Javier Vazquez voids trade to Tigers
The only way the deal would have made sense is if the Tigers also got Troy Glaus in the trade. They still need a third baseman if they plan on trading I-Rod and moving Inge back to catcher. Granderson and Zumaya would have been too much to give up for Vazquez unless the Diamondbacks were picking up some of his contract.

I'm sure the Diamondbacks jumped on the offer. The Tigers would have been giving up a top CF prospect and a top pitching prospect. Arizona probably begged Vazquez to waive his no-trade clause.

Good point. He could put up great numbers there. I guess he wants to go to an east coast team though. His family is there or something.

Those would be two excellent moves in my opinion. 1.) Sign Mike Myers. 2.) Trade Damaso Marte to the Padres for Sean Burroughs. The trade actually makes sense for both teams. The Padres don't have any established lefty relievers on their 25-man roster. Burroughs supposedly plays gold glove defense at third base and also can play some second base. After a trade like this, our offseason would be complete. And the Score is reporting that Kenny is looking for a utility infielder and looking to sign a lefty so he can possibly trade Marte.

I don't see Freel happening for the reasons you stated. Also, I don't see Kenny being too interested in him because he's awful defensively at third base and that's our primary position of need. Freel is much better defensively at second base and in the outfield.

It sounds great until we see Graffanino butchering plays at third base. But beggars can't be choosers.

Mueller would be the best option for us if Crede's back makes him miss time but Graffanino isn't a bad fallback plan at all.

Another ESPN gem
Did this loser really need to rant about milk for five minutes?

Free agent resource.
I don't even want to think about what the Marlins would want for Miguel Cabrera.

Burnett signs with Toronto
Wow, crazy when you think about it. An injury-prone pitcher now has a deal where it only looks good if he somehow stays healthy for five straight years.

JUAN PIERRE
I know that but when you realize what the Marlins are asking for Pierre I can see why Kenny bowed out. The Marlins want one of the Rangers' top pitching prospects, either John Danks or Thomas Diamond, in return for Pierre: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...lb.cd7120f.html

JUAN PIERRE
Straight from Kenny Williams' mouth, he has absolutely no interest in Juan Pierre. I just heard him answering the Pierre question on the Score on the latest update. Kenny said that because of Brian Anderson and Jerry Owens, and even further down the line with Chris Young and Ryan Sweeney, the Sox have absolutely no interest in Juan Pierre. Kenny said that he hasn't even made a single call to the Marlins regarding Pierre. That's it folks, either Brian Anderson or Jerry Owens will be starting in our outfield next season. I suspect a big reason for Kenny coming out and stating this is because the price for Pierre is ridiculously high now with many teams interested in him. 40 pages, all for naught!

Night 1 Notes from the GM Meetings
I don't mind the idea of Mueller starting over Crede for the next two years but after that we would be screwed unless Josh Fields pans out. And no one knows if that's going to happen.

If any other team had given Loaiza that same contract, they would have bashed the signing. Even if it was a team like the Padres with a huge ballpark.

Bill Mueller To Sox?
Doesn't sound like we have a chance at Mueller: http://pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review...e/s_401161.html

Zito to Dodgers?
It's not Zito for Bradley. It's supposedly Kirk Saarloos and left-handed pitching prospect Mario Ramos for Milton Bradley. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...t=.jsp&c_id=oak

Angels & Sox looking at Crawford
Crawford is only 24 years old, he's a lefty bat, and he has a ton of speed to steal bases. He can't play center field like Rowand but his bat is getting better every year. He put up a .800 OPS last season. He has a ton more upside than Rowand.

Angels & Sox looking at Crawford
That would be one sick outfield if Dye was still putting up solid numbers and we picked up his 2007 option: LF Carl Crawford CF Chris Young RF Jermaine Dye or Ryan Sweeney if ready
