You can't give up El Duque in that deal. He's worth more than Tracy.

We gave up Rowand, Gonzalez, and Haigwood for Thome and cash. What do you think Chad Tracy would cost?

IF the don't sign Paulie
It would be amazing if we lost Konerko, re-signed Frank for $2-$3 million, and Thome and Frank produced at their healthy levels. That would be some sick production for a combined $10 million. Of course, that would be the ultimate best case scenario and I don't see it happening. I think the Sox would go in another direction if Konerko doesn't re-sign.

What to do with extra Thome money?

I agree with you. I think we are stuck with El Duque. $4.5 million is a lot of money for him but he earned a lot of it in clutch time during the playoffs. At least we will have a solid long reliever and spot starter in case there's an injury to our rotation.- NBA Top Ten
I'd like a little more than 5.7 points per game from him. He should be a double double guy at least.- JUAN PIERRE

http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/n...ts/13264463.htm Are the Cardinals really stupid enough to pay Jacque Jones almost $7 million a year? I'd rather spend the extra $10 million for Brian Giles. This makes Jermaine Dye's contract ($4 mill in 2005, $5 mill in 2006, $6 mill team option for 2007) look awesome.- NBA Top Ten
Give me Brand over Chandler any day of the week. Chandler is looking like a complete bust this season. He will never be a top center in the NBA.- "Manny is not returning to boston".
Not that we will ever get Manny but I disagree. Thome is a .281 career hitter. Manny is a .314 career hitter. You want your best hitter in the 3-hole. That would be Manny.- Carl Everett
Nope, it's just insane to suggest that Everett be our center fielder.- DA BULLs
At least Gordon made up for it with a nice layup.- DA BULLs
Nice to see Gordon choke on those two free throws. :headshake- BJ Ryan to Blue Jays for.....
Just ask Scott Eyre.- Prospects for Players
Do you really miss Aaron Myette and Brian Schmack?- JUAN PIERRE
I would love Milton Bradley for center field and the 2-hole but there's no way Kenny adds a bad clubhouse guy like him. Although we did sign Pierzynski and he was supposedly a clubhouse cancer. But in Bradley's case, it's most likely true. But he's rumored to be available for next to nothing. The Dodgers may even decide to non-tender Bradley if no team offers them anything for him. This lineup would be sick though: Podsednik LF Bradley CF Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Iguchi 2B Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS I couldn't really hold it against Kenny for not being interested in Bradley though. He's got a lot of skill but he's still a headcase.- TroyGlaus
Too much money. Re-sign Konerko.- JUAN PIERRE
Did Hahn say that they could look within the organization for the #2 hitter that they desire or if it will be a free agent or a player from another team? I'm just wondering if he is talking about Jerry Owens or making a trade for a guy like Juan Pierre.- Free agent resource.

Phil Rogers still thinks the Sox could trade for Pierre: http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews...ts/13262763.htm- Blue Jays get Ryan
I agree but it will probably be tough to trade a 40 year old pitcher who has major injury issues, a $4.5 million contract, and a 5.12 ERA.- Deadline for Konerko
You are forgetting about the raises in contracts that players are getting and will get via arbitration for 2006.- Prospects for Players
Anderson is faster than Rowand.- Jim Callis of BA rates Chris Young
Maybe Callis already considers that McCarthy was an impact player in 2005. - The bottom of the roster
