Is it time to give TLR his due? And maybe some apologies?

Then he didn't need to be there in the first place. -

So not blowing up Yermin twice in two days, not knowing the rules, not knowing that his pitchers were tired, plus all of the weird things like the Grandal PH that never happened for no good reason, but the flag? Heck that leaves out my favorite off of the field stuff in multiple DUIs that he tried to use his position to get out of, nor decades history of racism, but the flag. lol, no. Again, no. -

The only reason? lol, no. This has been beaten to death here, and supposedly as a new account, I am not quite sure how you would know what everyone here is thinking, but speaking for myself you are not even in the ballpark. The flag stuff is WAY down the list. -

This. Cutting Eaton doesn't impress me, as they were paying him either way. Once I see the team take on salary instead of paying a prospect cost, then you will have my attention. -

Dang he was just getting going.
-
So in other words, he isn't as bad as you have been saying. Well done.

I get it, but your argument is terrible, flawed with distractsions that have nothing to do with the main thrust of my problem of your argument. You are trying to hide the fact that you make the case for Dallas being a terrible pitcher with all of these other things that don't apply to that fact. The other hand waves of who could replace him don't change that. Carlos Rodon being a better pitcher than Dallas doesn't change what Dallas's skill level is, nor does what Kopech, Crochet, or anyone else does. That is a non sequitor. Their ability to pitch has zero effect on the pitching talent of Dallas Kuechel, and his trade value. The ONLY thing that matter for his trade value is how good HE is, and not who we have to replace him. It would also be nice if you went back to the point that I made weeks ago that Dallas's numbers were better than league average, which invalidates most of your points on him, and also makes the case why someone WOULD be interested in trading for him. Either he is good enough to be traded, even with his $18 million salary, or he is as awful as you say he is, and no one will want him. No one is 2021 is looking to add an awful pitcher who has a large contract.
-
We are going to have some combination of Engel, Hamilton, Goodwin, and Leury to use. Maybe they trade for someone, but they do have guys they can mix and match with.
-
One of the rest of the crew of OFs, whoever survives the roster shuffle once Eloy and Luis are back.
-
Going to guess eventually Vaughn.
-
None of these things matter to the qualitative argument you are making to Dallas's ability, and are just distractions to your contradictory underlying argument that somehow someone can be so terrible, yet valuable to the rest of baseball who seemingly can't see his terribleness. If he is good enough to be someone that another team would be $18 million a season for, he isn't nearly as bad as you make him out to be. Even in this post you have now moved the bar to him being "average" instead of all of the other stuff you were sticking to before. Either that or you realize that he can't be awful AND get some interest.

This season is tough to measure versus last for a couple of reasons. #1 and #2 are the teams behind us took major hits this off season. The Indians got significantly worse, as did the Twins, before they ever stepped on to the field. They either dealt, or didn't replace, key players. #3, while the Sox have had key injuries, so have the Twins and Indians on top of their off season losses. While the Sox losses have been position players, Cleveland has lost a ton of pitching, while our has stayed healthy. We obviously don't have the ability to counterfactual, but it would have been interesting to be able to put Ricky into 2021, and Tony into 2020 to see how each handled those situations. #4, it isn't hard to argue that a lot of the success of this season is Rick Hahn and company putting in a big effort in March/April/May to bring key players to the MiLB rosters who were later able to step into key roles (such as Hamilton, Goodwin, Lamb, etc) to keep this team afloat, as well as the MiLB staff changes really paying off in both drafting and development to have kids ready to also step into key roles at key times. #5 starting pitching is better so far, but again a question mark with the substances changes, while the bullpen is definitely worse, despite both having much more talent in 2021 than RR had. Fielding and baseball IQ hasn't really seemed to change past the obvious personnel changes. Hitting has been affected more by injuries than players ascending or descending as a whole. #6, so far the things I feared most under TLR didn't happen, while the things I feared least did happen. I have been blowing away by some of the incredible lapses of Tony from the managerial and technical sides of things, while being impressed that despite all of the adversity of this year the team has never really broken. The Yermin incident and the multiple times of having no idea what is going on in a game right in front of TLR are inexcusable. The team leadership holding steady and never bending or breaking through everything is incredible. Going into 2021, I had the complete opposite expectations. #7, as Jon Bon Jovi said, we are half way there. RR was fine through the first 90% of last season, and then the stretch run and playoffs got him. Do we know what this team is going to do when the pressure is on? Nope. We have a few small sample sizes, but so far this team hasn't shown they are giant slayers, only bullies against the week. You won't fully be able to put together a final judgment until we see the stretch run. -
