtalk. You were JUST talking about someone being unwilling to entertain other opinions, and yet here this is. Both sides are so deeply dug in and substituting mocking each other for opinions and discussion, this is why this page is the way that it is. I have been trying to root out the most ridiculous name calling, but it doesn't do much good when any discussion pretty much turns into this type of cesspool. This isn't even to pick ON just you, but you happened to be the guy who brought it up.
  11. Look, there are multiple people literally mocking someone for daring to have an opinion other than what they have, including you and some of others looking for decorum for their opinions. When that tone is set, that is how the discussion will go. You can't then get offended when someone else gives it back.
  12. If they had done that over the winter, we wouldn't be here at a low point.
  13. If you are able to get a prospect that profiles potentially to the top half of a rotation for any of our existing starting pitching other than maybe Shane Smith, you send them off. Any vet that gets an offer should go for sure.
  14. Any of those guys that Getz keeps blocking make sense as trade candidates.
  15. This also. They have already had major injury problems, and are about to hit walls with most of the existing rotation in terms of career high innings outputs. Unless they want more surgeries, being careful now is a really good idea. Throwing someone off of the street to fill those innings is smarter than destroying careers. Look if we are going to go the LAD route of pitching guys until they are hurt, we are going to need a lot more arms anyway. Either way, we don't have enough depth, and never really did with anything but on paper.
  16. I mean let's be honest. They might say they want the Sox to be where players come to revive their careers, but in all honesty, right now it's the place they go when no one else wants them.
  17. Any bloodlines to someone like Oscar?
  18. The crazy thing is over his last 7 days Colson is very Capra-esque .063/.167/.125/.292 Dude came back from AZ on a bender, but maybe he needs to go back again, as it has worn off.
  19. A deal like this might have some potential upside. It is probably too late in the season to fix and flip, but in general, this is a much better route than we have been in terms of neverceiling guys.
  20. You hope this is fatigue for Smith, and not the league starting to figure him out.
  21. That's what I was thinking. I would think it should be pitching, since they seem to do that best, but who knows.
  22. This too. Look, if Getz really knew how bad things were, and just lied to everyone about competing soon, he had to know that Robert was always at least a huge injury risk, and the mere act of running him out to play again was a huge gamble. Taking a bit less at his peak was always better than him being hurt and regression. And if he is so worried about how everyone else feels, he should find another job. He should know better than everyone else. As Stacey said, if you're scared, get a dog.
