  1. Of course Tony doesn't think this is a big deal. This a part of his demented moral code where swinging at a 3-0 pitch is worse than 2 DUIs. But again, once he opened his mouth to the media, he no longer gets to decide how big this story is. It is now free in the world. Of course Tony doesn't want to get publicly mocked for this, and thinks everyone should do think what he thinks. If anything, it tells you how out of touch he is that he sees this as completely normal.
  2. Again, if Tony has nothing to say, this never gets off of the ground. But when you say something stupid to the media, you lose control of your words.
  3. Just because it doesn't fit the narrative doesn't mean the disctinction isn't important. Missed means he didn't know. Ignored means he did. That is REALLY important to the story at hand here.
  4. I take that back. It was actually Tony who said he missed a sign. McEwing said he had no problem with what Mercedes did.
  5. MY point is that you are 100% wrong here. All of the interviews and written materials very clearly show that. It was also that you calling people people liars while talking about respect and sportsmanship in the same post would be bad enough by itself for the depth of the hypocrisy that you just showed, but the fact that you are 100% in that assertion actually makes it worse.
  6. Joe McEwing said that Yermin missed a take sign. That is am important distinction and correction here meaning, according to our 3B coach who would be giving the signs, that Yermin DIDN'T actually know he should be taking.
  7. When talking about something that is mostly subjective, calling people liars is basically a personal attack. When the evidence is all out there and you are 100% completely wrong, it is a slap in the face to everyone who you are disagreeing with. You want to get an attitude about unwritten rules, and sportsmanship, yet write a post like this? You were hypocrite as soon as you hit send. You lost all of the BS high moral ground you tried to act like you had. GTFOH.
  8. And there it is. The margin for error against garbage teams is one thing. The playoffs will expose those weaknesses.
  9. And how the players will take it when they don't have winning to hide behind. This team is going to have a 5 or 6 game losing streak at some point this year. We don't know how they will react to that yet. It's easy to laugh off Tony when you are winning, but what happens when the pressure is on?
  10. This is a great point. For every conversation about not having Eloy and Robert, there should be a conversation about not having Lynn, Kopech, etc, and how much better the pen was under Ricky, even without the supposed upgrade from Hendriks.
  11. No comment. That's it. No comment. That ends it all.
  12. The headline is worth it for all who didn't watch the CC interview.
  13. So forget CC. We have a list going. I know I am missing A LOT, but this is what I am remembering quickly. From the White Sox: Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn, Tim Anderson, and Evan Marshall Current Major Leaguers: Nelson Cruz, Alex Wood, Trevor Bauer Current MLB Manager Chris Woodard Retired Major Leaguers: Frank Thomas, Ozzie Guillen, Steve Stone, National Baseball columnists: Jeff Passan, Bob Nightengale, On Tony's side you pretty much have the Twins. Spare the I have X games in MLB. This list of people has a more extensive baseball history than just one man in Tony LaRussa, and most of their histories are in the last decade.
  14. Apparently we just had to ... wait for it.
  15. You are talking to a newly minted CC Sabathia fan. Holy crap did he bring the fire!
  16. Seeing the starts that both Vaughn and Burger are off to this year really dispels the idea that the Schaumburg camp was just a glorified batting practice session. These guys both made huge leaps and are holding their own so far at the higher levels.
  17. Why does baseball take so much pride in being old fashioned? If this were basketball, the unwritten rules people would be upset that we weren't using peach baskets anymore, and don't get me started on the jump shot instead of the rightfully just set shot. The beautiful part about the game is that each generation makes it their own, and plays it the way that they want to play it. If you aren't supposed to swing 3-0, write the exact parameters in a rulebook, otherwise shut up and play the game. If you don't want someone swinging 3-0 down 11 against a position player, don't get down 11 and put a position player in to pitch.
  18. He obviously missed Tony's Hit a Home Run sign.
  19. If Tony is the manager, and Eaton is on the roster, he will be starting.

  21. If he was really worried about his player, he could have also contacted Baldelli and told him that they fixed it. But instead he set his player up by publicly making it a big deal.
  22. I don't think I have seen the word "punk" used so many times in decades.
