  1. You could be right, but I think Hahn was saying that's how high the total payroll for 2006 could go.
  2. Rick Hahn was already on the Score last week and said that the payroll would be in the upper $80 millions, so around $87-$88 million.

  4. I was thinking about that too. But if we could have the chance at a Podsednik, Crawford, Dye outfield I would take the weakened defense in a second.
  5. I forgot to add that. But still, better glove or not, Neifi is making over three times the money that Deivi Cruz is making and he will be making it for two years. Both are just backup utility infielders, nothing more.
  6. That's why I don't think it's likely. We aren't going to trade McCarthy and we already dealt Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood. If we still had those two guys, this trade could actually happen.
  7. Crawford was just b****ing about how the Devil Rays signed Rocco Baldelli to a contract similar to his, even after Baldelli missed last season with injuries. http://www.sptimes.com/2005/12/05/Sports/R..._too_like.shtml Crawford would probably cost some combination of Brian Anderson, Josh Fields, and Sean Tracey. And we obviously would have to pick up Crawford's entire contract, which isn't bad at all. He'd be worth it though if we didn't have to give up McCarthy.
  8. Here's a hilarious example of how the Cubs stupidly overpaid Neifi Perez: Keep in mind that both Neifi Perez and Deivi Cruz play the same positions (SS, 2B, and 3B). Neifi Perez is 32 years old while Deivi Cruz is 33 years old. Neifi Perez's career stats: .270 AVG .301 OBP .380 SLG .681 OPS Deivi Cruz's career stats: .269 AVG .293 OBP .388 SLG .682 OPS

  10. Brandon McCarthy isn't going anywhere in any trade so it's pretty pointless that websites keep mentioning him in rumors. Josh Fields? Sure.
  11. I would sooner trade Brian Anderson for Pierre than Chris Young, not that I'd want to trade either of them for Pierre.

Look at Lo Duca's previous seasons. He has been in major decline with age. His power has disappeared. That's not good when he has a weak arm and he's not a very good defensive catcher to begin with.
  13. 34 at bats?

That's the only move Cleveland has made right? They still need a closer, right fielder, and maybe a first baseman.
  19. Nomar is probably not an option and here's why: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05338/617063.stm
  20. I hope this is true: http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/s...ts/13322010.htm
  21. Far too expensive and he's a Boras client as well, although those two pretty much go hand in hand.
  22. Rowand was the honorary captain for the coin toss at this game.
  23. It's even worse when you realize that both Bengie Molina and Ramon Hernandez want around $6-$7 million a year and are far better catchers than Lo Duca. This trade just makes no sense whatsoever and I can see why Mets fans are pissed off about it.
  24. You guys are right, and it's even worse when you realize that the Mets will be paying Lo Duca $6.25 million in 2006 and 2007. The Mets are so very dumb.
  25. They basically replaced Piazza with a slightly younger version of Piazza without the power. They could have just signed Bengie Molina or Ramon Hernandez and not given up the prospects.
