Schoen couldn't get anybody out last season, why do you guys expect 2004 to be any different. We gave up a great propect in Bittner for an overpaid slug who makes opposing hitters salivate.
-
Okay, just as long as as we don't sign the other Alomar. Robbie was a mistake.
-
Gotta give this kid a chance to start. But the Sox will probably trade for some outfielder who hits .240, gets paid a lot, and Jeremy will play at Charlotte and hit .380.

A history lesson for the young and old....
Jim Fainter replied to Rex Hudler's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rex, I've been watching (following) major league baseball for well over fifty years, and I can honestly say that players today hustle more than they did 50-60 years ago. There have been lots of changes for the betterment of the game. I just wish we could deemphasize the home run a little bit by not building band box ball parks. Big ball parks will yield more doubles and triples and will require faster outfielders, all of which adds excitement. But the trend is to bring in the fences more and more, to the delight of fans, which is something i will never understand, other than the fact that fans are getting dumber every decade. Sox Park is no exception. -
That play by Fick in the NLDS where he tried to hurt Karros was just plain dirty.
-
Another reason not to sign Everett is that he would make it very unlikely that Reed would make the team, and I think we have to give him a shot. I believe the arbitration rules state that we must offer him 80 % of last years salary, which would be well over $7 MM, and Carl would accept immediately. No place to play him except center.

If you guys think that Koch's 100 mph fastball will magically reappear in ST, you are just fooling yourselves with wishful thinking. We got screwed, and that's it. If the Mets or anyone else volunteers to take Koch off our hands, it will include us doing the same for them, that is, taking one of their expensive problems.
-
Another bad trade. We lost two tremendous prospects for him, and he is not a major league center fielder.
-
Helton and Wilson are not going anywhere. That was just another example of bullls*** journalism.

Beware, Sox fans!!!! There is a Rex Hudler impersonator out there. Rex, who has been one of the most kowledgeable and objective posters, just said that Paul Konerko will hit .285, 33 homers, and 110 Rbi's next year? Gotta be an impersonator, because it is waaaay atoo early for April Fools Day pranks. Of course, last summer Rex did say that the Robbie Alomar trade was good. He must be a double agent.
-
Robbie will be worse next year than he was last year. Offensively, he is a shot player. If the White Sox offer him a contract, we will be bidding against ourselves. Harris will be fine in '04.
-
If Schoenweis scould not get any one out in the clutch last year, what makes you guys think he will be able to next year. He is terrible.
-
I never saw Joe B as a pompous ass or as a bit uncoachable. I just don't think he can hit. Last off season I said that I did not think he was ever going to make it, and I was villified here. He went backward in 2003. He must show some progress this year. His supporters have been using football as an excuse far too long. Is 2004 the last year for that excuse? I hope so. Regarding the low budget team, I saw no indication of Jeremy Reed. He would fit right in.
-
If they kept track of popups to the right side, he would lead the league, but he makes up for it with his great baserunning, trowing ability, and his team first attitude.

It still blows my mind that Baseball won't put these guys from other countries in the draft, or a draft.
-
This guy had a great year for the Scrubs. I was surprised they let him go.

Con. Maggs is simply too much to give up for Soriano. Money can't be the equalizer. If a trade is made for those two principals, Sox need more. Another reason I don't like it is that I want to see Willie Harris at second, and he doesn't cost much either. Let Steinbrenner solve his own problems without us giving him Maggs, who will be in his contract year and have plenty of incentive to have a big year. We signed that $14 MM deal, so let's live with it. We had Maggs on the cheap for a few years, too.

Will Ozzie stand up to Frank?
-
Trade Thomas, Konerko, and Koch for Manny, then DH him.
-
Frank sold his house; maybe he wants to relocate out West. I hope so.
-
I like it when Phil goes after KW.
-
Could Ozzie stand up to Frank Thomas? I'm not so sure. When they were teammates, Frank ruled the roost, but he could get away with it because he could hit.......then. When Frank gets surly and pouts and b****es because he is hitting under .200 next season, will Ozzie have the ovaries to stand up to him and put him on the bench? I don't think so. Could a guy like Robin Yount? Yes.

At least we get a draft pick for Bart.
-
Grady Little flat choked in the ALCS. And some rookie managers torn out okay, like Mike Scocia.
-
Who cares?
