  1. A 7 year deal would buy out 4 free agent years, which would cost WAY more than $100 million by themselves. A guy like Gio is a slam dunk $30 milion + per year pitcher on the free agent market.
  2. That only leaves Giolito and ReyLo in the process for the Sox. I have to imagine Rey settles, and I REALLY hope a long term deal is put together for GIo.
  3. Eh, a lot of that is financial. Would Cleveland have been different if they weren't one of the cheapest franchises in baseball? They have been dumping dollars for years now, so it isn't like the move of Bauer was something unusual for them. Cincy is also looking to dump dollars after this season.
  4. Considering opening day could be then as well, it isn't a surprise that this is dragging out.
  5. Honestly it reminds me of the Sox trading for Eloy pretty early in his US career. It was one of those deals where he could have exploded on the scene, or he could have flopped, but his upside was there to make it worth while. All four of the kids, especially the international ones, have the potential to be to 3 prospects in the Cubs system in a year or two's time. They also have the potential to wash out.
  6. It is real talent, it is just surprising how far away it all is.
  7. I see the New Years Eve drinking has started early.
  8. For the record, Engel is in his first year of arbitration eligibility. His deal was always going to be cheap.
  9. I was just thinking that the Indian dealing players as they get expensive isn't exactly ground breaking news.
  10. He tried to power play the Sun Times by threatening to quit, and they let him. Then he moved on out west and never really got going again. A domestic violence allegation pretty much finished him off.
