    Ah, the problem there is DeGrom has actually thrown over 200 IP at the major league level 3 times. I can't make the leap that you can just project Burnes out to that level without knowing if he can handle that kind of workload.

    As active as he is going after teams to get them involved, it feels like he must have way less than that on the table.

    I mean right now the Brewers may well be the favorite in the NL Central. I can't see them taking a step back this year unless they are under a mandate to cut salary, and even then a Burnes trade doesn't do anything for that.

    Considering Bauer is still campaigning directly to teams, I don't think the dollars are anywhere NEAR what he wants.

    Burnes hasn't pitched more than 100 innings in any single season since his A+/AA season in 2017. If they want you to back up the truck for that, you walk away. It scares me to be talking about dealing a lot of good prospects for a guy who has NEVER made it to 100 innings as a major league pitcher.

    Do people think Burnes can go an entire season's worth of innings? He hasn't even hit 100 innings since 2017 in the minors. What is his story?

    I would not bet on Cespedes being able to help the Sox this year. Sure it is possible, but the guy hasn't played competitive baseball since he was 21 in the CanAm leagues where he got 19 ABs, where he looked awful and overmatched. My complete guess is that he slots into A ball somewhere, maybe High A to start with, but the Sox won't know exactly what they have until they get him to camp and seeing real competition in Spring Training.

    That is also a great way of saying we want to control him for a 7th year that won't get you taken in front of an arbitrator for service time manipulation.
