Abuse of Patriot Act?
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) I'm no expert, but I'd say a laser hitting the retina could certainly cause some problems. Temporarily. I just don't see the pilot getting hit with the laser and instead of moving his head out of the way, grabs the steering wheel and jerks it in the opposite direction causing the plane to go out of control. Come on.

Ready for snow?

Abuse of Patriot Act?
While I don't like the Patriot Act, I'm not sure of your poll question? Are you asking, "Should he be prosecuted?" I say, YES! I don't think it's abuse. Contrary to what they tell us, I don't believe pointing a laser at a pilot would cause him to steer out of control, but I think this guy thought that it might and wanted to find out for himself. I think the worst part of this he won't even get charged for and that's blaming his daughter. :headshake

BTW, Isn't it just "Shea" not "O'Shea"? "O'Shea" is from "Little Giants."

Terry Shea Fired
Sunday against the Pack was a perfect example. They came out using the run and then on the next drive went away from it.

Wade Boggs & Ryne Sandberg inducted to HOF
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) I don't like Ryno, but he was the best 2nd baseman of his time. And if Bill Mazerowski is in, then Ryno should be in. Agreed. I'd kill to have a number 2 hitter like that in our lineup in '05.

Predictions for Next year
Talk to me in October when we're watching Minnesota in the playoffs yet again. Sorry, just a little discouraged from the past 4 years. Before I get jumped on: I'm not giving up. I'm not rooting against the Sox. Just discouraged is all.

Al Zarqawi captured?
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) It seems that Drudge's exclusives are about a 50-50 shot of being true. I trust his links more. Could this pan out like Kerry's alleged affair? Maybe that's why FoxNews didn't run with it...this time.

Social Security benefits formula might change
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) I just wish more people understood the problem. So many end of the worldists are running around screaming about "fixing" social security, like there is some magic formula that will do it, without making tough decesions. There are two practical ways to do it. Either, one, raise taxes, or two, cut benefits. I don't think there's a "magic formula", but I don't agree that raising taxes or cutting benefits are the only way. Let me say, that I'm not a big fan of SS in the first place. I think it discouraged saving for more than a generation by wrongly telling the workforce that they would be fine when they retire. But, since it's here, we're obligated to fix it for our elderly. The first thing I would do is allow people to opt out of it. You would still pay a portion of the SS taxes to help pay for the current SS benefits, but not near as much. I'm not an economist and I'm damn glad I'm not on the team that has to handle this.

Something I've been thinking about
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) IMO AROW is going to be a great player for us. He's not only a grinder but he has a ton of talent and needs to be signed to a long term deal (in fact he should of been signed well before Uribe). AROW was ready 2 years ago. KW just got Everett before he could prove it. I absolutely agree! Sign this guy now!
