  1. Todd Walker used to be considered a defensive liability. Any trade talk with Boston has to begin and end with Sanchez.
  2. Harris hit close to .400 at AAA. Got to give himn a chance, second is his best positon, Jiminiz is struggling, to be polite, I say put and second and leave him alone. He'll figure it out and his speed will cover a few of his sins.
  3. Please don't trade Cotts for an over the hill second baseman, especially without trying a few other solutions first.
  4. Rex, Re Bristol and G. Falls, are these leagues mostly kids just out of high school, or do they have a lot of three year college guys like Anderson? Tks.
  5. Anderson's team played a double header Saturday in Utah (they don't play on Sundaay, I would imagine). He had a bad day. Went 3 for 7 and his average dropped.
  6. In his post game interview he said it was good that he was sent down to AAA earlier this year.
  7. Same day: Koch wins, Foulke loses. Whoda thunk it.
  8. The Sox have a tremendous spirit going right now. Got to keep it. The team was on the edge of the dugout. They looked like a team. Jose especially. Harris showed a ton of emotion when Rowand hit his homer. Maggs is starting to play well. He can still get really hot and carry the team. Tough game with Kerry Wood tomarrow, but these guys can pull it off if they keep hustling this way. Fun to watch them.
  9. That was a great swing by Rowand. I hope JM realizes he hit it off a right hander and leaves him out there for a few days.
  10. Who would you rather have seen come to the plate today, Konerko or Gload?
  11. Texsox, I don't think we can send him to AAA any more. He probably has his 5 years of service under his belt. 4.5 years with the Sox alone, plus he played in 75 games or so in 1998 plus a cup of coffee in 1997. I suggested it earlier in the season when it was possibly doable but KW vetoed it. In his 3 at bats, he has had some great pitches to hit. Two on that last at bat alone. It looks like he'll never get another hit. The crowd is cheering him on, though.
  12. The trade value for Bart just went down.
  13. I love it -- Harris at second.
  14. Hey guys, if we take Alomar and his contract from the Mets, we would not have to give anything remotely resembling a top prospect.
  15. Trader jack was immitating those crybaby football coaches who complain when another coach runs up the score. It sounds inane in either sport. Just shut up and show tomarrow. There is nothing wrong with a hitter trying to pad his own stats even if his team is ahead by 15 runs.
  16. Different subject. I don't know why JM went against conventional wisdom and left Flash in for the 9th, other than the fact that Flash looked soooo good in the 8th and he probably didn't have a whole lot of faith in Koch. Letting him (Gordon) face three hitters in the ninth made me wonder, though.
  17. Rex mentioned somewhere else that we should not expect to see Anderson at Great Falls much longer. I agree. He has gotten off to a great start, hitting .500, etc. Actually, I was mildly surprised we started him out at Great falls. Last year, for example, our number 2 choice, Jeremy Reed, who had similar college background to Anderson, went straight to Kannapolis, where he did very well. Right now, the three outfielders getting most of the playing time at Kannapolis are Brice, Ciraco, and Webster. I hope Anderson joins them soon.
  18. Is Robbie Alomar in the last year of his contract, or does he have one more year left?
  19. Halladay lost, gave up 9 hits and 5 runs Friday night. Loaiza goes against Wood on Sunday.
  20. He made a good point in today's column in which he applauded JM for walking Patterson to get to Corky with the bags packed. Looking back, it was logical, because Patterson, a lefty, is such a good hitter now. But, it still took some ovaries for JM to make that decision.
  21. Anybody know what the legal liability is for the Cubs/Tribune regarding the scalping?
  22. Rex, three more hits for Gload (Friday night). We're now in a fight for the Division Title; we need to get that bat in Chicago, yes, at the expense of Rios.
  23. Rex, do you have a bio on Chris Young? Valido is really something, because I'm sure a lot of the players in that league have had college experience and/or a year of pro ball.
  24. Farnsworth's suspension helped, otherwise he would have been in there.
  25. Annoit Jose Captain for the rest of the time he is on the team.
